“Guillermo, wait!” Nandor called out, running after his familiar-no, his bodyguard. “You cannot leave!”
“It's my day off, Nandor.” Guillermo replied, shooting a glare at the camera crew peeking out of a nearby room. He slid his jacket on as he slipped out. “You not knowing how to work PornHub is not an emergency.”
“But those ladies are waiting for me in my area!” Nandor pleaded, catching his arm in his grip. “How ever shall I find them now with the computer consumed by a Blue demon!”
Guillermo turned and looked at him, an expression somewhere between horror and a glare, and floundered at what to yell at his beloved fool. His rage was flaring up at him, his face losing its lively color and baring his teeth ever so.
“You… corrupted my laptop?!” Guillermo settled on, relishing the unhidden flinch Nandor had only for a moment before wrenching his arm free from the reckless moron. Without another word, he stormed through the door, leaving it open in his wake- though you could hear him slam his car door and rev the engine in the driveway.
“Argh!” Nandor yelled into the house before following after him. “I wish you’d just listen and obey me!”
Guillermo peeled out of the driveway, a curse through his lips as he clipped the front yard hedges, and was gone into the night. Nandor turned on his heel after watching his dear bodyguard abandon him, huffing as he slammed the door to the house behind him. Set to destroy the wretched computer box to release the demon hiding his way to those desiring maidens behind the blue screen.
A couple hours later, Guillermo was back at the house once more. Luckily, this week he didn’t taint his blood with alcohol and holy water. It was easier for Nandor if he didn’t smell like such a poisonous treat. Not that he’d ever do that to his poor familiar-turned-bodyguard. His little warrior. Even if said warrior had foregone the warrior bond they shared to go have his ‘day off’ when there were maidens to be claimed.
Guillermo may not have any interest in helping those tempting ladies with their needs, but he could at least aid a fellow warrior in Nandor’s task to rescue and seduce them. Not cool.
Regardless, the demon had been defeated and Colin Robinson had even helped him purchase a new laptop to replace Guillermo’s corrupted one. Sure, it took most of the night, but Colin Robinson is an honorable fellow who was willing to ask many, many questions to ensure they received the highest quality of computer.
He wondered how many tiny warriors were hidden inside the fold-able device, and how many doors they needed to knock down to have the need for so many rams. But, it was not a matter that he had to worry about. They were well equipped, and Colin Robinson even had coupons to purchase the device with.
Nandor awaited Guillermo’s return once they got home, standing at the ready by the front door with the new laptop held in his arms. He kept himself busy by imagining how grateful his little warrior would be at how kind Nandor was, and they could see if those maidens were still awaiting both Nandor’s rescuing, and Nandor’s penis.
“Nandor, what are you doing?” Guillermo asked from behind him as Nandor jumped with an ‘aiyee’ in his gasp. The old vampire whipped around, one arm wrapped around the laptop protectively while his other was raised towards Guillermo in shock.
“What is with you and the sneaking, and the spooking, Guillermo!” Nandor replied, willing his non-existent heartbeat to slow down. “I ought to command you not to keep doing that!”
Guillermo rolled his eyes and went to turn around just for Nandor to reach out and grab his shoulder. It was gentle, hesitant, and Guillermo turned just as carefully towards him. There were no camera crews around to catch them, no audience for Nandor to cloak himself in bravado for, or to help guide him.
Just him, standing awkwardly in front of Guillermo, with no words in his mind. Only nerves as he held the laptop out to Guillermo, a hopefully placating smile on his face as he did so.
Guillermo’s eyes widened and he gingerly took the laptop.
“I take it you destroyed my last one?” Guillermo asked, a smile rising up unbidden on his face. He was mad at Nandor, he tried and failed to remind himself.
“I couldn’t risk that blue screen going after you too.” Nandor replied, a quiet swell of pride rising in his chest. “As alluring as the sexy ladies on the computer are, they were too late to save. I could still protect you, though…”
He finished off in a whisper, looking towards his hands as they worried at each other and the dulling rings on his hands. It was silly. A client protecting their bodyguard, a warrior falling prey to his nerves.
And yet, Guillermo’s quiet snort put those worries to rest, and he dared to look up at his lovely Guillermo. His face was curled around a fond smile, though he tried turning away from Nandor’s bright eyes. He rolled his eyes, fighting a losing battle in staying upset at Nandor from earlier.
Nandor, for his part, had fallen into guilt not long after yelling after his familiar and retreating to his room to pout for a while. For some reason, he couldn’t shake the feeling of still being watched, somewhere in the shadows of his room. Maybe it was those shadows that pushed him to move.
