Logan tried to dismiss the sickening churn in his stomach. He was here to relax, to enjoy a rare moment of peace with Wade. But the way the waitress’s eyes flickered back to Wade, almost dismissing Logan, and the way Wade’s laughter rang out with a hint of flirtatiousness—it all gnawed at him.
He forced himself to focus on the mundane details—the way the rain traced patterns down the window, the murmur of conversations around him. Maybe he was just imagining things, overthinking. His foggy mind, affected by the cloudy weather and heavy emotions, could be deceiving him.
Despite his best efforts, Logan’s internal turmoil simmered. Each time Wade laughed a little too loudly or made another playful quip, Logan’s irritation bubbled beneath the surface. The waitress’s fleeting glances and Wade’s seemingly cheerful interaction added to his discomfort.
