"Cosmic Wolf"
Keith was excited. His Dads were taking him and Regris planetside for the very first time. Keith had never been on a planet, having lived his entire life at the Blade headquarters. He didn't know what to expect.

The Blades were pleased at their kits' enthusiasm for their trip. Other Blades had discovered a planet and scouted around in order to see if there was any Empire activity. Fortunately, there was none, so the Blades decided to use it as a vacation spot, but they would keep their guard up. Their kits' safety was the most important thing in the universe.
Once the pod landed, the Blades let their kits wander but always kept them within sight. Regris was happy to explore the bushes and lower branches of the trees. Keith, however, wanted to see what was at the top of the trees. He managed to jump high enough to grab onto one of the lower branches and start climbing higher.
Thace was the one currently keeping an eye on Keith and wasn't surprised to see the kit climbing. The younger kit never did grow out of the climbing phase, but at least he wasn't giving the rest of the pack heart attacks with his antics. The violet furred Blade inched closer to the base of the tree Keith was climbing so he could catch the kit if he fell.
Keith knew one of his Dads was keeping an eye on him as he climbed, but his curiosity urged him to keep climbing higher. Once he reached the top of the tree, he scanned the area above the forest canopy and was amazed at how different it looked.
As he was looking around, a bright, white light streaked across the sky. It looked like a meteor, and Keith wanted to explore the crash site. He slowly climbed down the tree, jumping the down the last few feet and slightly startling Thace.

Once Keith's feet were firmly on the ground, the young kit took off in the direction of the crash site, but he wasn't alone. The entire pack decided to investigate in case it was a ship. It wasn't a ship though. It didn't look like any space craft or ship any of the Blades had seen before, and there was a small animal laying in the crater.
Even though the adults of the pack had pushed the kits behind them in order to protect them from any potential threats, Keith managed to slip out from behind them and approach the animal. It had tri-colored fur with the main colors being black and a blue color and accents in a turquoise on its face and a light gray also on its face but also on its chest. It also looked hurt.
Keith slipped into the crater and gently ran his fingers along the animal's legs and back, making sure nothing was broken. A soft whine alerted Keith to the fact that the animal was aware of his presence, and he was suddenly face-to-face with a pair of intelligent yellow eyes.
Time seemed to slow down while the yellow eyes searched Keith's violet irised eyes for something Keith didn't know. Then, the animal left out a woof sound and nudged itself under Keith's arms, nosing his neck in the process.
Keith smiled and giggled, looking up and out of the crater at his pack. "He likes me!"
"Can you get out of there, kit?" Ulaz asked.
"Um, I think so," was the reply. Just then, there was a bright flash and Keith and the animal appeared next to the pack.
"Whoa. That was cool!" Regris exclaimed.
Antok's eyes widened when he saw the animal properly. Cosmic wolves were rare and protective of the one they consider their other half. "That's a cosmic wolf."
Keith looked from his new friend to his largest pack member and back, confusion plain on his features. He had never heard of a cosmic wolf before. "Does that mean I can't keep him?"
"Oh, kit, we couldn't keep him away even if we wanted to. Cosmic wolves travel the galaxy looking for special beings with quintessence similar to their own. These special beings are called the wolf's other half. It is immoral to attempt to separate the two halves once they meet," Antok replied.
Keith looked between the wolf and Antok again, his eyes landing on the big Galra. "So, I can keep him?"
Thace chuckled. "Yes, kit." He watched the two kits play with the wolf pup. "So, what is his name?"
Keith perked up. "Name?" Keith looked at the wolf. "He hasn't told me yet. I mean we just met."
Thace gaped and turned to Kolivan, whispering, "The kit thinks the wolf will tell him his name?"
"Who's to say he's wrong? None of us know how a cosmic wolf bonds with their chosen being and how strong that bond can be."
Laughter drew their attention back to the two kits and their new playmate. When they had taken Keith into their pack all those deca-phoebes ago, they didn't know he would be so special as to end up with a cosmic wolf companion, but looking at their youngest kit, they realized that he had proven how special he was all along.
