Happy Birthday Fae

Summary:

Sportacus finally finds out when Robbies birthday is and decides to throw him a party!

Work Text:

Sportacus smiled wide as he looked at the piece of paper in his hand. It had taken days of sorting through old town hall records to get it, but he finally had it.

Robbies birthday!

"Thank you for your help Bessie." Sportacus says as he tucks the paper into his vest pocket, picking up the last few boxes of files to put back in the attic.

"Oh, it was no trouble at all." Bessie says from her seat at the desk. "I'm just glad we found it. I was starting to think it wasn't in there."

"Me too." He says with a chuckle.

"Any special plans for Robbie?" Bessie asks.

"I'm not sure." Sportacus answers. "I wanted to give him a party, but I'm not sure I can put one together in two day."

"That's a marvelous idea!" Bessie says as she picks up the phone. "And I know just the person who can plan a party fast."

---------------------

Sportacus and Robbie had just celebrated their one year anniversary as an official couple when the hero had realized that in that year they had celebrated everyone's birthday except Robbies. Sportacus was filled with guilt when he realized he had been in Lazytown eight years and had never celebrated Robbies special day. He had tried to ask when it was but the fae was too stubborn to tell him.

"You don't know?" Robbie had said when the elf had finally found the courage to ask him. "Figure it out yourself if you wanna know so bad."

So he did. It had taken a lot of asking around, but thankfully Bessie was ready to help. They had spent four days digging through box after box of old files before Sportacus had pulled out the best piece of paper he had ever seen.

"Hey Sportacus!" Stephanie calls as she joins the hero on the sports field.

"Hi Stephanie!" He says as he jumps down from the wall he had been doing push-ups on. "Thanks for coming."

"No problem." She says. "I was so excited when Bessie told me you finally found out Robbies birthday. I've asked him so many times since I moved to town and he would never say. It was always 'figure it out'. Now, let's get started!"

--------------------

Sportacus slides down the hatch, landing with a flip. He looks over to see Robbie stretched out on the couch asleep. The hero hated to wake him up knowing how much trouble the fae had getting any sleep, but he knew it would be worth the crankiness once Robbie saw why. He makes his way over, kneeling in front of him he places a soft kiss to Robbies forehead, jumping back as his villain swung his arms in surprise.

"What!? Why!? Where!?" Robbie blabbers out as he looks around, eyes landing with a glare at his elf. "The next words out of your mouth had better be 'the lairs on fire', or else your sleeping alone on the couch for the next week, Sportaflop." Sportacus laughs, causing Robbie to scowl at him as he sits up.

"I'm sorry to wake you." Sportacus says standing up. "But I have something special for you."

"The last time you said that, I ended up with rug burn." Robbie says, smiling at the blush now on the elfs face.

"N-not that." Sportacus says. "It's at town hall."

"Town hall?" Robbie says eyeing him suspiciously. "What could possibly be at town hall for me?"

"You'll just have to come and see!" Sportacus says as he holds out his hand, pulling Robbie to his feet. The fae let's out a sigh but allows the eager elf to lead him out of the lair and into town.

--------------------

"Ok, close your eyes!" Sportacus says as they stand outside the door.

"Why?" Robbie says, still looking down at the hero with suspicion.

"Please?" Sportacus says, looking up at him with puppy dog eyes.

'It should be illegal to be this cute.' Robbie thinks as he let's out a groan. "Fine." Robbie closes his eyes, Sportacus taking his hand and leading him inside.

"Ok, and open your eyes!" Sportacus tells him. Robbie opens his eyes, jumping back with a yelp.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBBIE!!"

Robbie looks around, all of the kids along with Ms. Busybody and the mayor are there. The entire room has been decorated with balloons and streamers, all in different shades of purple and maroon. There is a pile of presents sitting on the mayor's desk, next to a giant cake with purple and blue frosting.

"What is this?" Robbie asks with a nervous fidget.

"It's your birthday party!" Stephanie says as she comes up and hands him a party hat, the fae bending down to allow her to place it on his head.

"MY birthday party?" Robbie says looking over to Sportacus.

"You told me to figure it out, so I did!" Sportacus says triumphantly as he swaps his cap for one of the party hats. "With some help, of course." He smiles at Bessie.

"You did all this for me?" Robbie says in a small voice.

"Well, I did have a lot of help from everyone." Sportacus says as the kids gather around him.

"Why?" Robbie asks.

"We wanted to celebrate your special day!" Stephanie says. "We would have done it sooner if you weren't so stubborn about telling us." She gives him a playful glare, getting him to smile.

"You didn't have to do all this." Robbie says looking at the ground. "My birthdays nothing special, just another day of the year."

"Of course it's special!" Sportacus says as he takes Robbies hand. "It's the day the love of my life came into the world." He places a kiss to the villains cheek, earning a few 'awws' and one 'ew' from the group. Robbie blushes hard as he looks at Sportacus.

"Alright love birds, enough smooching. Cake time!" Trixie says, earning a cheer from the kids.

Robbie holds Sportacus back as the rest of the group gather around the cake.

"Thank you." Robbie says, his cheeks still red. "You didn't have to do all of this though."

"I know." Sportacus says. "But I have eight years to make up for. Just wait till next year when we have more time to plan!"

They join everyone at the cake, Bessie lighting the candles as they all sing Happy Birthday. Robbie can't help the smile that spreads across his face as they sing.

'Maybe I should have told them sooner!'
