Work Text:
Brock, Misty, and several local passersby all sat in front of a very cross Officer Jenny. The woman glared at them, her eyes nothing but accusatory. Many turned away from her out of shame, some regarded her in confusion, and Misty did her best to restrain Brock’s usual tendencies in such a crucial moment.
“I’ve received a report that a building from around here was seen being… stolen.” She flashed a paper, rotating it around the room so quickly that no one could make out what it said. “Per the Johtonian-Kalosian Building Ratification Accords of 1869, removing a building from its place is an offense punishable by-”
The distant sound of a toilet flush interrupted the Jenny, and the room went silent. Pikachu struggled to suppress a snicker as his trainer, Ash, sauntered out of the bathroom, entirely oblivious to what he had missed in the interim. Ash paused, seeing that all eyes were on him, and he nervously waved one of his claws. The Jenny, slightly terrified, began to rapidly sift through her evidence.
“No, this can’t be… that isn’t…”
Pikachu leapt onto the arm between Ash’s body and claw, the soft pitter pattering of his feet on metal audible to those near him. Ash looked down at his companion, confused.
“Were they talking about me?”
Pikachu shrugged. “To an extent.”
Misty, apparently tired of the whole affair, walked up to the Officer wearily.
“Officer… you wouldn’t happen to have a photo of this “building,” would you?”
The Jenny paused as she landed on a paper, and she looked between it and Ash, an incredulous look on her face. She glanced at the rest of the room, a single cough prefacing her words.
“Okay, well…” She began to back away slowly. “I’m going back to the precinct, and we’ll all pretend that this never happened. Cool? Bye.”
The Jenny bolted from the building, leaving an irritated group of people in her wake. Ash scratched his head, and he opened his mouth to speak, but Misty shut him up before he could say anything. He looked to Pikachu, who was barely holding in laughter.
“She was right on one thing, buddy. You are as dense as a building.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
Pikachu lightly hit his side, causing a hollow reverberation of metal to ring into the air. Ash paused, looking between himself and Pikachu, before coming to a realization.
“Hey!”
Ash attempted to bicker with the snickering mouse, who had fallen to the floor in his laughter. Both Misty and Brock sighed as Brock pulled out a map.
“So, where do you guys want to eat?”
