“You were shivering so, I uh, thought it would help.” He blushed, and rubbed the back of his neck, no longer protected by the scarf. Rayla looked down at the garment, rubbing a finger across the red wool. Rayla’s lips twitched in thought, there was so much conflict and confusion in her heart and head. She didn’t deserve his comfort but at the same time, the selfish part of her couldn’t help but leap in joy at the affectionate gesture.
“Thank you, Callum,” She wore a little grin, “You didn’t have to do that you know.” She remarked as they started to trudge through the snow again; Rayla could hear the insecurity dripping from her voice as she tried to play off the small gesture. Callum scoffed in a mixture of amusement and exasperation, her eyebrows raised as her ears twitched at the reaction.
Callum shook his head “I know I didn’t have to, but I wanted to.”

Now, expecting her own first child with no mother figure to turn to, she starts to break. Miyana nearly broke after Karim's betrayal of her and their children. She's raised her twins on her own, and rebuilt herself on her love for them.
A speculative fic centering around the idea of Rayla potentially being lonely in motherhood due to nobody around her having experience in that, and her finding comfort and solace with Miyana, who has shared many of the same experiences.

They made their way back to the living room, and Callum spotted the couch, it looked comfortable enough.
“So would you mind if I took the couch, or would you like me to just stay somewhere else? Because that works too, I’ll find an inn—“
“Callum, relax, you’re not going anywhere.” Rayla came up behind them.
“The couch is fine.” Runaan replied flatly.

There were no streamers or “You’re going to be a dad!” printed on a banner. Nor was there a gift box with little shoes in it sent to her family. Though, she supposed neither of those celebrations would've been appropriate at the time.
No, her reveal was just a creepy, evil, centuries-old startouch elf announcing her biggest secret while he possessed her husband’s body in the middle of battle.
So when Ezran asked her—months later—if he could throw a baby shower, she immediately agreed. After all they’d been through, she thought they deserved a little bit of frivolity.
