“Bonfire night?” Roy had asked, mimicking Jamie’s own surprise.
Keeley nodded like this was the most natural suggestion in the world. In response to their blank stares she added, “Stop looking at me that. Just trust me that this is our best option. I’m telling her we’re not coming for Christmas, obviously, and we’re not going for my birthday—” she visibly shuddered, like just the thought was enough to make her want to off herself, “And I’ll definitely be coming up with some excuse to get us out of Easter next year, which is all to say that I’ve got to give her something to get her off my back or she’ll never leave us alone again.”
Keeley arranges a trip up to see her mother, but leaves out the most crucial detail: she hasn't told her that she's dating both Roy and Jamie.
