Work Text:
They don't really celebrate Christmas in the Gojo Clan. Satoru got whatever he wanted all year round, so birthdays and Christmas were no different.
They didn’t decorate, didn't play Christmas music, didn't watch any holiday movies, they didn't even say “Merry Christmas.”
Even though the house looked the same as it did all year. The energy was horribly depressing, because while people shined their lights and played their songs for miles. The Gojo Clan mansion was just like a hole in the middle of it all.

Moral of the story is, Satoru was not used to Christmas. So when Suguru turned around and looked at him like he was a maniac after he asked “What is that?” to the large tree sitting in the entryway of the dorm building, he was confused to say the least.
“It's a Christmas Tree Satoru. Your birthday has passed so it's time to start decorating for Christmas.”
“Why?”
“Oh I’m sorry, are you used to having maids decorate the house for you during Christmas time?” Suguru teased, with no real malice behind his words, but Satoru still felt a little wounded.
“I’ve never celebrated Christmas before. I have no idea how to do Christmas.”
“Are you Jewish? Do Jewish Japanese people even exist?”
“I’m not sure, and no, I’m not Jewish. They just never did Christmas in my house.”
“But Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year.”
“The most wonderful times of my year were when I was left alone.” Suguru gawked. Satoru wasn't sure if he liked the attention that was on him at that moment.
“This year… will be your first Christmas. And I will make it the best damn Christmas you ever have.” Satoru laughed out loud at Suguru’s determination.
“We’ll see just how far that determination can get you Suguru.”
December 10th, 2005
Satoru was rudely awakened by banging on his door. He turned over and looked at the alarm clock on his nightstand. It read ‘9:34’ and Satoru audibly groaned. It was Saturday, who in the hell was waking him up so damn early. The banging sounded again, only even louder this time.
“Satoru~ wake up, we’re going shopping!” Suguru shouted from the other side of the door.
“It’s too early for shopping.” Satoru groaned and turned over.
“Good Christmas shopping happens early, you have 20 minutes to get your ass up before I do it for you. So hurry.”
Satoru groaned again and threw his pillow at the door with force. He’s sure Suguru heard the loud thud when the sound of his hearty laughter traveled away from his door.
Satoru did just lay there for a good 10 minutes before hopping up and getting ready. Which took him another 20 minutes, Suguru never busted in despite his threat.
When he made his way outside, he saw Suguru standing there clicking away on his phone, probably playing a game.
“Hey.” Satoru called out, Suguru looked up from his phone, seeming slightly surprised but then smiled genuinely at Satoru, making heat rise to his cheeks. He just blamed it on the cold.
“I expected you to take longer.”
“Would you have waited longer?”
“For you? Of course.” Satoru ignores the way his heartbeat picks up speed at the comment.
“Today we’re buying presents for Shoko, Utahime, and the upperclassman. We’ll do the teachers' presents tomorrow.”
“Why do you buy people presents?”
“Oh wow this is really real…” Suguru was kind of in denial that Satoru knew absolutely nothing about Christmas and he’s realizing now just how sheltered some people can be.
“Technically, it’s because Christmas is the birthday of Jesus and you give gifts as a tradition to honor some biblically important people giving gifts to baby Jesus, but lots of people don't think of it like that. But as a time to gather as a family and show love and appreciation to each other at the year's end. That’s how my parents celebrated anyway.”
“I don't love and appreciate Utahime.”
“Yes you do, let's go.”
Before this day Satoru had never done genuine shopping for himself. His servants always brought him store catalogs and he’d just pick out what he wanted and they’d bring it to him, no questions asked. Even now, he usually reached out to someone else to buy his necessities for him, because that was just the norm for him.
So when Satoru saw the glowing bright Christmas lights in front of the huge mall, he was marveled to say the least.
“It’s so pretty!”
“Isn’t it?” Satoru looked over at Suguru to find him staring at him and puffed out his cheeks in a pout.
“You’re not even looking, Suguru!”
“I can see all the lights in the reflection of your eyes, don't worry. Plus, I’ve been here plenty of times, let’s go.”
They went from store to store picking out gifts for each person and Satoru was wondering if he was this hard to shop for. It wasn't a matter of trying to find the right gift, it was trying to locate the right gift. They knew exactly what they were getting, just not where to find it. And Satoru, being a new shopper, is thinking with his eyes and not his brain.
Half of the unnecessary shit he bought, he most definitely would not need in 3 weeks, but Suguru didn't say no to him once. Satoru’s heart fluttered at this realization, but again, he ignored it.

