If Dylan’s coping method was perks and Irving's religion, then Mark’s was other people. Their lives at Lumon were supposed to revolve around the ‘mysterious and important’ work and serving Kier, but for Mark, his life revolved around the people around him.
All of the anger she had felt, for the first while of her life, had been directed at Mark. It wasn’t until she was sent to the Break Room for the first time that she found that she had no more anger left for him. It was redirected towards the people truly responsible for her suffering, and all that was left for Mark was pity.
