Work Text:
Hello good people of AO3.
In case you missed the summary, this is basically a quick braindump of my ideas for a PJO/Hermitcraft crossover that largely originated on my tumblr a few weeks ago. I'm thinking of using this to write some stories into a Camp Halfblood that is basically season 10 of hermitcraft, starting with two new demigods arriving at camp for the summer (skizz and Joel), but I'm having trouble getting my brain flowing with it. So, I figured while I work on that I get my ideas out into the open in the hopes that inspiration strikes :P
I've only listed Hermits I have strong ideas for, but I would absolutely love if people could give me suggestions for others or if you'd like to add any suggestions to who I've already written.
BdoubleO100 - Child of Poseidon
Ok, so this is the idea. Bdubs is a son of Poseidon, but he can't control water like percy in the books. Instead, he can talk to horses. This is a canon to the PJO series (see this tumblr post about it). I mean, for a while Bdubs has branded himself on being the horse-guy of the server. I think there could be a pretty cool thing going on where people assume he's this incredible fighter because a child of the big three, but he's a softie that hangs out with the Demeter kids in the stables and is a giant goofball. Still fleshing out ideas honestly but yeah just wanted to throw that out there.
DocM77 - Child of Hephaestus, Athena or Nemesis
So, I originally was going to put Hephaestus for Doc because this man breaks the game all the time like a mad man. But I'm leaning more into that being smart, calculating, side and thinking that he could be an Athena. I threw the Nemesis curveball in here as well because the goddess of revenge and balance has massive goatfather energy. I mean the whole Buttercups vs. perimeter war showed us he will do a lot in the name of vengeance. Or that's just an Athena moment.
False - Child of Athena
I am so confident in this one. First MCC competitor to get back-to-back wins, four-time champion, and first female player to have 3 and 4 wins. She's a beast on the field, but also look at her season 9 base. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!! Architecture who?!?!? Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
GeminiTay - Child of Ares
Gem's fighting skills clearly lend themselves to Ares or Athena. I also am playing with maybe making her a hunter of Artemis, she's got the girlboss energy the huntresses exude. I've gone with child of Ares for now largely because I have too many children of Athena, but I'm open to suggestions here.
Grian - Child of Hermes
Hermes is regarded as the "divine trickster" in greek mythology. If nothing else, Grian is one for pranks and shenanigans. Hermes is also known for wit and cunning, which I feel also are apt descriptors. Not to mention speed --> bird boy? I'd that one's more of a stretch tbh. But the rest remain.
ImpulseSV - Child of Hephaestus
Besides the obvious conclusion of redstoners being children of Hephaestus because of inventions, Impulse has the whole forge aesthetic for his season 9 base that felt like it worked with Hephaestus.
Joehills - Child of Apollo
If you've never tuned into Joe Hills, you're missing out. With his singing and poetry, he felt right at home in the apollo cabin. I feel like I need no further justification. I will admit I dabbled with the idea of making him the Oracle just because he's cryptic sometimes, but I decided Child of Apollo just works really well and it's hard for me to ignore that.
MumboJumbo - Child of Athena
Mumbo is a redstoner which makes me think Hephaestus automatically. I think his brains mixed with his aptiude for shenanigans and clear building skills make for a pretty good child of Athena. Again, suggestions are greatly appreciated.
PearlescentMoon - Child of Demeter
I decided on Demeter largely because I love how Pearl builds landscapes like her season 9 base oh my gods. I'm also thinking about making Pearl a hunter of Artemis, she's got those kind of vibes to her. I'm open to other ideas, though, because I'm still new to watching Pearl.
Rendog - Child of Dionysus
My justification is largely because Dionysus is the god of the theater. When I think of dramatic hermits my mind goes to Ren during the Ren the King arc. He even described himself as a theater kid in his recent hermitcraft episode in regards to the whole minister or ministries bit. Man just exudes theater kid energy and I gobble it up every time! And then being a child of the God of Wine/Alcohol kinda fit, too. Don't have an explanation for that other than vibes.
Scar - Child of Aphrodite
First thing I considered with Scar is how he's got this incredible charisma and he's so smart and an idior simultaneously, and that led me down the Aphrodite path. He can use charmspeak, which is how he gets away with his crazy capitalism scams and shenanigans. All the hermits commenting on his abs and his new shorts? Aphrodite energy. Scar won second place in MCYTblr sexyman contest, just would like to also throw that out there.
Skizz - Child of Aphrodite
Skizz has this natural leader quality and immediate intelligence about him that made my gut think Athena. Like I said earlier, I'm trying hard not to default to Athena for this crew because they're all smart people. That lead me down the Aphrodite route. He immediately charms and he has the fanon angel wings that remind me of another child of Venus/Aphrodite: Cupid. A sibling dynamic with him and Scar would also be so much fun. So that's why I've decided to lean into Aphrodite.
SmallishBeans - Child of Hermes
Okay, so the original idea here was a child of Zeus since Empires S2 he had the whole Zeus thing happening. But, in Empires S2 he had a son Hermes and I thought it would be ironic to have Joel now be the son. Also, Joel and Grian sibling dynamic. But personality-wise, the wit and shenaningans has very big Hermes energy. I'm open to other suggestions for him, though, because I'm new to Joel's content.
Stress - Child of Demeter or Khione
I'm basing Demeter largely on Stress' season 7 base and that her skin still has flowers in her hair from it. She just exudes caring for nature vibes and it felt right. I also threw Khione in there because I started watching Stress in season 6 and she had this whole arc of being the Ice Queen. I vividly remember the theme song she made for the Hot Potato (I looked back and it's s6 e58 that she uses it and e57 that she gets potato'd, if anyone hasn't seen it/wants to relive s6 with me)and it's always in my brain when I think of Stress. Khione is goddess of snow, so perfect for the ice queen! I'm so torn between these two ideas.
Tango - Child of Hephaestus
I'm thinking Hephaestus because of the fire aesthetic and craftsmen/inventors. And for season 10 he's got this steampunk style that's leaning into that Hephaestus territory. Plus, this gives a pre-written Tango & Impulse sibling dynamic and I love their duo so much so I feel like this works for me.
Xisuma - Satyr
My main reasoning for satyr is that satyrs are protectors of demigods, and I feel like X embodies that role a lot for the hermits as the admin of the server. He would be like the exhausted older brother figure to a lot of these guys, and I feel like that would work well! I was tempted to put him in a cabin, though, for consistency's sake, but I had trouble thinking of a godly parent for him.
ZombieCleo - Child of Hades
Won't lie, the Hades shout is largely because of the "zombie" in her name. She's also sarcastic and witty like my beloved Nico DiAngelo. I had considered her armor stand art maybe putting her Apollo for patron of the arts, which would also give her a siblingship with Joe. And I love the Cleo & Joe interactions. A lot of fanart also makes Cleo look medusa-esque with snakes in her hair, but I'm not sure how I could work that into being a demigod. But I settled on Hades for now because Cleo & Joe can still be besties this way and there's some potential for lore to come of this.