By the end of the shopping trip, Satoru was holding many heavy bags and was extremely lightheaded. It wasn't the extra weight that made him feel like he was on the verge of collapse, but all the exposure. So many lights, people, voices, and so many new things. He was taking in way too much information and he was terribly overwhelmed.
“Suguru…” He called weakly. Suguru noticed the waver in his voice and was at Satoru’s side immediately.
“What’s wrong? Are you okay?”
“My head hurts real bad. It’s pounding so hard.” It was then that Satoru’s arms gave out, dropping all the bags he held, thankfully there was nothing fragile in the ones he had been holding.
Suguru’s face contorted in concern and he internally thanked Satoru for stopping right in front of the resting area, he dropped his bags and walked Satoru to sit down. He went back to grab all their bags, placing them neatly on the floor in front of them.
It was when he went to wrap his arms around Satoru that he noticed his infinity flaring all over the place.
“Satoru, you have to drop your infinity. You’re only overstimulating yourself even more by trying to keep it up.”
“I can't do that Suguru, there’s still-” Satoru shut himself up when he sensed Suguru discreetly activating his technique. The presence of multiple curses all around the mall suddenly overtaking his senses.
“I’ve got curses everywhere okay? You can let it down, nothing will happen to you as long as I’m right here, okay?”
“Mmh.. Okay Suguru.” Satoru dropped his infinity and let himself be completely at Suguru’s mercy. Satoru didn't question why Suguru placed soft kisses on his head and whispered sweet nothings to him as he calmed down. Soon after his infinity dropped, he blacked out and had no idea what happened afterwards.

It was around 3 p.m. when Satoru woke up, surprisingly in his own room. He knew he overdid it yesterday and so he was expecting to wake up in the infirmary with Shoko. But he was alone in here, and thankfully so, he was so hyper aware of everything right now.
His body ached and he felt extremely uncomfortable against his sheets. He was sweating buckets and it was starting to genuinely stain his sheets.
Distantly he heard a voice conversing and laughing with other people. Because of how far it was, they had to be in the entryway.
“-allowed to see.” He could only make out certain parts of the conversation, but he could tell it was Suguru talking to someone.
“Suguru…” And suddenly something was very, very wrong. He was fine before (he wasn't), but now that he knew that Suguru was out there laughing and conversing with someone else and not here with him, it made his cursed energy flare out of control.
Satoru was genuinely pretty fucking scared. He didn't know what was happening or why it was happening. He hadn't even realized he’d called someone until they picked up.
“Satoru? Are you alright?”
“uh.. no.” He managed to get out and then his phone beeped, indicating that Suguru hung up on him. In a matter of 15 seconds Suguru was at his door, pushing it open with force, making Satoru flinch.
“Hey, what’s happening? Why’s your cursed energy all over the place?”
“I-I don't know. It just happened.” Satoru was still overwhelmed from what happened yesterday and this was not helping. He didn't even realize he’d started crying until Suguru wiped the tears off of his face.
“It's okay Satoru, you’ll be alright.” Suguru hugged him, pulling his face closer to his chest, laying the both of them down on Satoru’s bed.
Growing up in the Gojo household, Satoru rarely ever went outside of their massive yard. He was never exposed to things that would make him weak, only what would make him stronger. His clan probably thought he could get so strong that exposing him to his weaknesses would be futile, since he’d be able to fight them at some point. But Satoru was just barely 16, he hadn't gotten that far.
So it was okay for him to cuddle up with his best friend after experiencing genuine fear for the first time in a long, long while. It was alright for Suguru to kiss his forehead and tell him it's going to be okay. It was normal for both their hearts to be beating like crazy. And it definitely was just fine for them to say they love each other in such an intimate situation.

December 17, 2005
It wasn’t.
It had been almost a week since Satoru and Suguru somewhat confessed their love for each other ever so casually, like it was the most normal thing on Earth for two highschool boys to be in love. Love Satoru didn't even know had in the first place.
The entire week he was hyper aware of everything Suguru did for him and to him. How he got his long, sweet ass coffee order every morning, which was genuinely more milk and cream than coffee, how 80% of the candy he ate nowadays was given to him by Suguru. How his hand was always on the small of his back or wrapped around his waist when they stood next to each other. How often they actually had intimate moments, like holding hands, hugging for longer than best friends should be hugging, flirty conversations, lingering stares, and all the fucking kisses Suguru gave him. His head, his forehead, his cheeks, his nose, and even his hands (Satoru refuses to admit how bad it turns him on when Suguru kisses his palms). Everywhere but his lips, the place where Satoru was internally hoping he would kiss until they were swollen.
And the worst part about it all was that it was all like second nature for Satoru. He didn't know when he fell into this routine of basically being boyfriends with his best friend but he didn't hate it, like at all. He craved it in fact, whenever Suguru’s attention was not on him in some way, shape, or form, he felt like he was dying.
Satoru wanted nothing more than to put a label on their relationship. He couldn't keep calling Suguru his best friend with this suddenly recognized physical and romantic attraction.
“Satoru? What's wrong?” Suguru whispered into his ear. Satoru was suddenly brought back to the situation at hand. He was at a cafe with Shoko, Utahime, and Suguru.
“Nothing, it's alright.” Suguru’s hand tightened around his thigh, rubbing comfortingly across his denim jeans.
“If you wanna go back just let me know, okay?” Suguru’s breath on his ear was honestly so hot, Satoru felt such a heavy fluttering in his stomach.
“Yeah okay.” He breathed out. Satoru tried to refocus on the conversation his three friends were having around him, he did. But Suguru’s hand hadn't left his thigh and the more he rubbed the further up it moved.
Satoru, despite himself, had to grab Suguru’s hand and stop him. Making Suguru aware of how flustered he was and the boner that was embarrassingly starting to form in his pants. Suguru chuckled and looked away. Fuck him honestly. Satoru wished he could.

