Chapter Text

"STEVE!"

Said teen jumped, heading jerking up to look at the girl who yelled his name, finding his best friend barreling towards him with an excited smile on her face. And were those...tears?

"Chrissy?" He murmured in confusion, standing up from where he was setting up their shared lunch of his grandmother's lasagna and a pound cake recipe he was trying out (he had heard HIS favorite thing is his Memaw's pound cake and while he couldn't make that, he could try making it right? His inner omega demanded it). It was his turn to cook between them.

"I found them!" The cheerleader said, nearly tackling as she hugged him. Her Animals no better, her squirrel's tail twitching a storm around his with restless energy causing his to try to groom her calm and her raccoon making chattering noises as he climbed out of Chrissy's bag. "I found our raccoon and squirrel!"

"You...found them?" He asked slowly, blinking slowly and lacing their fingers when she grabbed his hands. Once the words hit, he squeezed them and gave a punched out gasp. "You found them...You found them!" He said, nearly screaming the second time as he grabbed her by the hips and spun her around making her squeal, both not caring the scene their making in the cafeteria.

Ever since they met in middle school and realized they shared soulmates, Chrissy and Steve have been inseparable. At first because of their matching soul-animals but then they realize how much they had in common. Big empty house, absent but emotionally abusive parents. They turned into family for each other, Nancy (Steve's ex girlfriend turn good friend when she and Jonathan matched) called them jock twins.

They've been searching for their soulmates, the people their matching squirrels and raccoons represented. The older boy who matched their clever and sweet raccoon (Steve's Yasha and Chrissy's Buddy), and the younger girl who matched their hyper and chatty squirrel (Steve's Sandy and Chrissy's Lil Bit). They were handfuls and drove them up the wall with their sass and mischief but they loved them already.

"Who?" Steve asked, eyes bright as he nearly vibrated in excitement. Chrissy giggled, smile wide as she turned his head towards Hellfire Club's table where a certain metalhead alpha and his band geek beta best friend were chatting excitedly. Steve's breath caught as hope gathered in his chest.

Despite looking for their soulmates and trying not date (especially after the disaster of Steve and Nancy's relationship and Jason Carver's attempt alpha voice Chrissy into a courtship), the two omegas couldn't help falling for the two best friends. Chrissy when she was paired with Robin during an English assignment, the beta's rambling and awkwardness charming Chrissy. Steve when Eddie took his pups under his wing on their first day, when Eddie acted serious when Steve came to him and made him swear to take care of his pups. Telling Steve "Cross my heart, Sweetheart, our pups will be safe." while taking his hand, squeezing it and pressing a kiss to his knuckles. Steve thought about that kiss and Eddie calling the party their pups all night.

With more and more interactions, the omegas fell more and more, harder and harder. They tried not to because of their soulmates and being burned before. But now....

Steve let out a soft whine as his omega started purring happily about their soulmate being the sweet alpha. "Is it...them? How did you?.." He asked, eyes locked on Eddie and the soft looking golden retriever he had as soul-animal.

"I was trying to rush to get to PE, which you know I share with Eddie cuz it's Senior and junior mix class. I tripped on the stairs and before I fell, Eddie caught me. While he was teasing me about tripping going up the stairs his sugar glider brushed my shoulder. It wasn't enough to be First Touch but I felt it!" Chrissy babbled, bouncing on her feet. "He's our raccoon!"

"He's our raccoon...it makes so much sense! He's so clever and sneaky, good with his hands because have you seen him playing his guitar at the school talent show? He sang that Johnny Cash song?" Steve said, so happy with butterflies swarming in his stomach and hope bright in his heart.

"Robin also makes sense being our squirrel..." Chrissy started only to stop, her eyes widening as she looked towards their soulmates table. "Oh gosh, Steve!" She gasped, pointing cause Steve to turn catch Yasha darting towards Eddie.

"OH fuck! Yasha, no!" Steve said, scrambling to get to his eager and slippery soul-animal before the raccoon could touch Eddie. "Yasha get back here, you little shit." He yelled, gaining on him. They were getting closer and closer...

The raccoon just chattered as Steve got close enough to scoop him up but it was too later. Yasha climbed onto the table before jumping into Eddie's lap, chattering happily now he was close to the person he was the representation of. "Yasha no..." Steve whined, dropping to his knees right next to the alpha as the sensations of First Touch overwhelmed his senses.

