Work Text:
DT's neck jerked and they groaned in annoyance. They couldn't just get a moment of peace, could they?
Sea Hawk stirred in his sleep and the reptile suddenly grew worried about the very real possibility of waking him with their tics.
They weren't sure why their tics were deciding to act up in the middle of the night, keeping them from getting rest, but there wasn't much they could do about that, was there?
A high pitched throat noise suddenly forced itself from their vocal chords and Sea Hawk stirred a little more. He always was a light sleeper.
As the twitches and small noises grew more persistent, DT carefully got out of bed and walked out onto the balcony, shutting the door behind them so they could let out their tics without waking Sea Hawk up.
Their tics grew more severe, escalating to shouts and hitting themself. They were having a tic attack.
Lovely.
They weren't fully conscious of how loud they were being and they were briefly embarrassed at the thought of people on the ground below hearing their outbursts, but they couldn't stay embarrassed for too long when their whole body was convulsing in such an unpleasant manner.
They heard the door to the balcony slide open and suddenly there were strong but gentle hands on their shoulders and a familiar voice was filtering through the noise.
"Hey, dearest" Sea Hawk said gently. "Can you hear me?"
Through a string of random phrases and sounds, DT managed out a confirmation. Sea Hawk smiled weakly.
"Would it help for me to lie on top of you?" he asked, remembering a conversation they'd had after the first tic attack that he bore witness to. DT told him that pressure was often helpful, but to always ask for permission in the moment before doing anything. DT managed another confirmation, so Sea Hawk slowly positioned himself so that he was lying on top of them.
Their form shifted a few times without their consent (which they weren't too surprised by since their tics had included their shapeshifting for a while by this point), which was a little strange for Sea Hawk, but he didn't say anything.
Eventually, their tics began to slow down until they were back to just the occasional jerk or whistle.
They were utterly exhausted and began to fall asleep. Sea Hawk just kissed them on the cheek before picking them up bridal-style and bringing them back inside, tucking them into bed and hoping the next day would be kinder to them.
