Stop Time a Little Longer

Summary:

"Hmm, you sure? You can barely keep your eyes open."

"If I sleep I can't spend it with you though," he whined, fighting the sleep by squeezing his eyes shut.

Suguru gave him an uninterested once over until he failled, falling into soft laughter after seeing Satoru pout in the most spoiled way.

"Fine fine, baby. What do you want do? Just talk?"

"Yeah.. anything.. just with you," Satoru said softly, giving one of those lazy smiles that stuttered Suguru's entire being. Leapt his heart out of his chest and melted it back down.

Work Text:

They lay tangled in rumpled dorm room sheets, their limbs braided together and comfortably slotted in place. The biting frost of winter stayed trapped behind foggy glass, crinkling the edges with veins of ice.

The blustery gales of wind had been rumbling from outside all night and made their cocoon all the more warmer, the worn out cotton of their pj's softer. The soft thud of their heart beats and the sleepy slow sound of breaths was all that filled the room. In the low lamp light that bathed the room in a deep orange glow, everything had wound down to a peaceful stop. Time felt like it could stretch on forever here. At least they wanted it to.

Satoru blew a light breeze over Suguru's dangling bangs, soft and shiny from the evening shower and caused a smiling irritation to crease his tanned brow. Loose black hair pooled over his shoulders and the bangs now rested over half his face like a dark curtain.

"Stop that and go to sleep," Suguru blew another puff of air over his eye and settled the strands back into place.

"'M not tired," Satoru lied, sleep weighing his bones heavy into the mattress. His tongue rolled through all the counter complaints he could begin spouting off but instead settled with a quiet, almost needy "don't wanna be."

After an intense week of back to back missions, exhaustion was finally catching up on them. His arms were stiff, his eyes dry and sore. Sleep could easily snatch him and pull him down but he hadn't spent that much time with Suguru, let alone a space where they could stop and breathe without worry. Falling asleep now was as good as being alone.

One of Suguru's eyes opened to a slit, quiet concern looking him over.

"Hmm, you sure? You can barely keep your eyes open."

"If I sleep I can't spend it with you though," he whined, fighting the sleep by squeezing his eyes shut.

Suguru gave him an uninterested once over until he failed, falling into soft laughter after seeing Satoru pout in the most spoiled way.

"Fine fine, baby. What do you want do? Just talk?"

"Yeah.. anything.. just with you," Satoru said softly, giving one of those lazy smiles that stuttered Suguru's entire being. Leapt his heart out of his chest and melted it back down.

He huffed sinking further into his pillow, fingers coming up to pet and brush at warm cheeks.

"I'm excited for the break next week. If I had to go on another mission this year I'd cry," Suguru murmured, tracing lines down soft skin and chapped lips.

"Oh yeah," Satoru said absently, forgetting they had the week break coming up for New Year's. His arm felt warm, hidden under the duvet and tucked in around Suguru's waist.

"You doing anything?"

"Hm?"

"For New Years? You gunna head home?"

Satoru stilled, his wrapped arm becoming a little rigid. Suguru slowly stopped the light touches and watched him, as best as he could in the orange glow.

"Dunno," Satoru said eventually, lamely.

Suguru inwardly kicked himself for bringing it up. Satoru didn't much like talking about his home or parents that often. Anytime it was brought up the tone became icy and distant. It seemed New Years was no exception.

The dower mood and crinkly frown gave him the look of a kicked puppy, that Suguru was going to lose to every single time.

"You could come to mine. Instead, I mean."

"Huh?" the building storm that flickered behind Satoru's features fell as he stared at him. He seemed genuinely baffled but a spark of excitement twinkled over his blue eyes. "Seriously?"

"Yeah of course, mom loves having people over," Suguru smiled, tucking strands of white locks behind ears, swiping the bangs out of his eyes.

Even without infinity on Satoru's eyes still glittered.

"There's only one thing though," Suguru said seriously, looking up at him with concern.

Satoru looked back, ready to take on anything, the world even, just to get to spend New Year's Eve at Suguru's childhood home.

Suguru looked away, eyebrows drawn tight as he held a closed fist up to his mouth in apparent shame.

"There's only one bed..."

Satoru blinked at him.

Then an uncontrollable bark of laughter burst out from him. Suguru snickered back, happy to pull him out of the ruminating thoughts quicker than usual.

"There was only one bed!" Satoru cackled, kicking his feet.

"Shhh, dummy," Suguru laughed in whisper, pressing a finger up to his lips, "if you wake Shoko it's over for us."

Satoru's heavy laughs eased to tickling snickers as he bumped his nose against Suguru's to say 'yeah yeah I got it.

Their laughs died down to a stretched silence. The complete stillness and quiet of the dorm only made it worse. Their chests twitched, lips curling under teeth. The wind picked up and howled louder.

Satoru let a snort break free and they both exploded into a myriad of giggles, unable to stop the wave of laughter from bubbling up and over taking them. Infectious laughter caught hold of them and they were stuck in a loop of ebbing pants and painful wheezes.

