A Bolt of Inspiration

Summary:

Standing on a cliff is great for thinking... and for attracting a lot of electricity.

Work Text:

“Hey, Ash?”

“Yeah?” Ash the Archaludon, standing oblivious, replied. “What’s up?”

“Are you feeling, uh… any different?”

“Well, I miss my fingers. And my toes. And my everything. But no, not really. This is pretty fun all things considered.”

A bright flash engulfed Pikachu’s vision, though Ash remained unphased. Pikachu coughed awkwardly.

“You’re not, uh… feeling anything unusual?”

“I mean, I’ve got an itch I just can’t scratch on my back…”

Another flash, and Pikachu was done.

“Ash! You are being struck by lightning! How do you not feel anything!?”

Another bolt, and Ash only just realized just how specifically lightning rod shaped he happened to be. He looked straight up, watching another stray bolt hit him, and he shrugged.

“I dunno.” Another bolt struck him, and he again did not react at all. “Guess I just got used to it after living with you for so long.”

“And what’s that supposed to mean?”

“It means you can’t let me get a good night’s sleep in the morning.”

Pikachu huffed. “You sleep in until eleven in the morning! No one does that!”

Another bolt. “I do! Don’t diss it till you’ve tried it.”

“I have, and I know it messes your schedule up super badly, so how about-”

Misty and Brock watched the bickering pair from afar, and they sighed. Misty nudged Brock, eyeing him with some minor concern, but Brock shook his head.

“Don’t worry. They’ll figure it out… eventually.”
