Summary:

A fluffy moment between Luz and Amity.

Notes:

A small blerb loosely based on the song Forever by The Little Dippers. A special thanks to all who offered me kind words of encouragement!!

Work Text:

There was nowhere Luz felt safer than in Amity’s arms. It’s like they were made just to hold her, to protect her. Amity has been with her through thick and thin. Seeing her at her best and staying with her through her worst. And there aren’t enough words in any language that can express how much Luz loves her. But Luz was never too good at words. So, she remained quiet as she sighed contentedly, snuggling deeper into Amity’s hold.

The young witch let out a soft hum and helped Luz in her endeavor by gently tightening her embrace. Amity then pulled her head back to gaze fondly at the Latina and moved to kiss her forehead, lingering there for just a moment.

“‘Love you, Luz.” Amity sighed into Luz’s unruly curls and closed her eyes, relaxing against her bed where they were currently cuddled up. Luz felt a dopey smile spread across her face and couldn't help the giggle that escaped her.

“I love you more, Batata,” Luz whispered back, nuzzling her face affectionately into Amity’s neck. From where she was situated against her amazing girlfriend–the situation being Luz lying on top of Amity and happily clinging to her torso– she could feel the ba-ba-thump! of Amity’s heart and magic bile sac. Moving slowly, the human ghosted her hands up and down Amity’s sides, taking great care to barely touch her.

Luz could feel Amity’s breath hitch, and it would have been completely imperceptible had Luz not been lying on top of her. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately for her girlfriend, she was incredibly easy to fluster, and Luz took immense pleasure in doing just that. Trying–and failing–to hold back her grin, Luz began to pepper Amity’s neck in kisses, feeling ecstatic when she heard a soft rumble from her girlfriend’s chest.

“You’re being awfully affectionate today aren’t you, Luz?” Amity, face flushed red, let out an embarrassed laugh once she realized she was purring, ears wiggling slightly.

Luz couldn’t help but laugh as well, pausing her barrage of kisses on Amity’s neck. Sitting back on her knees, she rose to face Amity with the speed of a turtle. A dumb smile was still plastered to her face as she met the gaze of the blushing girl. Leaning forward, the smile changed into a small smirk as she rested her forehead against Amity’s, “You know I can’t help myself, mi amor,” Luz closed her eyes and the distance between them, and gave her Love a slow, soft kiss. Amity’s eyes drifted shut as well and she practically melted into Luz’s touch, purring even louder.

The following moments were full of tender kisses and sweet nothings, each girl’s heart so full of warmth. However, all good things must come to an end, and Luz couldn’t help but pout as Amity suddenly pulled away, looking off to the side. An expression of uncertainty plagued the soft features of her face, and Luz immediately became worried. Did she do something to upset her? After a moment, the girl gathered enough courage to ask a simple question, “Do you think this will last?”

That was not the question Luz was expecting, which was evident by the surprised look on her face. Not knowing what to say, she parroted with the utmost eloquence, “This?” and vaguely gestured with her head to their surroundings.

Amity shook her head, “No, I meant us.”

Luz quirked one of her eyebrows and tilted her head. If they could make it through Belos’s reign, then surely, they could get through anything. How could Amity have any doubts? Luz knew how though. After all the crap Amity had to endure from Odalia, getting things she’d loved taken away from her with nothing more than a snap of that horrible woman’s fingers, it was only natural for her to feel like this. Luz couldn’t help but feel guilty, though. In the years after defeating Belos, everyone from her friend group had gotten some form of therapy, even if it wasn’t long-term. Admittedly, after Luz’s slow journey of healing the deep emotional and mental wounds she was left with, she was more than happy to ignore the remaining scars. It was now that she realized that not everyone was graced with the ability to abscond past demons. However, that only made her want to love Amity even more. To lay the young witch’s head on her chest as she whispers positive affirmations until the early morning. Instead, she took both of Amity’s hands in her own and rubbed the back of her hands, she spoke gently, “Amity, can you look at me?”

Amity reluctantly turned her head to face Luz, nervously meeting her eyes. She sputtered, “Sorry, forget I said anything. I just–”

“Amity,” Luz said sternly, face set with absolute certainty, “We’ve been through so much that I don’t think anything could separate us.” She ran her hands up Amity’s arms and cupped her cheeks in her hands, lightly pinching them. “I vow for as long as I live that nothing will tear us apart. Not Belos, not Odalia, not anything. Think of this like an ever-lasting oath.” Luz brushed her thumbs across the witch’s cheeks and tried to convey all her feelings toward her in a single look. Immediately, Amity’s eyes glazed over with tears and Luz started to panic, frantically trying to think up a way to prevent those tears from spilling.

“Oh my gosh, Amity I am so sor– mmph!”

Amity promptly cut Luz off by grabbing her by the waist and crashing her lips into hers. Luz, taken by surprise at first, happily returned the kiss. It was messy and wet with tears, but she didn’t mind. Pulling away, Amity let out a wet laugh and rubbed at her eyes, “Y’know, sometimes I can’t believe that I have a girlfriend as amazing as you.” Luz couldn’t help the blush that spread across her face as Amity continued, sniffling, “Whenever I get to spend time with you it makes me feel so warm and fluffy a–and loved, and I don’t know what I would do without you. I love you so, so much, Luz,” Amity was now crying again, and Luz was hopeless to stop herself from joining her.

Ay, Dios mío, Luz thought as she furiously rubbed away at her own tears, What did I do to deserve this girl?  Whatever it was, she was eternally grateful. Laughing, Luz pulled Amity into another short kiss and booped their noses together, “I love you too, Batata.” Those words would never be enough to convey all of Luz’s love, but with Amity looking at her like she was the most precious thing in the world, she thinks that Amity already knew.
