Chapter Text
It was a usual night where it was calm and quiet, the highway that blended the forest and the town stood silent with the lamp posts up the streets, lighting the path as the stars above twinkled still. The dark night carried on the echoes of the creatures lurking around at night, but a new sound also echoed through. Footsteps running full speed.
She panted as she tried desperately to reach sanctuary, trying to get away, from whatever is pursuing her.
She tripped and fell to the pavement, but shook it off quickly and got back on her two feet. If she could spot it a mile or so away…
There! It’s right there!
The theme park she’d known would be there!
The gates were still opened, unusually and had no struggle to get through. She didn’t have the need to close it behind her. What good would it do anyway for whatever she was facing?
She continued moving on down the park streets. She didn’t know where to go, only her mind told her to keep moving ahead. Don’t stop now. Maybe she could try to get in some of these attractions. She spotted a haunted house attraction not too far from here now.
Okay, good. She can hide there.
She climbed over the baffle gates guarding it just as she heard the crackling. She didn’t dare to turn back and continued to reach the house.
She knew damn well what would happen if she stopped.
She made it to the porch and tried to open the door, but to her unfortunate luck, it was locked from the inside. She turned to see the thing she was terrified of as she fumbled the doorknob. All around her, the stars started dying out, the earth fell through like aged, worn out wooden floorboards, the sky fracturing into oblivion.
Just as she gave up and facing the terror beyond the void, door opened. She rushed inside and shut the door tightly.
She backed away from the door, looking around for some safe spot to ride out the collapse of reality. The room was big and wide, quite spacious really. She thought the place would be more glamorous, if not for the state of abandonment it was in. She can still hear the world falling apart outside this building. She thought of hiding to the ol’ desk on her right.
Hide and wait it out.
But how long was the question.
She then heard a ding from the other side of the room.
She slowly turned to see a golden elevator behind her. She thought it would be a better place to hide, so without hesitation, she ran over and stepped inside. Right as the glistening doors closed.
Right as the last of her world collapsed as well.
She just sat against the wall, paralyzed.
What now?
Her question was answered as she suddenly felt the elevator began drop down at full speed.
What she could do now, was scream.
Aggie woke up in sweat and shock.
She breathed heavily as she took in her surroundings.
She was in bed, she was back in her room, back at home, back in a reality where it didn’t collapse.
Knowing she had that same nightmare again, she slumped to her pillows, giving a sigh of relief. However, she couldn’t shake off the feeling of uncertainty and dread about that dream. What does it mean? Surely it must be something? Right?
Well, it’s summer now, and she’s almost 20.
And still living at her dad’s.
She’s got that new job there. Maybe she can learn from inside.
Maybe.
