bloody noses and skinned knees

Summary:

Once again, Al gets into a fight. This time, though, Barry isn’t mad at him.

Notes:

Prompt: any, any, bloody noses and skinned knees

My first time writing about my autistic Alan headcanon.

Work Text:

Once again, Al gets himself into trouble the moment Barry leaves him alone—Barry only leaves for a few minutes to find them a ball to play with, and he returns to the familiar sight of Al squaring up to several boys all at once, apparently unafraid despite being outnumbered, yelling at them. And before Barry can intervene, Al throws a punch and blood pours from a boy’s nose; thankfully, he reaches Al before his friend can get beaten up, although they both slip and skin their knees in their haste to get away.

Sure enough, Al ends up in the principal’s office and his mom gets called, but he doesn’t get detention like Barry expected—turns out that those boys had been bullying Al for days, saying the most vile stuff about Al’s autism, and Al insisted on dealing with it himself, leading to this whole mess… so Barry makes sure to hook an arm around Al’s shoulders and tells his friend to goddamn talk to him next time this happens, because Barry will not let Al suffer through this alone.
