Kiss me once
'cause you kn ow I had a long night
The first time it happened was after their first night out at uni together. Nick drank too much, and Charlie took care of him on their way home.
"Are you okay, Nick?," asks Charlie, really worried about his best friend who can't walk straight anymore.
"'M fine, Charlie. Just had lo' of fun."
"I see. You're completely drunk."
"'M not."
"Nick, you can't even walk anymore."
"That not true, Charles! You're mean."
Charlie knows everything about his best friend except that he's as much in love with him as he is with Nick.
"You coming with me. Bed, I mean."
"Of course. I won't leave you alone now."
"Th-thanks," hiccups Nick.
And so they make their way to their apartment. Charlie brings Nick to his room and leaves to get changed into his pj's.
"Char, don' leave me 'lone."
"I won't, I promise. I'm just getting changed."
"'Kay."
A few minutes later, Charlie comes back to Nick's room.
"Char!," yells Nick and wraps his arms around him.
"Y'know, missed you so much." Nick's now cupping one of Charlie's cheeks with his hand. Charlie knew Nick's a touchy drunk but never like this.
"I missed you too," says Charlie, trying to hold back his laughter.
And then, Nick presses his lips against Charlie's. Just for a few seconds but long enough to make Charlie all flustered.
"I love you," says Nick as their lips part. Charlie frozes and doesn't say anything back because he doesn't know what. Should he say 'I love you' back or not?
So he waits until Nick falls asleep before he whispers, "I love you too, Nick. But in a romantic way."