“Well, thank you, Nandor…” Guillermo spoke, the color in his cheeks warming Nandor’s heart, even as he turned away. He said something else, Nandor is sure, but he was caught in a different distraction for a hair had fallen into his dear warrior’s face. Yet Guillermo had turned and had started stepping away before Nandor could reach and sweep the errant strand away.
“Oh, Guillermo-” Nandor called out. “Stay still for me.”
He stepped up to his familiar, softly pulling the curl off his brow to gaze down upon that soft smile he had been wearing. Only to catch the look of horror on Guillermo’s steadily paleing face.
“Guillermo, what’s wrong?” Nandor whispered, his hand pressing to the younger man’s neck, to where he could feel the other man’s pulse- it was racing under his complete stillness. His eyes were wide, and though his pulse raced he didn’t even breathe. And as Nandor’s hand stayed at his pulse, he could feel it start to slow.
“I thought I warned you against spooking!” Nandor called, feeling his own heart race in its phantom beatings. “I command you to go back to normal!”
Guillermo suddenly gasped, sagging down- Nandor pulled him into his arms, clinging the younger man close and listening to that heart beat slowly steady out. Listening to Guillermo breathe as he ran a hand through the other man’s hair.
“What the fuck…” Guillermo whispered through panting breaths as he pressed himself into Nandor. “Nandor, what the hell was that?!”
“Took you two long enough!” the djinn called out from behind the pair. Nandor whirled around with his fangs bared to the magical entity, curling tighter around Guillermo in the same motion. The djinn’s eyes widened at the motion and he leaned back for a moment before regaining his composure.
“What did you do to my Guillermo?!” Nandor yelled, and the lights around them flickered with it. Guillermo looked wide eyed between them, confused more than anything. It wasn’t the first time that some unnatural creature went after Guillermo, so the shock of it was fading. How Nandor was acting, however, was. He didn’t even react too strongly when Zombie Topher had tried drowning him
“What did I do?” the Djinn asked, more in mockery than in actual asking. “I didn’t cause that-'' he motioned to Guillermo, whose heaving breaths were still evening out.
“No, Nandor. You did”
Nandor growled, the only warning he gave before he was lunging after the djinn- who poofed away into smoke. Nandor was caught in his cloud of smoke left behind, Guillermo pressing himself against the wall of the hall, both searching for the djinn.
“What’s wrong, Nandor?” the djinn spoke again, now in the railings above them. Nandor chased after him, stumbling on a stair or two but still reaching him quickly to lunge once more. The djinn once more puffed into smoke, leaving Nandor to crash into a side table, destroying it into scraps of wood and broken glass from the vase once upon it. “Isn’t this what you wanted?”
The Djinn was downstairs once more looking up at him quite smugly. Nandor leaned against the banister and snarled at him, breathing heavily but posed ready to launch to the lower floor at any slight movement.
“Why would I want you to hurt my Guillermo?” Nandor snarled out, his teeth chilling in the air as they kept barred out.
“It's what you wished for, Master” the djinn replied, eyes alight with cruel mischief. He opened his mouth to speak with a tongue not his own. And though it was his own voice, the tone of Nandor’s voice made it sound foreign to his ears.
“ I wish you’d just listen and obey me..”
“That is what you said earlier,” the djinn continued in his own voice, dark smugness over taking him as Nandor’s resolve wilted. “Remember?”
“That wasn’t intended to be a wish!”
The djinn merely laughed at Nandor’s shaking cry, watching the powerful vampire try not to tremble. His laugh was cruel, and Nandor wanted nothing more than to look away in shame at his mistake. But he couldn’t. He had to keep the djinn’s eyes on him for a little longer.
“Are you sure, Master?” the djinn mocked- “You’ve been reckless with your wishes the entire time I’ve served you. Why would this one bother you?”
He crossed his arms as he smirked up at him.
“Aren’t you happy to have someone who does everything you say without questioning your choices? Someone you can warp to your wishes at your side always? Loyal only to you? Total obedience! ”
“I…” Nandor stuttered, looking at his hands before finding his resolve. “He wouldn’t be the Guillermo I knew if he wasn’t kicking up a fuss every now and then!”
“Isn’t he just a familiar-”
“It wouldn’t be fair to Guillermo!” Nandor yells, once more leaning out to lunge, teeth bared. “He’s more than any other familiar- than any bloody vampire even!”
“And what makes you so sure of that-”
The silver chain around his neck pulled him back, sizzling only slightly but the danger was more in who was wielding it.
