Burnin’ up, for you, baby

Summary:

A short story of Jinx spending some time with her emotional support boy-savior.

Notes:

Wow it’s been a while since I posted something, but y’know I had to come back for best girl’s birthday!

Work Text:

The experiments Singed conducted to bring her back had done a number on her. A lot of numbers, actually.

One, two, skip a few...

Her blue eyes were gone, now a maddening magenta. Her strength and speed were off the charts. She even knocked out Vi in one hit! She might’ve been distracted, but whatever. Power ran through her now discolored veins. Figuratively, of course. The shimmer bonded to her blood weighed the life-giving substance down. No longer warm or rushing, ice-cold blood trudged through her arteries.

Her blood felt like sludge, and the shimmer somehow managed to make even more of a mess in her disorderly mind.

Most of her emotions felt muted. Things she used to enjoy didn’t seem worthwhile anymore. Hell, she didn’t even want to look at Pow-Pow anymore after...

She sucked in deep breath and balled her trembling fingers into fists, ignoring how her nails started to dig into the meat of her palms.

‘Don’t cry you’re perfect.’

A lot easier said than done, but she would manage. She owed Silco that much, at least.

She wiped the moisture from her eyes.

Anyways, the only things that could get a rise out of her nowadays were memories of the dinner party, messing with Vi and her stupid piltie girlfriend, dealing with Mylo’s ever so helpful commentary, and a certain someone who was far too kind for his own good.

As if he could read her thoughts, his hand reached out and grabbed hers. Enveloping her freezing fingers in a comforting, warm embrace. Tenderly massaging her knuckles until her fingers relaxed enough to stop clawing up her palms.

It didn’t even make sense! Her body usually felt like ice, but just a second of contact had her whole body feeling like it was enveloped in a warm embrace, her flushed face felt like it was burning, and her heart! Normally, the lazy organ barely beat even when she was running from Piltover’s finest or fighting vigilnauts, now it was thundering in her ears as it churned her lethargic, thick blood into surging rapids.

Brown eyes filled with concern peered into her own as he leaned in so close that one of his locs tickled her forehead. Too close!

“You okay?” He asked. She nodded her head vigorously, sending her bangs flopping around wildly. He raised an eyebrow. "Like, really?”

“I-I’m fine!” She stuttered.

His eyes continued to examine her, trying to suss out a problem he could help her with. His savior complex could be as infuriating as it was endearing. After a moment, he relaxed and gave her a far calmer nod in return. “I believe you, but if something starts bothering you, I wanna be the first to know, okay?” He finished with a smile.

That damned smile.

His perfect teeth shone down on her like the sun, and her brain shamelessly tossed aside its usual apathy and begged her to eclipse his mouth with her own. It took all of her self-control not to oblige.

Oh, who was she kidding? She didn’t have a single brain cell capable of impulse control.

Jinx slipped her hands out of his grasp and wrapped her arms around Ekko’s neck, pulling him in and shrinking the minuscule distance between them down to nothing. Pressing their lips together in what started as a tender embrace but quickly evolved into something deeper, frenzied as the growing heat in her core demanded more even as the air in her lungs grew faint.

His lips were pillows after a long day. Soft, comforting, and inviting, and she could faintly taste peaches? And not the canned ones, either fresh ones straight from Piltover’s markets. His strong hands took hold of her waist and held her snuggly against him. His fingers traced back and forth along the dips in her hips, and her body eagerly lapped up the warmth that only he could provide.

Air was overrated anyway.

Ever the hero, Ekko pulled back, saving her lungs from their oxygen-deprived state. In between panting breaths, she spoke.

“The only thing bothering me is that I didn’t do that sooner.”

He flashed her a goofy grin that looked so wonderful with her lipstick smeared on it.