“Satoru, do you wanna head back to Jujutsu Tech with the girls, I have some more shopping to do.”
“No, let me go with you.” Satoru retorted quickly.
“I can't Satoru, we’ve been out all day. I wouldn't forgive myself if I let you stay out and you had another incident. I can already tell you’re tired.” And he was. Honestly, Satoru wanted to go back to his dorm and cuddle up with Suguru more than anything in the world right now. But he’d rather be with Suguru outside, than be cooped up in his dorm all alone.
“Then come back with me. Please Suguru.” He begged, putting on his best pout. Suguru sighed, giving Satoru an apologetic smile.
“I won’t be long, Toru, I promise.” He pulled Satoru by the waist and kissed his cheek. Satoru pouted in his face one last time to see if he’d give in, but Suguru just kissed his nose this time.
“I promise.” Satoru sighed but got in the car and left with Shoko and Utahime.
“When did you and Suguru start going out?” Utahime asks with a smirk. Satoru flushes hard and it makes both the girls laugh.
“Suguru and I aren't dating.”
“Bullshit.” Shoko says immediately.
“I mean it. We may act the way we do but we aren't like together together.”
“But you like him don't you?”
“I think I’m in love with him actually,” He confesses like it was an obvious fact. Shoko and Utahime both smirk in his direction at this.
“You should buy him a gift to show him just how much you love him.” Satoru looked suspiciously at the two girls who looked so sinister that he wanted to jump out the car window.
“Maybe I will.”

Honest to whatever God there was out there, Satoru felt like sobbing his eyes out.
He’d been going gift shopping with Suguru all week, he’d bought gifts for everyone he knew. But he just couldn't figure out what Suguru wanted. He got so desperate he straight up asked him what he wanted for Christmas and Suguru had the audacity to think about it for 30 long seconds before deciding “I don't know” was a good enough answer for Satoru.
He felt so bad because he knew Suguru had bought him gifts and yet he had no idea what to give him. He was absolutely distraught. He spent every day with Suguru, trying to see if he’d drop hints about something he wanted. He bought him things to see what type of gifts he reacted well to, but nothing was good enough. None of his reactions screamed: “Oh my god, this is the best gift I’ve ever been gifted and I’ll love you forever because of it! Will you marry me, Satoru Gojo?!”
Maybe that was a bit far fetched for a Christmas Gift reaction, but it was what he was looking for nonetheless. Satoru had no idea what he was going to do and it was stressing him out more than he wished.
He decided that checking a different mall by himself one last time was the only option he had left. Satoru wandered through bustling holiday markets, searching for the perfect Christmas gift for Suguru. He browsed shelves lined with trinkets and scoured boutiques for something unique. His frustration only rose as the clock ticked away, but determination fueled his quest, until it dwindled.
After 4 hours, Satoru went back to the dorms exhausted and quite literally on the verge of collapse.
He swung open the door to his room to find Suguru already there.
“Suguru!” He called out softly, all his spirits lifted when Suguru smiled at him. Satoru shut the door and shuffled to his bed, laying on top of him, immediately getting comfortable.
“What have you been doing for so long, Satoru?” Suguru purred as he rubbed Satoru’s back carefully, both of them warm and content laying in each other's arms.
“I was trying to find you your perfect Christmas present.” He mumbled into Suguru’s chest. Suguru chuckled, successfully making Satoru’s heart flutter.
“Still? I already told you I’d be happy with anything you got me.”
“But-”
“I'm not at all as materialistic as you are Satoru. I’ll love whatever you give me, as long as it's from you.” Satoru’s eyes widened and he buried himself deeper in Suguru’s chest.
“Then I know exactly what to give to you.”
“I’m glad.”

