“Jax…” Pomni says uneasily, but she knows he can’t hear her.
“Don’t you guys think this is going a little too slow?” Jax asks before shoving the lever upward.
“Jax—!!” Pomni hears Gangle squawk before she cuts herself off with a yelp.
The carousel stutters for just a second before spurring into much faster motion than before, faster than Pomni thought a merry-go-round could go. It’s so sudden that Pomni jolts forward and is shoved into the pole by the unexpected acceleration, and she feels herself slip on the slick saddle beneath her. She wobbles unsteadily, and the up and down locomotion of her horse does not help her regain her balance in the slightest. In fact, she loses it even more, and oh how she longs for that hand on her waist from her memory to keep her in place.
