“Nan has come to visit, Lila. Come say hello.” Severus called out to his daughter.
An excited little girl, with a bow on one of her two pigtails, ran down the stairs. “Nan!” She opened her arms and Eileen picked her up.
“Hello, sweetheart. Have you missed me?”
“Uh-huh. I asked Dad if we could visit you, but he said you were sick and needed to rest. Are you feeling better?”
“I’m much better and Nan’s brought you a present.”
Lila hopped down and did her happy dance. “Really?”
“Really.” Eileen handed her a gift bag.
Lila tossed the tissue paper aside, looking into the bag before pulling out a box. “It’s a doll!”
Severus grimaced, Lila’s shriek of excitement hurting his ears.
“Thank you, Nan.” She hugged her and rushed to her room with her new toy.
Sirius came down the stairs, greeted Eileen, and offered to prepare tea.
