The Guide took both of Nadja’s hands in her own, leaned in, and asked, “So you’re telling me you have no close female friends?”
Nadja was close now—close enough that the Guide could see the little flecks of gold in her green irises. The Guide realized this is maybe the closest she’d ever been to Nadja, their faces mere inches apart. She felt as if time had slowed down. Her eyes darted from Nadja’s own, down to her mouth. God, what she would give to take those luscious red lips in her own. She watched as Nadja’s lips parted. Oh, this is really happening now, the Guide thought. Nadja took a breath…and replied, “None at all!”
