Chapter Text
Reggie's fingers //hurt//. The notes are dragged out of him painfully by Caleb's magic. The bassist doesn't know how long he's been playing, but the red on the neck of his instrument isn't just wood stain anymore. He didn't even know ghosts //could// bleed. Lucky for the audience his god awful tacky red suit camouflages any stains. Fuck. He misses his flannel...and his boots...and his jeans.
It's a small consolation that the rest of the band isn't here. But he'll take it. It's the only thing that's keeping Reggie upright. Well....that and Caleb's magic. The musical ghosts he //is// playing with mostly ignore him, although he caught the eye of the drummer once who winced in sympathy. This has been going on for days (weeks?). He's not really sure. He just knows the club has shows, and then there's private performances and then Caleb just makes him "practice". He gets a few hours of rest, but it's not enough to heal his hands as sleep never seems to come. It's just enough to keep him conscious but not able to fight back.
But it's worth it. Surely it is? The others are safe now. And honestly out of the three ghosts that were offered the deal, Reggie's pretty sure he was the only one that could take it . Luke couldn't have given up Julie and Alex couldn't have given up Willie. If someone had to go, Reg knew it was him. And at the time, someone //had// to agree or the shocks were going to rip them all apart into nothing. And Alex and Luke deserved better than that. Reggie loves them too much to let them become nothing.
They can find another bassist.
So here he is. Playing The Other Side. //Again//. It's almost as painful as his fingers.
