Ralsei stood eagerly beside the dark fountain, waiting for their descent. He hated to admit how lonely he got when they would leave. But wow, they were all that was on his mind.
The fountain softly glowed a faint, white light. He watched as Susie and Kris descended, landing in a dramatic pose.
“Ralsei, ya’ missed us?” Susie laughed, flaunting some bright red box.
Ralsei blushed in embarrassment, trying to brush off the question “Welcome back you two!” He smiled, gesturing for the two to follow him so they could sit and chat somewhere.
The three sat down in a cute little cafe, tucked into a corner. Susie dropped her box onto the table, a cute little red heart with a yellow bow, grinning.
“Yeah-betchya don’t have one of these!” She grinned.
Ralsei was actually curious, where are they chocolates? Who was buying susie chocolates? Why?
“Oh? What’s in that Susi-”
“OHOHO!” A laugh rang out, a little blue boy appearing from behind the counter.
Oh god, Lancer was here. He sprung across the counter, leaping towards Susie and completing a handshake with her. Ralsei chuckled, looking over to Kris, a mischievous smile on their face. They slowly lifted the lid from the box and attempted to grab a handful of it’s contents.
“Hey! Hands off!” Susie smacked Kris’s hand away from the box, revealing its contents of chocolates and… chalk, alongside a little ‘happy Valentines day' card.
“Awe Susie, do you have a Valentines?” He asked
The girl threw her hands behind her head, “Nah- I jusht found thish on my deshk,” she managed through a mouthful of chalk.
Kris piped up “she’s going on a date with Noelle tomorrow, on the actual 14th.”
Susie's tail reflexively whipped around, whacking into Lancer with a thud, “KRIS! It’s not a date,” the purple girl blushed “they-their coming too so it’s like… three buds hanging out at a carnival?”
Ralsei giggled. It wasn’t unlike Susie to get all defensive about Noelle, but it was really quite cute. He’d never been with anyone before but they seemed like a healthy if not awkward couple. Not that he’d fare much better if someone suddenly took an interest in him.
“I wish you could come, Ralsei.” Kris spoke timidly “it would be nice to ride the ferris wheel with you.”
Ralsei felt his face flush bright pink, “Oh! Y-yeah that would be fun!” he stammered.
“Did kris just-?” but he just shook his head “don’t be stupid” he scolded himself “that's a normal thing to say! Wanting to go out with friends- that's what you do with them, right?”
“Uhh Ralsei- you good?” Susie raised an eyebrow.
He realised he’d been wordlessly staring at Kris for some unknown amount of time.
“Ohh yeah-yeah I’m fine! I just think that uh- it’s Lancers bedtime, he should probably go to sleep or he’ll be cranky.”
The blue boy whined as the Ralsei sprung off his seat and grabbed his hand “Unhand me much lesser dad!”
He continued to drag the spade out of the cafe, briefly turning around “Have fun tomorrow, please visit soon!”
The prince quietly shut the door to Lancers room, Rouxls Kaard finally inside taking over the job of trying to get the bouncy little guy to sleep. He had a fondness for him, honoured to have joined the dad hierarchy, even if he did fall at the bottom. But despite his pride, he slumped against the wall with a sigh. He’d acted so immaturely around Kris and Susie earlier, stunned by the idea of anyone wanting to spend time with him. But it was stupid of him to act this way, over what? A crush? Did he have a crush on Kris? Oh god- he probably did.His face had gone all red just at the thought of spending time with them, surely that meant a crush. But that was inappropriate, he was meant to be saving the world alongside the other two, not having a schoolgirl crush on one of his friends- well one of his two whole friends. And Kris had a whole life outside of the dark world, Ralsei was just a tiny percentage of it. He slugged over to his room,excited to enter peaceful dreams. He lay on his bed, flat on his face. He had a whole kingdom to run and a prophecy to fulfil, stressing over this felt silly. But deep down it was serious, he could mess up a lot if he ruined his relationship with the human. As he drifted into the realm of dreams he decided on a couple things. Yes; he did have a crush on Kris, but as long as he made sure it didn’t progress any further it would be fine, right?