Eddie gasped at the raccoon that just hopped into his lap, barely getting a chance to look at it when a wave of Warmth Home Safety Omega Mine came over him as only the amazing scent of orange and vanilla filled his nose. It reminded him of back home, visiting his Memaw and Poppa, eating all of her delicious cooking. He heard a thud next to him and looked towards it, meeting familiar and gorgeous hazel eyes belonging to a flustered Steve Harrington. "Steve..." He breathed, indtinctively reaching down to cup the omega's cheek. He let out a pleased rumble from his chest when the omega nuzzled into the touch. "It's you...of course it's you." He laughed in disbelief. He pushed his chair back from the table enough to pull the omega into his lap.

Steve quickly settled sideways in Eddie's lap, curled into him and pressing his face into his neck where the scent of cinnamon, leather, and a bonfire was strongest. "Eddie..." He purred, his omega showing more as not only was Yasha sharing Eddie's lap with him but he felt a furry head gently nudge his hand. He looked to see Eddie golden retriever looking at him, soft golden head laying in Steve's lap as he patiently waited for the omega to touch his head, his tail wagging gently. Steve gently placed his hand on the dog's head and petted golden fur, shuddering with a happy omega chirp when the circle of First Touch was complete.

"Fuck, yer perfect, sweetheart." Eddie breathed, pressing his face into the omega's soft hair to breathe him in. "I didn't dare hope...wanted it for sure but didn't dare hope it was you. Ever since you made me promise to take care of our little brats, so fierce and protective and fuckin' gorgeous, baby boy." The alpha whispered into Steve's ear, grinning at the noise the nicknames caused (making a mental note to call this precious boy all the sweet things he deserves). He focused on the raccoon who was currently pressing his face into the side of his sweet Sunshine's, who was going between nuzzling Steve's hand and gently licking the raccoon (Yasha, he brain supplied, Steve called him Yasha.) causing the critter to chatter happily.

"A raccoon, huh?" He mused, petting Yasha's back and shivering, a small one than before now that the bond is settling and the Warmth of it and Steve's feelings through it calming to a pleasant feeling in Eddie's check.

"It makes perfect sense, you're so smart and good with your hands. You're misunderstood and judged by your looks or supposed reputation. Raccoons are viewed as pests and rabies infested but they're actually smart and clean animals. They literally wash their food!" Steve said, smiling at Eddie then down at Yasha. "Yasha is good at unlocking things and actually likes tinkering. I give him those treat puzzle games for cats and dogs, and he loves it!" He said, cupping his raccoon's face and cooing at him. "Isn't that right, my smart sweet boy." He murmured, kissing the top of Yasha's head.

Eddie made a soft growl, taking Steve's face by the chin and turning the omega to face him. "Now sweetheart...you're makin' me jealous ofva a damn 'coon, don't matter itsa 'part of me." He said lowly, that accent coloring his words more that made Steve flustered and whine softly. "Shh, didn't mean to upset you. Just want my own kiss from my sweet omega. So...can I?" He asked, gently brushing a guitar calloused thumb over a soft pink bottom lip.

"Please!" Steve gasped, turning to straddle Eddie only to be stopped by the metalhead himself. "Not here." Was all the older man said before using a surprising amount of strength to scoop the omega up. "Come on Sunny, Loretta." He said, watching his sugar glider climb onto the dog along with Yasha. He didn't want to share their first kiss with them. He grabbed both of their messenger bags and nodded at Chrissy Cunningham who was edging towards their table with a hopeful expression, a raccoon of her own held like a teddy in her arms and a squirrel on her shoulder. "Later, sugar, promise. You know what happens with the romantic First Touch." He said, smiling at her and feeling Warmth at the sweet smile he got in return. "Sit with Robs and keep her company, yea?"

"You take care of him, Munson, or I'll dust off my daddy's shotgun." The cheerleader said, a steel in her voice that promised pain for hurting her pack, even if they were platonic soulmates. She slowly sat with Robin, a shy smile taking over her face as she looked at the nervous girl.

"If I do, I'll load it for you, baby girl." He said before whisking Steve away to his van with Sunshine trotting beside him, tail going a mile a minute, with a squirrel, a raccoon, and sugar glider nuzzled in his fur. In no time he was pushing open the van's back door and gently placing Steve on the mattress he kept in the back. "There...much better." He hummed, climbing in as well and pulling Steve into his lap in the straddle the omega originally went for. "Now...Where were we?"