Suguru's stomach hurt, the corners of his eyes filled with tears. He kicked at Satoru to stop, who kicked back and started a battle of footsie. Suguru successfully pinned down his socked ankles between his own and locked him in place with a grin.

Satoru gave up easily, falling back onto his pillow comfortably.

"It'll be tough managing it.. but I'll persevere," he said with a lazy smile.

"No truer bravery have I ever seen," Suguru grinned back and turned to switch off the lamp behind them.

The room flicked into darkness. The tulmutous wind outside swirled clouds, and now sleet, into pockets that punched against the sturdy wooden building.

"C'mere.." Satoru murmured quietly, reaching out his fingers to trace Suguru's silhouette.

The other scooted closer, arms wound in around the middle as he settled his head above Satoru's shoulder.

Hands came up to brush back dark, silky hair. Tucking it behind an ear as his thumb came down and lingered over a round piercing.

"Thanks for inviting me.. I'd love to go."

"I'd love you to come," Suguru smiled, tipping his head up to brush their noses.

Satoru leaned forward, closing the space between them into a delicate, featherlight kiss.

Suguru shifted, arms pulling him in closer as he kissed back just as softly. An inescapable smile tugging at the edges of his lips. The careful tenderness of it when an unbounding energy thrummed through their veins.

Worries and knots, unsureties and anxieties seemed to melt, replaced by the warm bloom that bled through their chests.

Suguru sighed, tilting his chin and moulded them closer together. Satoru's hands cupped at the base of his neck, tangling soft hair between bony knuckles.

Breaths turned greedy, lips moved a little more hurriedly. A want building up that coiled low and growled for more

Satoru licked past the seam of lips and rolled forward, tounge sliding and brushing up into heavy kisses. Suguru shuddered, goosebumps flaring over his arms despite the heat. His mouth parted helplessly, letting Satoru for a moment to wash over him starved and yearning.

It had been at least a week since they kissed like this, Suguru not realising how hungry he had gotten, how desperatley he had missed him.

He licked back, tongue rolling over in waves as his hands moved from waist up into Satoru's stretched, faded t-shirt. Blunt nails pressed into the soft, strong muscle of his back.

Satoru mumbled something, in-between the dance of lips. He snaked a leg free from their tangle and pressed it up inbetween Suguru's thighs. Suguru let out a small, involuntary gasp and surged forward.

He pushed his hips against Satoru and swerved him onto his back, settling atop in a quick motion.

His brow twitched with a tired smile. His eyes had adjusted enough to the dark to see Satoru struggling to blink past sleep, huffing heady breaths.

"Satoru."

"Mm?"

Fingers held onto the waist band of his pj's but the grip was slack, wavering into unconsciousness.

Suguru brushed ruffled, white hair off Satoru's forehead, "You're falling asleep.."

"'M not.."

"U-huh," Suguru rolled his eyes with a smile and climbed off him, settling back onto his side. He snaked his arm in behind the pillow and pulled Satoru to his chest.

He smelled like fresh linen and soap, hair so soft it pillowed his cheek. Suguru felt cosy enough to slip away into sleep just there. Then Satoru's voice vibrated against his chest again, his nose buried into the crease.

"What're you saying? What are you trying to say?" Suguru's voice soft and gentle, like honeyed syrup.

His hands came up to unstick Satoru enough to at least hear him.

"'N love... in like with you.. Sugu.."

Suguru's stomach did a mini somersault, his cheeks probably bright enough to light the room up in a beam of red.

It shouldn't have come as too much of a surprise. They had been dating for more than a year and the idea of Satoru not at his side now was incomprehensible. But to hear it from him, for them to both admit it like this. Suguru wished now the sleep wasn't tugging him down.

"Tell me in the morning, yeah?"

"Mm."

Suguru rested his head back to feather soft hair, arms entwined around him.

"And Sugu?" came a muffle.

"Hmm?"

"Sugu too?"

Suguru stopped then let out a small laugh. As if the Satoru didn't already hold his entire heart in the palms of his hands.

If Satoru worried with even the smallest amount of uncertainty then he would make sure there wasn't any doubt left.

"Yeah.. of course. I'm in love-like with you too," he pressed a smiling kiss to the edge of his temple. Sealing a promise between them.

Satoru let out a small 'heh' against him. The subtle line of tension that had clung to his shoulders dropped and he relaxed into Suguru's frame. His arms came up and wrapped around Suguru's middle, tugging him forward until their tummies met. Suguru pulled the duvet over them and bundled Satoru into his arms, nose pressed to soft white fluff.

Time really did stop there, in their dusty dorm room. As if the howling wind outside had stilled, the storms in their chests winding down to a peaceful beat. They slipped away with even breaths. Safe, warm and content.

Notes:

I meant to post this before New Years and forgot.. Something mindless and fluffy because they deserve happiness. :( I also love needy whiney Satoru and Suguru happily putting up with it. Maybe there will be a part two at Suguru’s house… maybe
