   Kowalski hates the color red.

   He despises it.

   To him, red is a looming and visceral reminder of his predicament. A hue that ignites a fire within his body like gasoline, stinging and boiling his blood. With each corner he turns in the hallways of Laska, each room and office he sweeps through, each glance or interaction with Uno, his sight always gets flooded with red. And the fact that red is everywhere, everyone, and everything makes it no better. In fact, it burns his blood. Scarring his entire body with the searing burns of guilt and anger.