“Have any vampires or mortals ever surprised you in an attack?” Guillermo purred, smug as ever as he swiftly encased the djinn within enchanted chains. “Or would’ve been able to acquire spirit wrangling tools without your ever watching eyes seeing?”
“You’re going after the wrong guy, Guillermo de la Cruz…” the djinn rasped, scalding his hand to pull it off his neck. “I’m not the one who commanded it to be…”
“Actually,” Guillermo spat out. “You must have. When you began to serve my Nandor, you said you’d grant any wish he asked of you…”
He pulled the djinn back to look into his eyes, alight with a hunter’s glee at having their prey right where they want ‘em. The djinn had worn it while ruining his prior masters and knew it well. But he far preferred being on the other side of it.
“He asked that wish from me”
“Unchain me…” the djinn commanded, raising his chin to Guillermo, who shook his head with a quirked brow and pursed lips. “How do you expect me to un-grant his wish if you wont allow me to click my pen?”
“He makes a good point, Guiller-”
“Shut up, Nandor” Guillermo hissed, not letting his eyes leave the Djinn’s. “An all powerful spirit bound to a lamp and you really need a pen to grant the wishes?”
“In this form, I concentrated my power into my pen. Sometimes, it takes the shape of a bell or a- hey!”
Guillermo slid his hand into the inner jacket pocket he always saw the djinn storing the pen, grasping it with ease and slipping it back out, much to the displeased wiggling of the djinn.
“You had it in the form of a piece of hay?” Nandor asked before gasping excitedly. “Were you a cowboy at one point?!”
The djinn glared up at Nandor for a moment just for Guillermo to make a noise of recognition. He turned back to the familiar, trying to catch his pen back with his teeth.
“Uh uh uh, sir…” Guillermo whispered as he pulled the pen back, the wicked look back in his eyes. The djinn could see the pen’s engraving reflecting in Guillermo’s glasses and could only glare back at him.
Without any preamble, Guillermo whispered something into the djinn’s ear and clicked the pen against the djinn’s forehead.
“Is it fixed?!” Nandor yelled from above the pair. “Guillermo, I command you to pee on that djinn!”
“Nandor, what the fuck?!” Guillermo asked, though a smile betrayed his angry shout and Nandor could only laugh in reply. Once the laughter was done, Nandor jumped into the air to take the form of a bat. He fluttered over the banister and landed in front of the djinn as a vampire once more.
“Now that we’ve done away with you trying to waste my final wish on something so very stupid,” Nandor declared, looking cockily down at the enchained djinn “I have decided what my last and final wish shall be!”
“Shouldn’t we discuss this first, Nandor?” Guillermo looked at Nandor, beseechingly. Nandor shook his head simply, much to Guillermo’s displeasure.
“If we were to discuss, the djinn could try and plot.” Nandor replied, an apologetic look and pat on the shoulder pairing with the statement. Guillermo nodded and watched.
“I wish that the djinn will leave this house and never bother either Guillermo or myself, or any of the other residents of this house with his magic or presence ever again!”
With that, he grabbed the pen from Guillermo’s hand and clicked it, watching for the magic man to dissipate into smoke. Only for him to remain between the pair of them.
“That sure was a mouthful”, the djinn spoke, taking on his unemotional tones, even as he writhed against the chains to try and grab the pen back. “Maybe you should simplify-”
“His skin needs to touch it for the wish to work” Guillermo spoke over the djinn. He kept one hand on the chained djinn, the other reaching out to Nandor’s hand. He encased it in his as best he could, pulling the hand back to click it against the djinn’s skin.
Just like that, the pen and djinn disappeared in a puff of smoke, leaving the enchanted chains to clatter to the floor. Both men coughed at the smoke cloud, swatting at it to aid its dissipation.
Nandor left first, hurrying off to his room and closing himself in. Before Guillermo could give chase, he could hear the sound of a morning bird chirp in the distance. He smiled and went about his chores, with a new appreciation for his and Nandor’s growing relationship.
Nandor didn’t usually have bad dreams, but for some reason, after having defeated the djinn that late night, his mind swirled in guilt and the image of Marwa haunted him. Eventually, Guillermo was told of it and a new jewelry piece was gifted to Nandor to wear at night.
Even though it reeked of witch's magic, he wore it gratefully. After all, it was a gift from Guillermo, finally. After he had made Guillermo such a nice glitter portrait for their future crypt together.
It must have brought balance to the world that such a loving gift was returned in affection that Nandor was able to rest easy once more, plotting an even more lavish gift to give his dear Guillermo to put him back in the lead of their game of affection.
