Work Text:
It had been about a month since the krang evasion. Leo had been stuck on bed rest being forced to spend most of his days on the couch so everyone could watch the slider. The dumbass they lovingly call their leader won’t rest for the life of him. Casey was now sitting across from the slider fidgeting with a rubix cube. Donnie had taught him how to use them. It was entertaining for the human while he spent time adjusting to his new life. Leo duty was like an observation patrol for him back in his old life. He didn’t mind sitting still and watching the slider. It felt like a task and that’s what he needed to feel normal. He could settle into relaxation slowly, but for now it was better to help Casey keep his mind busy.
Leo groaned as he wiggled around the couch. He couldn’t get comfortable. He sighed looking around whatever was in arms to try and make his spot comfier. He chirps of discomfort leaving the slider’s throat. Casey looked up blinking a few times. He looked up at Leo knowing all too well what those chirps ment. He had heard them many times from his master in the past. He had always been in so much pain or with a fever so how he was delirious. Either way it meant Leo needed his help. No matter the timeline or version his sensei needed his help. Casey set the cube down on the coffee table. He took off his zip up hoodie, giving it to Leo. He twisted his tongue to copy the clicks he had learned from Leo and his brothers. A call to comfort him.
Leo stared at him. No way he had just heard that come from the human. Leo took a deep breath and chirps back at Casey. Casey smiled a bit and chirped back at Leo. Leo sat up straighter.
“Ummm. How are you doing that?” Leo asked, reaching out a hand to gently touch Casey’s throat. Hoping the human would do it again so he can feel how he manipulated his vocal cords to mimic them. Casey laughed a bit as he simply helped Leo sit up so he could build a nest around the slider. The blue turtle’s hand constantly on his throat waiting for Casey to make the sound again. After a few minutes Casey chirps at Leo again. Leo stared in awe as he felt the shifts of Casey’s cords.
Casey’s chirps felt like the product of a human attempting to speak like an animal for sure. They weren't as natural as Leo’s, but the results are close enough. Enough to make the slider relax into the couch. He closed his eyes and hummed. Damn this was a good nest. Almost on pair with Mikey’s or Raph’s. Casey smiled as he sat down next to him on the couch. He started to tap on Leo’s temples. He didn’t understand what it ment but he was sure it was a sign of affection. Leo sighed as he leaned back. It all just felt so relaxing and comforting. He hissed slightly in pain as Casey pulled him on top. The human lets his body heat warm the slider and allow him to pile. Just as he had watched his masters do in his past life. Leo sighed as he relaxed. He wrapped his arms around Casey, finally getting comfortable.
Casey smiled as he continued to pet and comfort the slider. He relaxed back into the nest, his eyes growing heavy at the weight on top of him. Leo’s body acting as a weighted blanket for the human. He smiled gently, cooing up at Leo. Leo’s hand slid back over his throat to feel the rumble from his throat. Casey smiled tapping over the stripes of Leo’s face. He closed his eyes and moved a hand to keep Leo’s hand on his throat. Having the slider feel the vibrations his chirps and coos made. Doing anything to comfort his master. To help Leo recover faster so he could start his new life for real. Maybe he could learn what it’s like to sunbathe. Something he remembers his old family reminiscing about in his timeline.
“Hey Leo. When you get better. Can you show me what it’s like to sunbathe?”
Leo looked up at him and couldn’t help but laugh, “Ya. I’ll show you the minute I’m given the okay to move around. Casey smiled as he chirped, pushing Leo’s hand more firmly on his throat. Light enough so he wasn't being choked by him, bit firm enough to make sure Leo could feel the way the vibrations. Leo smiled as he rested again. He moved his other hand to return the taps to Casey’s temple. The two slowly fall asleep to the shared warmth and comfort given from the nest. Leo was sure to recover any day now.
