Grian thought he had enough time before it started to really start storming for him to fly back but it seems he underestimated how fast the storm was to move. He huffed as he fell from the air after attempting to take flight yet again, his face meeting the wet grass yet again.
He needed to find sanctuary - and fast. He needed to get someplace dry so he could dry off - his clothes espically - in time for when the sun came out again. He looked up from where he landed and saw the old oak tree that a certain elf friend of his had built a home into.
He ran up to the door and quickly knocked, wanting out ot the rain already. When no one responded, he checked his comms, seeing that Scar was - in fact - online and whispered if he could take refuge inside his home. When Scar didn't respond, Grian felt panic beginning to arise because he needed shelter.
In his panic, however, he remembered the fact that Scar mentioned that his doors were always unlocked. Grian tested the handle and saw it open. He quickly rushed into the home, slamming it shut behind him and catching his breath.
He was safe from the rain. He was now starting to shiver from how wet he got from the cold rain and stripped off his sweater, seeing that even his under shirt got wet. That's okay. He'll see if Scar will be willing for him to borrow a shirt. His pants, however, were going to be dreadful, but he'll have to be willing to endure that pain until he's home.
He hung his sweater up on a loose branch that stuck in from the tree before wandering around the home. He was curious as to why Scar hadn't responded. It didn't show Scar as asleep, so that couldn't be an option. Maybe he was caught up with a build and the rain didn't even phase him in his hyperfocus. Yeah. That's pretty likely.
Grian knew Scar to hyperfocus a lot on builds, wanting to keep his steady flow even if it meant he would go hours awol. It's what made him a great builder, after all.
Grian made it to the top of the stairs and almost didn't hear the quiet sobs from inside a closet.
Keyword, almost.
If it wasn't for a loud snap of thunder, he wouldn't have heard the loud whimper afterwards. His brows furrowed. Who else would be here..? Grian didn't think there was anyone else who would have business in Scar's home and Scar wasn't home..! Right..?
Grian crept up to the closet and silently opened it, seeing a brown haired individual curled into a ball and shoulders rising and falling as they let out sobs. He quickly crawled into the closet and knew the other heard him by now.
"Gri..an..?" A broken voice asked and Grian carefully shut the closet behind him "Mmhmm.. Hi Scar.." Grian hummed, cringing at his wet clothes still touching his skin. "Why- What are you doing here..?" Scar asked, sniffling before jumping at thunder shaking the entire tree.
"Got caught in the rain" Grian answered, resting his head against the back of the closet "You want to tell me why you're curled up in a closet..?"
Scar looked away before nodding slowly "I.. Don't tell anyone else about this. I'm kinda scared of thunderstorms. Something about the noise gives me the heebie jeebies and it leads to me needing to hide"
"Hm.." Grian hummed before asking "Can I touch you?" Scar paused for a second before nodding. Grian leant forward and pulled Scar into a hug. "How long have you been scared of thunderstorms?"
"For as long as I can remember." Scar murmured, his tensions melting away in Grian's arms before they returned again with another thing of thunder. "We've had plenty of storms in that time. Is this what you've just been doing this entire time?" Grian asked, rubbing small shapes into the other's skin.
Scar nodded and hummed, relaxing under his touch again "Pretty much. Jellie is usually here for comfort, but she immediately skid to hide under my bed before I could get her."
Grian stifled a chuckle "Sounds like her" He moved his other arm up to play with Scar's hair. "How come you're wet?" Scar asked, pressing the side of his head against Grian's chest. "I got caught in the rain and couldn't get out because it didn't let up at all" Grian explained.
"I think I-" Scar started, but got caught off with a loud thunderclap before the entire tree shook. He let out a loud terrified yelp and buried himself as close as he could into Grian. Grian hummed a quiet tune, trying to calm him back down again by lazily playing with the elf's hair and petting his back.
"You were saying?" Grian asked once he felt Scar relax once more. "Mmn.. Right.." Scar murmured lazily "I think I have some clothes you can borrow when the storm is done" Grian smiled a little and said "Thank you" Scar nodded and smiled up at him "Of course"
Grian then felt Scar fall slack in his arms and he looked down, seeing that Scar had passed out. Grian stifled a small laugh at how fast Scar was out. He couldn't blame Scar, he must've been terrified all on his own. He's just glad now that Scar was asleep - Scar was a heavy sleeper and hopefully wouldn't wake up to the loud thunderclaps.
Grian pressed a small kiss on the top of the sleeping elf's head before listening to the sounds of the storm outside. This closet didn't do much to mask the sound, but Grian knew it was the closest spot Scar must've found to hide.
He found it intriguing how Scar was terrified of storms. Grian knew that Scar must've been terrified of something, but he didn't predict storms. Scar would talk about how he enjoyed the sound of rain, but then again, rain and thunderstorms aren't exactly the same.
He was grateful he found Scar when he did. Being alone while you're absolutely terrified is the worst feeling, Grian would know. He now knows what to check immediately as soon as a storm appears.
He continued playing with Scar's hair, a small smile on his lips. He's glad that Scar's finally able to get through the storm without fear. He'll talk to Scar about it when he's awake again, but for now, he'll let the poor elf rest.
Grian sighed happily and peeked out of the closet. The storm won't be over for another hour or so, so he might as well get comfortable. He shifted a little, making sure he didn't wake Scar, before letting him rest against his chest.
He let the sleep take over and before he knew it, he was out like a light.
He hopes Scar will be okay.
