Work Text:
Nicky looked-up from his book when the doorbell rang. Putting his book aside, he went to see who was at the door. When he saw that his husband was holding a dozen red roses and a box of chocolates he smiled warmly and said as he backed-up so Joe could enter, "My husband, straight out of an Austin novel."
"Is that a bad thing?" Joe asked as he closed the door behind him.
"Never," Nicky said. "It's a wonderful thing to always know you're loved. Give me the flowers. I'll find a vase."
Joe handed over the roses and lay the box of chocolates on the entryway table. "Should I run us a bath?" Joe asked.
"That would be lovely," Nicky said. "There is nothing like soaking in a hot tub laying in your arms."
Joe stole a quick, soft kiss from Nicky before disappearing into the back of their flat thinking how he never wanted to stop feeling like this.
Nicky frowned when he heard the doorbell ring again after he'd just put the roses in the antique vase. Going to open the door again and came face to face with Andy. "Hi," he said.
"I'm interrupting," Andy said.
"Come in," Nicky said, letting his boss in.
"I brought marzipan." Andy said.
"Joe brought me chocolates," Nicky said.
"You, have terrible timing," Joe said, greeting Andy as he came to check on Nicky.
"She brought marzipan," Nicky said.
"That's supposed to make-up for interrupting our bath?" Joe asked.
"You are a hopeless romantic," Andy said.
"He's an incurable romantic," Nicky said, "and it's lovely."