December 24, 2005
It was 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve when Satoru finally mustered up the courage to give Suguru his gift. He had been trying to talk himself out of it all day but even when he asked other people they either told him, “Getou will love that” or “It's Christmas Eve, it's either this or nothing.” He was nervous out of his mind, but he had to do this or else they’d get nowhere.
Satoru: Suguruuu! >.<
Suguru: Yes?
Satoru: It’s time for our gift exchange!
Suguru: Our what?
Satoru: I looked it up, and it said online that many teenagers do a gift exchange with one gift on Christmas Eve, like a small pre-Christmas.
Suguru: And why are we doing that?
Satoru: Because my gift to you is personal, so I’d rather I give it to you when we’re alone.
Suguru: So am I going to your room then?
Satoru: Yes, and bring one of the gifts you got me!
Suguru: Will do, on my way.
Satoru set his phone down and let out a shaky sigh and prayed that Suguru would like his gift, or else he’d probably off himself.
In less than a minute, Suguru knocked on his door and let himself in. Satoru was sitting on the floor, patiently waiting.
“Hey.” Suguru sat right in front of him, a small blue box with a purple ribbon in his hand.
“Hi. So um, you have to go first.” Satoru said nervously. Suguru nodded and handed Satoru the box, looking at him expectantly. Satoru took the lid off to find circular black glasses.
“They’re special sunglasses, so you won't get overstimulated so easily in public and so we can go out more.” He explained. Satoru was so wrapped up in his gift to Suguru, that he hadn't even thought about what Suguru would get him. But honestly, even if he had thought about it, he probably wouldn't have come up with this anyway.
“Suguru…” The words caught in Satoru’s throat. No one had ever gotten him such a thoughtful gift. They were just sunglasses, but these would change Satoru’s entire way of life. Could Satoru’s gift change Suguru’s entire way of life?
“Thank you.”
“Your welcome, Satoru.” Satoru gently placed the glasses back in their box and stood up.
“My turn. I’ll be right back.” Satoru stepped inside his closet and Suguru tilted his head in confusion at the rustling coming from inside.
“Close your eyes, Suguru!”
“Okay!” Suguru’s eyes shut as he waited for Satoru to come out. He could hear the door open and something settled down in front of him.
“Okay.. open them.”
In front of him was Satoru, sat on his knees, dressed in all red with a red ribbon tied from his chin to the top of his head.
“Merry Christmas.” He said meekly, making small jazz hands as he watched Suguru’s eyes widen, traveling from his face, down, and back up again.
“What-” Suguru started, but Satoru cut him off before he could continue.
“My gift to you is me and so if you accept your gift, which is me , it’ll be yours.”
“It’ll be mine?”
“Yes.”
“So you’ll be mine?”
“Mhm.”
“As in-”
“YES! Suguru, yes.”
Suguru sat there dumbfounded for a second before doubling over in laughter.
“Suguru, this isn’t funny!” Satoru pouted as his cheeks flushed bright red. Shit, he was gonna cry. Is this was humiliation felt like?
“Oh god, you’re so cute Satoru.” He whispered and before Satoru could complain further he was pulled into Suguru’s lap and Suguru’s lips were on his.
Satoru didn't close his eyes at first and his hands gripped hard on Suguru’s shoulders, nearly paralyzed from the shock of Suguru kissing him. But as Suguru deepened the kiss, he found it harder to keep them open, so he let them fall, once again letting himself be completely at Suguru’s mercy.
Suguru wrapped his arms around Satoru, pulling him impossibly closer and Satoru let his arms fall around Suguru’s neck. Satoru couldn't fight back the moan that escaped him as Suguru’s tongue played with his. Suguru’s hand moved down from his waist to his ass, grabbing at it hard, making Satoru whimper.
Suguru was the first to pull away from their heated makeout session. Simply stared at Satoru as they caught their breath.
“So you like your gift?” Satoru spoke up first.
“I might just be obsessed with it. You’re all I’d ever want for Christmas, Satoru.”
“That's great because I had no idea what else to get you.” Satoru let out a big sigh of relief and Suguru could only laugh out loud.
“I’m so in love with you, Satoru.”
“I love you too.” He whispered despite his flustered state.
“I’ve known you were in love with me for a while you know. I was baffled about how straightforward you were until I realized you probably weren't aware of your own feelings.” Satoru flushed at Suguru’s statement, he’d been scared of rejection over nothing.
“I wasn't sure what falling in love felt like up until recently..” He whispered to him. Suguru only smiled all dopey and hugged Satoru down onto the floor with him.
“I’ll show you how great love can be, I promise.”
“I look forward to that. Merry Christmas, Suguru.”
“Merry Christmas, my love.”
