dreams.
dreams were weird, weren’t they?
everything was blurry and incomprehensible, their hands being a mismatched shape when looking down at it. and all they could do was watch, watch as their subconscious reached out for–
wait, electric eel cookie?
this.. this wasn’t for no reason, was it? what is this feeling.. the emptiness was far too much, even in their sleep they were able to tell when electric eel cookie was no longer there, it felt far too.. different for them to be unable to notice the difference.
their eyes abruptly shot open, they recognised this feeling.. the loneliness, the empty feeling of the bed…. oh fuck. they were no longer laying in bed with their beloved, were they? the only one that truly understood them.
did he leave them?
they switched over to lay on their back, eyes widening and jaw agape. they almost immediately crawled out of bed, scrambling their way to the living room, feeling as if they were about to burst out crying. it was pathetic, they knew that much.. but he didn’t tell them anything, nothing at all!
he abandoned you, accept that.
their eyes darted around the room, their legs having a mind of their own and waddling around to try and find him, the pale cookie wandering around aimlessly, as– well– he couldn’t of truly just.. left, right? he wouldn’t leave them, he was the only one that actually had any value to them!
he doesn’t love you.
their chest felt heavy, and tight, feeling as if it was a burden for them to carry, they grasped onto it, the pain ringing through their entire body. a few groans of pain left their mouth, the soreness growing stronger, soon enough– these groans turned into panting, and that panting turned into hyperventilating. it felt as if someone had stuffed a brick deep inside their chest, why did it feel so fucking heavy?!
their breathing turned very heavy very quickly, their panting rapidly growing in speed as if they couldn’t breathe– which, spoiler alert, is what they felt like. they gasped for air, shaky hands reaching up to their face to find–
oh, tears.
they were crying, and they hadn’t even realised. haha… god, they felt horrid.
their mind wandered all over the place, aimlessly wobbling around, and causing them to feel unnecessary and unneeded stress. this crying very quickly turned into sobbing, and this sobbing turned into full blown wheezes and heaves. their headache was so mild, ringing in their ears and being extremely bothersome and painful. the pale cookie gasped for air over and over, their mind at a halt until–
they felt familiar arms wrap around them, very.. very warm hands.
they looked up to see a blurry silhouette, they couldn’t make out what they were looking at due to their mind feeling as if someone scribbled all over it, thus halting their thinking process. but what they did know was it was a very familiar silhouette, and they could hear muffled coos, that slowly got more and more intelligible.
“take deep breaths, abby, everything will be okay.”
they followed these instructions, their breathing slowing down and all of the soreness they currently felt slowly but surely going away. they felt a hand press gently onto the very top of their head, this person beginning to run their hand through abyss monarch cookie’s hair.
the cookie comforting them wiped their tears away, before continuing to embrace them. and because of this.. eventually, and inevitably, their vision returned, and so did their hearing. they could now fully see this mysterious cookie, well.. not so mysterious anymore, right? nonetheless, it was electric eel cookie.
a smile formed on abyss monarch cookie’s face, tears still falling down but they didn’t care much anymore, as long as they had him. they shakily reciprocated the gentle embrace, sobbing into his shoulder as he rubbed circles on their back.
“it’s okay.. you’re okay, abby.” he soothed, his voice easily comforting the octopus cookie, showing how much they truly loved him. their sobbing inevitably came to a halt, and their breathing steadily returned to normal. they let out one last huff, before going limp in the other’s arms, electric eel cookie understanding and letting them rest in his arms.
after it had been about 10 minutes of the two just sitting on the floor in their living room, electric eel cookie could now ask them something, “you doing alright now?” he hummed, the cookie in his arms giving him a silent nod, being unable to muster much else out in terms of communication. “good.. good.” he continued, sitting there for a few more minutes in silence before asking another question,
“i’m guessing you didn’t see the note?”
their head shot up to stare at electric eel cookie, their eyes narrowing, and their eyebrow raising. he returned the stare, “the.. note? on the fridge?” he muttered, abyss monarch cookie’s eyes widening, and their head shaking to say ‘no’. they plopped their head onto his chest, electric eel cookie sighing. “that’s alright.. i just didn’t wanna disturb your beauty sleep.” he chuckled, and surprisingly, so did they.
“i’m sorry, abyss monarch cookie. for making you think i abandoned you or.. whatever happened. i just had to check something about the power in wandercrab, is all!” he apologised, a frown plastered across his face. his tone was very clearly genuine, and his eyes tilted downwards to signify his guilt and sorrow. they looked back up at him, and just hugged him– very tightly, mind you –being a way for them to signify they forgive him.
“it’s okay.” they finally spoke up, yet again resting their head in his chest. electric eel cookie just smiled, staying silent and lifting his hand up to continue gliding his hand through their hair, playing with it– while being gentle, of course.
“do you want to move to the bed, abby? it will probably be more comfortable.” he asked, stopping for a moment, before his face lit up, “i can carry you, if you’d like!” he chirped, continuing his sentence. abyss monarch cookie nodded, the electric eel very clearly feeling the movement.
he nodded, standing up while still holding them, carrying them all the way back to their bedroom. he delicately put them down on the bed; crawling on there himself, too, and pulling them into a hug, the covers being planted on top of the two.
this was way better.
