Work Header

whole world in the palm of his hand

Summary:

Scar cupped Grian's face, thumb gently stroking his cheek as Grian shuddered. He leaned into the hand, eyes slipping closed.

"You're beautiful," Scar whispered, eyes tracking all over his face. The wings on the side of Grian's head fluttered as his blush, which had at first only covered his cheeks, spread further down. His head tried to duck down with it, but Scar's hold on him prevented him from being able to do so.

Notes:

points. gay

this isn't the one I had been planning on posting next but whatever it's cute and I wanted to post fluff. I like fluff.

idk if this would take place in the life series or hermitcraft. either works i think. but also i don't actually know much about hermitcraft itself (update: i ended up writing a bit more in between writing this note and posting it and it might actually make more sense for it to be hermitcraft but w/e either still works)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Scar cupped Grian's face, thumb gently stroking his cheek as Grian shuddered. He leaned into the hand, eyes slipping closed.

"You're beautiful," Scar whispered, eyes tracking all over his face. The wings on the side of Grian's head fluttered as his blush, which had at first only covered his cheeks, spread further down. His head tried to duck down with it, but Scar's hold on him prevented him from being able to do so.

Scar's free hand came up to cup his other cheek until he was holding Grian in his hands. Grian's eyes opened to look at him, a striking green barely peeking over at him. Scar smiled at him, and slowly, Grian smiled back, a soft and gentle thing, eyes fluttering closed again.

Scar continued stroking Grian’s cheek with his thumb. Grian moved his head further into it, lips brushing lightly against his palm.

Looking at him, Scar couldn’t help the burst of love that bloomed within him, threatening to consume him whole. He didn’t care if it did, so long as he could keep looking at Grian.

Grian opened his eyes again, raising an eyebrow at him. Scar was sure his expression was dopey as he looked at him, but he didn’t care. “Hey,” he said quietly, voice barely more than a breath.

“Hi,” Grian responded in kind. The side of his head was still squished against his cheek, lips barely touching his palm.

“I love you.”

Grian’s eyes widened, the wings on his head poofing out a bit before trying to cover his face as it deepened further in a blush. Scar laughed, especially as Grian reached out blindly to push him away. Scar caught his hands instead, allowing the wings to successfully cover his face, at least for the moment.

He kissed the back of one of the hands before letting them go, going back to cupping Grian’s face, though not before gently running a finger over the soft feathers until Grian was able to peek between them and look at him.

With his whole world in the palm of his hand, he brought his face closer until Scar’s breath ghosted over Grian’s lips. He paused then, looking down at Grian, until the avian huffed and closed the rest of the distance.

Scar couldn’t help but smile into the kiss, his free hand moving down to Grian’s waist to press him a little closer. Grian’s arms came up to wrap around his neck, pulling him down a little. Scar went willingly, laughing a little.

They parted then, Grian frowning up at Scar, mouth opening to say something. Scar just smiled, leaning down briefly to kiss him again before any word could be uttered. Grian let out a squeak of surprise but let it happen, closing his eyes.

When they parted the second time, Grian kept his eyes closed. He felt it as Scar continued leaving kisses, on his cheeks or his forehead or even one on the tip of his nose that had him wrinkling it for a second before finally opening his eyes, seeing Scar smiling down at him.

Scar was always a very smile-y guy, they both knew this. Very rarely did he have any other expression. Whether he was talking with Grian or anyone else, he’d often be smiling. But the smiles he used for Grian were different from the others. More…not sincere, he was always sincere, but…softer, almost. Tinged with love. They had him feeling warm, looking into Scar’s gaze and his constant smile.
