Chapter Text

The cold winter air nipped at Berrynose’s large Black nose as he trudged through the snow. A light layer of snow laced his light brown tabby fur as his white paws stung from the cold snow

Soon the trees grew young as he made his way out of the dense forest. Thousands of stars filled the sky above him as He stepped onto the cold gray rock that stuck out the ground and reached high into the sky. At its peak he stood as a shiver racked his entire body. He shifted into a bow, flinching when his soft belly touched the stone

“Oh star clan, please give me warmth…” he whined as he shook again. “And please give me a reason to have come out here on this cold leaf bare night...”

He shut his eyes

Soon the wind stopped and the ground didn’t feel so cold. He kneaded a paw into the ground to make sure he was where he needed to be. Soft grass ran through his toes. A smile creeped onto his face as he lifted his head.

He laid in an open field full of tall grass that swayed in the wind with every breeze.

“Well this is a first! I’ve never seen this place look like this before.” He purred as he stretched. He sat down, curling his tail around his paws as he waited patiently.

From the distance, seemingly out of thin air, something in the grass moved towards him. He craned his neck in an attempt to see who was coming to see him this half moon.

A small kit with sweet yellow fur sprang out in front of him. Her light blue eyes were littered with stars as did her pelt. A big smile sat on her white muzzle as she looked up at Berrynose.

“Shinekit!” Berrynose gasped. “It’s been so long!” He knelt down and nuzzled the top of her head. The warmth he should have felt was missing and was replaced with an odd nothingness.

Shinekit excitedly bumped his head. “I Missed you too!”

Berrynose laid down so that he could be at her eye level. “I didn’t think they’d send you to speak to me! Is there anything interesting you need to tell me?” He smiled

Her eyes widened “ yes yes!!! Tigerstripe said I could do it today!”

“Is he here now?” Berrynose said as he looked past her into the grass around them. His eyes met with a pair of warm blue eyes, Tigerstripe smiled and waved when he noticed he’d been caught.

“Yeah. He said I couldn’t do it alone…” she pouted as Berrynosse waved back. “ So come here and let me whisper it to you!” She whispered

Berrynose let out a small laugh as he leaned in closer. Shinekit raised a paw to cover her mouth as she whispered into his ear.

Fiercestar stood upon the stone that stood at the center of camp. His dark grayish blue pelt blended in with the night sky, his long furred tail wrapped around his gray paws. He watched the stars lost in thought.

Berrynose leaped his way up the stone and sat down next to Fiercestar nervously. For a moment the world was silent, uncomfortably silent.

“Did they say anything?” Fiercestar asked without looking at him

“yes,” his voice cracked. “yes they did…” he finished after cleaning his throat.

“Well?”

“Um, they said- uh…” Berrynose shuffled his paws

“Just say it!” Fiercestar snapped, his shredded ears pinned to his head.

“It was a prophecy!” Berrynose squeaked “that said only after blood is spilled will the sun rise!”

“What does that mean?”

“I’m not sure, but I’ll check my herd stores in case whatever this is happens soon.”

“Good.” Fiercestar said coldly as he focused his eyes back on to the stars

“What do you think is going to happen? Will it be bad?” Berrynose said anxiously

“…”

“Okay, then…” he whispered to himself. He looked around at the camp's walls, seeing if there were any holes or weak spots. Soon his eyes fell on the camps entrance and watched as Hailstorm made her way in with-

“F-Fiercestar…? Berrynose nudged Fiercestar

He growled at the sudden touching “what?”

Berrynose felt his tail puff up as his heart began to race. “Who are those cats???” He choked as he pointed at Hailstorm's entourage of a black cat and a orange cat.

A small glance was all Fiercestar needed as he leapt off the stone and landed in front of them. He let out a long deep growl as he arched his back and swished his tail. “Hailstorm! Who are these cats?” He yowled

Hailstorm stood tall as she confidently stood in front of Fiercestar. “They need help.” She said plainly. “I-“

“Please sir, we need help!” The ginger she-cat interrupted “we need a place to stay!-“

“Was I TALKING to you?” Fiercestar snapped. The she-cat squeaked as she quickly glued herself to the side of the black tom.

“This she-cat is going to give birth soon and needs a safe place to stay!” Hailstorm continued.

Fiercestar glanced over to the she-cat. He belly bulged outward, clearly full of kits. But even though her thick ginger fur you could tell she was far too thin for a pregnant cat to be healthy . Her cheeks were noticeably sunken from the lack of food. His eyes fell onto her tattered green collar that matched her eyes.

“Don’t you have your two legs to feed you?” Fiercestar growled

“I don’t have any house folk to feed me, haven’t had any in a long time…”

His eyes fell onto the tall solid black Tom next to her. He had a long tear in his ear and two ice cold eyes. His shape wasn’t much better than the she-cat with an exception for his muscles that showed easily through his short fur.

With a quick sniff he could tell exactly what they were. “You brought Street cat FILTH into MY clan?” he said looking back at Hailstorm

“They. Need. Help.” She repeated slowly staring him dead and in the eyes.

“What are YOU here for?” He said focusing back on the black tom

“I’m her mate.”

FierceStar looked between the three of them then with a grumble he turned to look up at Berrynose who was peeking over the stone watching everything go down. “Take them to the medicine den and look them over.” He order

“And you…” Fiercestar locked eyes with Hailstorm. “We need to talk.”
