Chapter Text
Madara wakes up slowly, warm and comfortable despite the heavy kakebuton.
It's really uncommon for him not to over heat enough to kick it off actually, and he yawns widely as he stretches lazily in the futon.
"Oh good, you're awake." The calm voice of his bed partner is enough to bring him to full alertness though, and his eyes snap open to find his nose buried in white hair. "Would you be willing to release me, please?"
"Sorry!" He lets go of Tobirama like the man is on fire - more hastily than that, in truth - and scrambles back onto his own futon. "I don't know why I did that, there were two beds, I'm sorry for invading yours!"
"It was fine," Tobirama rolls upright, face calm and chakra tranquil - how Madara doesn't know. "I'm accustomed to being held if I'm sharing a room."
"You are?" Madara blinks at his mission partner, not quite able to imagine Tobirama willingly submitting to cuddling.
"Yes," Tobirama must see his incomprehension and elaborates. "Anija."
Oh, of course.
That single word is explanation enough for anyone.
Madara himself has been subjected to enough hugs from Hashirama to know that it often feels like being assaulted by an overly affectionate tree, and Tobirama grew up with the man. Cuddling is probably not the worst thing that Hashirama has inflicted on him.
"Right, sorry anyway." Madara tries to fight down his blush but knows he's having very limited success. "So, uh, mission?"
"Of course." Tobirama seems impervious to the awkwardness, folding his futon away so their hosts won't have to do it, and Madara makes haste to copy him.
The less he has to think about cuddling Tobirama the better.
Diplomatic missions are far safer territory.
