"I really don't understand why he would have feelings for you."
The Intruder clasped its hands behind its back, not caring about the blood splatters on its face. It slowly used the Medic's body to walk forward until it towered above the Heavy. He was gasping for air, desperately crawling towards the infirmary's door. The Bonesaw that the Intruder had stabbed him with was still stuck in his upper back.
The Intruder knew that on a battlefield, Heavy could have easily stopped its attack and unarmed it with his pure strength. But in the infirmary, Heavy would have never expected someone to slice him across his knee and stab him in the back. Especially not his beloved doctor.
The false Medic harshly stomped its leather boot on Heavy's head, who groaned in pain and ceased to keep moving. The Intruder looked down on the giant man's body, pondering. Why would a cruel, intelligent yet foolish human like Dr. Ludwig fall in love with the Heavy? Unlike the Intruder's previous hosts, the Medic had no issue with sharing his body with another life form. It had settled itself into the doctor's body while he was ripping apart the Intruder's former host for organs. Many hosts had been appalled, scared or in denial of the Intruder's existence. But the doctor had been fascinated and curious by the Intruder, even giving it the nickname "Second Opinion".
Yet the Medic was a fool for believing he was the only one in control. When Dr. Ludwig was awake, he looked like any other human, showing no signs of a strange parasite residing within his brain. But when he was asleep and unconscious, the Intruder was free to control the doctor's body however it pleased, which Ludwig hadn't realized yet. The downside was that the Medic's face would look altered when controlled by the Intruder, making it obvious to other people that something wasn't right.
Meanwhile Mikhail was slowly regaining his senses as he laid on the floor, gradually losing blood. His mind was filled with questions. Why had his doctor called him here and attacked him? Was he a Spy? But why would a Spy go specifically after him? In the middle of the night? And why does Medic's face look so... gray? Suddenly all those questions were silenced when Mikhail felt the boot that had stomped on him mere seconds ago move under his face. He tried to move away, but couldn't do anything. The boot was under his left cheek now, and it lifted his head up towards the Medic. Pain shot down Mikhail's neck.
The Intruder continued examining the Heavy. To the Intruder, the Russian was nothing more than a cold brute. A tool to be used and discarded when it was no longer needed. Why didn't Ludwig see it the same way? The Intruder was more than satisfied to have a host who wasn't actively trying to get rid of it. But if the doctor, who was usually sadistic and morbidly curious, started indulging in a romance? Telling his lover about the Intruder's existence? That could quickly change. And the Intruder couldn't have that.
Its plan had been to deactivate the Respawn machine and call Heavy to the infirmary, knowing that he wouldn't decline a request from the Medic. Afterwards, the Intruder had planned to kill Heavy while he was off guard, therefore eliminating a potential threat in its plan to completely take over Dr. Ludwig's body. But before that, the Intruder wanted to have some fun.
"I mean, really, you're not even that smart or useful for the team." The Intruder continued lifting up Heavy's face with its boot until he could look up at the Medic's split face. "And you aren't that attractive eith-..."
Before it could finish its sentence, the Intruder was taken aback by the Heavy's eyes. His icy blue eyes stared at the false Medic with tears forming in them, but they showed no sign of fear or anger. The Intruder wasn't sure if its connection with the doctor's brain had affected its own perception somehow, but the look in Heavy's eyes seemed... heartbroken. As if the pain in his body didn’t come from his physical wounds, but from his wounded feelings. That loving heart didn't appear pure or innocent to the Intruder, though. Who knew how much rage and hatred Heavy had kept within himself after years of hardships and sacrifices? How much destruction and carnage was he truly capable of? And how many people would Heavy be willing to slaughter for a loved one?
That's when the Intruder understood. Ludwig didn't love Heavy for his strength or intelligence or looks. He loved him for his protectiveness and kindness but also the dark potential that resided within the Russian. And how beautiful it would be to see that darkness prosper, all because of the doctor.
The Intruder dropped Heavy's head to the floor again, swiftly turning around to grab the Medigun. After quickly positioning it towards Heavy, it turned the switch while grabbing one of the Medic's syringes. As the Medigun's beam slowly healed Heavy's wounds, the Intruder tore the Bonesaw out of his back. Mikhail couldn’t help but whimper as the blade was carelessly ripped out of him, his face winced in pain. Then, the Intruder kneeled down to his neck, injecting him with a sedative.
The Intruder grabbed Heavy's jaw, once again forcing Heavy to look at the gray-faced Medic. The last thing Mikhail saw before losing consciousness was Medic's split face forming a wide grin.
"On second thought, I think you'd look wonderful covered in the blood of my enemies.”
