Steve's mind is so clouded that he doesn’t even notice the shadowy figure in his path. It’s the scent of rainy pine with an accent of silky smoke assaulting his senses that finally gets him to take note. The alpha’s presence makes his inner omega keen with need while Steve immediately freezes. Looking up from the forest floor, he takes in the mysterious figure.
"Well, well, well… Steve Harrington. Do my eyes deceive me?" The alpha gives a deep chuckle that vibrates the air around them, "What brings you here? Don't cha know these woods are dangerous?" A wicked smile curves on the alpha's face. Brown eyes unforgiving as they trace slowly up and down Steve's body.

Summary
They didn’t know what or who it was that had killed Chrissy, didn’t know what was happening yet, and had no plans but all Steve had wanted in that moment was to soothe the alpha, calm him down.
For a short while afterward, it seemed like everything might turn out fine, puzzle pieces falling into place but of course, everything went to shit just as quickly.
Somehow they made it out mostly unscathed only for Eddie and him to be stuck in a government facility that masks itself as a hospital, keeping them trapped there for their own safety.-
Prolonged contact with the Upside Down has consequences, intensifying their usual instincts, leaving them in an almost feral state of mind. A surprise heat is the last thing Steve needs in those times. In the end, the scientists decide it is safer for him to stay contained in case the consumed bat blood would bring unforeseen changes with it, there is no way this could go wrong, right?
