Chapter Text
Husk is stubborn. Alastor knows this. He's known this. However, it seems he's underestimated just how stubborn he can be.
After the ninety-second loop of the same day, Alastor starts to get annoyed. He locked Husk in a time loop with the hope that he would get sick of re-living the same day and confess his feelings to Angel therefore breaking out of said loop.
Apparently, the fear of rejection is stronger than the boredom of living the same day over and over again. It is entertaining, watching Husk slowly lose his mind. He's done everything under the sun during the loop.
He did kiss Angel one of the times, but Alastor doesn't consider that a confession, especially since Husk did it because he knows the day will reset. He even did it at 11:59, leaving no room for Angel to tell him how he feels.
At some point, out of frustration or curiosity Alastor isn't sure, Husk punches him across the face. Since he knows he won't die permanently, Alastor gave in to the curiosity of what it would feel like to kill the chimera.
Husk is resilient, happily re-living the same day to avoid confessing. And Alastor ends up breaking before Husk does.
"Mornin' Al." Husk says with his back turned towards the Radio Demon. To avoid suspicion, Alastor had taken to reliving the day with Husk, going through the same routine every time. So, Husk knows that at this time exactly, Alastor would sit at his bar and greet him.
"Hello, Husker." Alastor responds, resisting the urge to pull his hair out and yell at him. "How do you do it?"
Husk pauses, not expecting the change in script. "What?"
"How are you so patient that you are willing to live the same day ninety-two times? Why not just suck it up and tell him you love him? I know you know that's how you break out." Alastor asks, bordering between exasperation and genuine curiosity.
"Oh." Husk turns around to face him, his expression thoughtful. "It's kind of nice, knowing what's going to happen everyday."
Alastor stares at him for a full minute before giving in and snapping his fingers. "Consider yourself out of the loop." He sighs, resting his chin on the bar top. "Why must you make my afterlife difficult?"
"Not tryin' to." Husk shrugs.
"Then confess!" Alastor cries, lifting his head up again, his eyes a bit crazed. "Make everyone's afterlife better!"
"No."
"Why?!" Alastor groans, face in his hands.
"'Cause I don't need that heartbreak."
"What if there is no heartbreak? Wouldn't you rather take the risk with the possibility of living the rest of eternity with the man you love?!"
"Nope."
Alastor groans again, his smile tight.
"You out of spells yet?"
Alastor slowly lifts his head out of his hands to look at Husk, an idea occurring to him. "No, I am not."
"What now? An alternate universe?" Husk asks, polishing a wine glass.
"No, but that's not a bad idea either." Alastor concedes, standing up. "I will see you tomorrow Husk."
"Will it actually be tomorrow?" Husk calls after him as Alastor ascends the stairs.
"Guess you'll have to wait and see!" Alastor calls back.
He gets to his room and shuts the door behind him, beelining for his spell books. If the time loop didn't work, he'll have to try something else.
Why didn't the time loop work? Because Husk is scared of rejection. So, erase that fear somehow.
His eyes skim past truth serums and the alternate reality spells that he marks for later. Just as he's about to give up, he lands on something that makes his smile widen.
Perfect. The room fills with an unearthly green glow as Alastor rips the page out.
