The Marvelously Ridiculous Maribat

Summary:

What if Marinette took her extreme smarts and tried to intern with both Wayne and Stark companies, and that just didn't go as planned?

Work Text:

Marinette’s life was completely and utterly ridiculous .

She was the magical superhero Ladybug of Paris, and her partner was Chat Noir, an equally magical superhero in the same city of Paris.

While taking college credit classes during her last year at Lycee, she applied for two internships, one at Stark Industries and one at Wayne Enterprises. She didn’t expect either to call her for rounds of interviews, let alone be accepted. Both places did both things. Neither would allow her to do two internships at once.

Unsure how to pick between the two, she let the hiring representatives who contacted her talk it out. It escalated to their Human Resource supervisors. And then escalated again, and again, until Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne were at a table together, on opposite sides, leering at each other like they would never give up now that they knew just what they were going to be missing out on.

Two other interns present, Cassandra Cain and Peter Parker, took it upon themselves to evacuate Marinette from the brewing storm between the brooding multi-billionaires.

But even they couldn’t be normal, because they excitedly asked her to show them around, and ended up dragging her to break into the highest deck of the Eiffel Tower to get the best view at the greatest height in the city.

Then when an Akuma attacked, they went over-protective mode and wouldn’t let her out of their sight as they monitored the situation and quietly muttered about when the big heroes of their respective cities would show up. That confused Marinette, considering Paris had its own dedicated heroes, but she had no time to tell them that when they began to mirror their bosses with some kind of fight about which mortal man with a suit was better at his job.

Then things escalated when the Tower became a casualty.

Peter, in a panic, revealed himself as Spider-Man by suiting up right in front of their eyes and taking them, and countless others lower on the Tower, to safety.

Cassandra, thinking that Perter’s identity was going to upstage Wayne Enterprises and make Marinette pick them, revealed herself as well, and suited up as Black Bat with a kit brought to her by a self-driving motorcycle she had summoned with a press of a button.

Marinette thought the whole thing was utterly ridiculous, and she admitted that Chloe’s catchphrase, when used properly, was useful and spot-on in this situation.

Deciding to just deal with all of that later, she, herself, suited up as Ladybug, and went to go catch herself a Butterfly.

She’s just glad that none of her friends or family were secretly Gods or Magical Constructs or something totally outrageous like that.

…Well, even if they were, at least it wasn’t something revealed that same day. It was ridiculous enough already, and it still wasn’t over.
