Work Text:
The good little lab rat
“You will be helping Nala Se with her research. I understand you have the experience. From before. That you know her work?”
Emerie Karr was checking her data pad somewhat nervously, not that she wasn’t totally familiar with Omega’s file already. Having read it from cover to cover, memorised every minute detail ever since having gotten to this position. Helping Doctor Hemlock with the cloning research and Omega being their person of interest for the project.
But Emerie also felt a tad off while being around Omega, her own sister. Her own kin. It was new even if there were several clones in the facility. But Omega, well, she was different. Just like Emerie had always felt to be.
Omega could only nod, glancing around the lab she was supposed to work in. It was as odd as she was still a prisoner after all, but this sure beat sitting in her cell all by her lonesome doing nothing. Besides if there was a way to escape this horrid place, this was it. The lab a means to her plan for sure!
Only Omega knew she could not do it alone and she had not seen Crosshair since arriving to this forsaken place. And for whatever reason it was, despite her gut feeling telling her otherwise, Omega did not trust Emerie. As ever since Emerie’s statement of being a clone like her, Omega’s sister no less, Omega had suspected there was more to Doctor Karr than simply being a clone.
Alas, Omega put her faith in Nala Se. Knowing the Kaminoan scientist quite well and how to get to get good side Omega was going to be playing along to get what she needed. A win win of sorts, as not only did Omega have kind of freedom in moving around, she could also get to resources she needed for her escape plan.
“Yes, Doctor Karr. I am familiar with the work and happy to help Nala Se.”
Emerie smiled for once, only too glad there was no animosity between the two of them nor Nala Se. Then again, the Kaminoan was also a prisoner, that much Omega had deduced as well. Having commented on it too to Emerie. But Emerie trusted the two would cooperate. After all, it was in their own interest to do so.
“It’s Emerie, Omega.”
“Emerie.”
Omega forced a smile out, it wasn’t as dishonest as that. But Omega really hoped Emerie would not interfere when the time came for her to make her move.
Omega did like Doctor Karr on some level, as she seemed somewhat friendly. Still, Emerie was working for the imps and well, if Omega was honest to herself, despite the claim of being a clone and all, Omega did not quite trust the one calling herself Omega’s ‘sister’. Emerie.
With the pleasantries over Omega was left to her own devices. Her debating whether she dared to have a little look-see before the Kaminoan scientists arrived and they would start working together again. Then again, she needed to start sooner than later so why not now. And so, she quickly assessed her surroundings, figuring out the layout of the land and the security measures to find the perfect spot to access the computers.

“Omega. It is good to see you again.”
Nala Se had arrived. And surprisingly enough, the Kaminoan was actually showing some emotion seeing Omega after all this time.
“And you, Nala Se.”
Omega was only to glad she had anticipated the time of arrival of the scientist and not getting caught hacking into the lab’s systems putting into good use what Echo and Tech had taught her. Covering her tracks quickly enough, hoping to continue her own researched when left unsupervised. Hopefully that would happen again.
As it was, a lot of Omega’s plan seemed to be based on hope and timing. Oh well!
There really wasn’t much talking between them when the familiar duo started working together after all this time having passed since Omega had been Nala Se’s assistant back on Kamino. The same comfortable silence ensued as the two were working together now as it had during the good old days. The time on Kamino which Omega had enjoyed to some extent at least, until the war had ended and things had changed drastically.
Still Omega had to remind herself she was on her own mission.
First off, she needed to figure out how to get to Crosshair. Having found some indication in the files she had already managed to find before the arrival of the scientist. In addition in finding Crosshair’s whereabouts and the fact he was alive, something of a worry for sure, Omega had managed to check into the files of some of the other prisoners as well. The clones being held in the base for experimentation.
Certainly, the imperials really should not have left this crafty child all alone by herself near their precious computer system!
Now, all she needed was to get to the rest of the data, download it all, figure out the means of escaping then get Crosshair, the two being finally able to get the hell out of Dodge. Easy as pie, right!
Omega though, being the clever girl she totally was, knew how to wrap Nala Se around her little finger. And so, if she needed to spend some more time in working with the scientist to get what she needed then all the better! Omega would learn plenty by asking well placed questions like in the past. Possibly even get the Kaminoan to help her in some way and then, well, if there was time, possibly save the scientist too? Having already figured out Nala Se wasn’t working for the Empire out of the goodness of her chilly little hearts rather being held against her will like Omega was… there was hope there for sure!

Some time later, Omega was way ahead with her plan.
Just like any other day, she offered to stay behind and do the clean up after their working day ended. Nothing unusual there as she had done it plenty of times already. Just like on Kamino. The clean up having been part of her duties back then as well. Omega having learnt early on how to use her time to herself efficiently, by gathering intel she could put to use at a later point. And this, was no different.
It was time to move along with her plan, her duties as the lab rat soon to be over.
Omega quickly completed her duties, then making sure there were no eyes on her, human or otherwise, no cameras in the blindspot she had managed to figure out early on. Omega quickly logged into the system once again, familiar with the ins and outs of the various files and their encryptions.
Having learnt from the best, Echo and Tech, Omega knew well how to cover her tracks and so far not having gotten caught in her efforts was proof of that. Only this time, she had a data-rod she had gotten her hands on. She downloaded the intel she knew Rex and the others could use for the Clone Rebellion.
What Omega had found while tracking the wayward sniper’s location in the base, had surprised even her. But, the more she read into the files, the clearer it became to her she needed backup. The other clones help. Getting out with Crosshair first of all was easy enough. At least in Omega’s mind. And with the intel she brought with her, they could come back with full force. The clones to save their own and those few allies.
Omega completed her task with ease and then tiptoed out of the lab without the imps being the wiser.
It was time to put her escape plan into action.
