Work Text:
Ravona Satone expected to have a relaxing friday night.
What she hadn't expected was to recieve a call from her ex boyfriend, Tye Loe Madon, in which he drunkenly sobbed to her while music from around him ruined her eardrums.
So now, she was driving in her car, staring down at her small baby bump as she sighed, taking the terrible directions Tye Loe had attempted to give her and following them. Although she didn't really need the directions, she knew which pub he had gone to escape and get wasted in.
So she drove, parking her tiny light blue car on the side of the road as she escaped into the pub, letting the smell of dirty floors and the sound of loud blaring music attack her senses as she slid her way towards the bar, being quick to spot the medium length brown haired of the man who had called her.
The man turned suddenly, a large grin emerging as soon as he saw Ravona. She knew straight away from a second of him turning that she had found Tye Loe.
"Princess!" He yelled towards her, his arms swinging over her shoulders to pull her into an embrace. Slowly, he pulled away, a dopey grin on his face. "Are you here to hide as well? Don't worry, I'll protect you!" Tye Loe also fell over his own feet as he grinned up at her.
Ravona sighed.
"Alright, I think it's time we get you home, yeah?" She told him, lifting one of his arms over her shoulder to carry, her feet walking towards the exit as she could hear the sound of Tye Loe's feet dragging against the wooden floor. She had no idea what had gotten him in such a state but it didn't really matter, she just needed to get him back home to his roommate Mazen and then try to relax for the night.
Her little car sat silently as she opened one of the doors, gently pushing Tye Loe into one of the seats as he slumped over onto her backseats, staring into the driver's seat with no thoughts behind his eyes. Ravona pushed his legs in, closing the door as she returned to the driver's seat, slamming the door after her as she looked back at the miserable drunk man.
The car was quiet.
Too quiet.
Ravona pulled out her flip phone.
"Tye Loe, I'm going to call Mazen to tell him you're coming home, all right?" Tye Loe didn't answer, he just nodded as Ravona sighed, dialling Mazen's number quickly into her phone and letting it ring.
After two shrill rings, the man on the other end answered.
"Ravona? Have you seen Tye Loe?" Ravona sighed, she could hear a slight sound of worry in Mazen's voice.
"Yeah, found him at a local pub. He's a bit drunk but I'm bringing him home now." There was a sigh of relief from the phone.
"Thanks, Ravona, there's a bottle of wine with your name on it for your help." Ravona winced to herself, trying to not groan out loud.
"It's no trouble, we'll be there soon." Ravona quickly exchanged goodbyes with Mazen as she closed her flip phone, sighing as she started her car, turning the keys slowly and placing her seat belt on across her body. She thought about helping Tye Loe with his seat belt, but he seemed to drunk to even notice where he even was.
She sighed, she really needs to tell them she's pregnant, but maybe not yet. She wouldn't want it to be awkward.
Her car started up as she drove away from the pub, looking at Tye Loe in her rearview window.
"So, do you want to talk about what's happening? Any reason why you went to a pub on a random friday?" Tye Loe moved up from laying down, holding onto the leather of the seats next to him as he groaned. His shaky hands reached into his pocket, pulling out a small dark blue velvet box.
"I asked Mazen to marry me." If Ravona wasn't quick with her reflexes, she swear she would of hit a tree with the simple statement her ex-turned-best-friend had given her. She didn't stop the car, however, deciding to keep driving to just get him home quickly.
"And you ran away after that, why?" In the corner of her eye, she could see Tye Loe shrug.
"I didn't want to hear his answer. What is he said no? I would never be able to stare into his beautiful grey eyes again and ponder my thoughts while I twirled his hair." Ravona couldn't believe what she was hearing.
She didn't even know Mazen was into men, with Tye Loe she had suspicions, but Mazen? That had shocked her. She thought they were just roommates, she had known that were close, Tye Loe knew Mazen long before they ever met, but the fact they were dating had taken her by surprise.
Ravona kept her hands steady on the wheel.
"So, you and Mazen, when did that happen then?" She questioned, staring out at the road and the dark skies of England.
"A month after Mazen's 20th. I just, realised I couldn't live without him, you know? I was so afraid of losing him that I knew that is was now or never. So, I decided now, and he felt the same."
A month after Mazen's 20th birthday.
Mazen, who is 23 years old, nearly 24...
They had been together for almost four years and they had never told her?!?!
Oh how she wanted to stop the car and punch him for being so stupid.
But she didn't, instead deciding to keep driving around. It wouldn't be long until they would be at his and Mazen's home. In fact, Ravona believes she can see Mazen waving at her from the street. She sighed, moving the car to go park.
"He's going to say yes." Tye Loe looked at her confused. "I know Mazen and I know you, and I know he is going to say yes." Tye Loe smiled.
"You think so?" Ravona nodded.
"Yes, now c'mon. Let's get you to bed." Ravona got out of her car, opening the door for Tye Loe.
Tye Loe almost fell down onto the pavement before he was caught by Mazen, falling into his arms with a small chuckle escaping his lips.
Ravona wondered how she never noticed before the way they look at one another.
Mazen looked from Tye Loe over to Ravona, he smiled at her.
"Thank you." He whispered to her. Ravona smiled proudly.
"Of course, and oh, Mazen?" Ravona's smile transformed from being proud to being smug. "I expect to be the first person to get an invite to the wedding." Mazen looked flustered, giving an awkward smile before nodding, taking Tye Loe and walking back into their shared home.
Ravona sighed, leaning on the side of her car, as she opened the door and sat back down onto the driver's seat.
She stared at the tiny baby bump, gently touching it as she drove off.
Well, at least she can go home now.
