You drive me crazy, but I love you

Summary:

Heros and Villains, are worlds apart...
Yet how can she taunt Jason and Roy, constantly sweet and caring, and not expect them to fall in love?
Sure, Jason murdered that predator and Roy doesn't want to leave Jason run off by himself. But Jason doesn't plan a return to Gotham, so fuck it, they're asking her.

Or..
Jason and Roy run from Bruce's justice in the cover of moonlight to Titan's tower, calling forth Starfire in an act of dumb, stupid, 'forbidden' love between the three of them. Even with a heavy fear of rejection, love blossoms.

Act 2, Scene 2; Romeo and Juliet

Notes:

Hey, this is relatively short and was written for my high school project... Don't bash too much on it, and I hope you enjoy it!

Written like a script. This is a weird, probably wildly weird take on Romeo and Juliet's famous balcony scene that's awfully short! Starring!!!!! Jason, Roy, and Kori! Will be posted as a one-shot, but if it blows up enough I might as well do the whole play amirite? Take pity on me. Thanks to my beta AlopexDragneel!

Work Text:

OUTSIDE OF TITAN’S TOWER; AT NIGHT

JASON TODD and ROY HARPER enter the scene, rushed and tired. They are holding hands, whispering something.

JASON: Hush! Hush, my wildfire! If we are to be too loud, they shall find us!

ROY: This is cruel and unjust! How rude!

If they knew, they would never imprison thee!

If they come and draw their naked swords, I shall unquiver my arrows and aim to kill!

JASON: You speak of nothing, cease at once!

You will never have to die or fight for me as long as you rest by my side.

Remember what we came to do, say goodbye and go.

ROY: The fair and precious Koriand’r, how it will hurt to leave her so. Yet, I agree this is for the better.

I will get ready now.

ROY HARPER takes a grappling arrow that has a rope tied to it out of the quiver on his back and draws the arrow onto his bow, aiming it towards a window on the tower.

JASON: Do you have the target?

ROY: Ay.

JASON: Let it loose.

ROY HARPER lets go of the arrow, making his shot as JASON TODD holds onto the long rope. The arrow lands with a CRASH and JASON TODD seems to be getting ready to pull

JASON: (Looking up at the window) There's Koriand'r, like a star in the night. I hope we shan't frighten her, I think I’d perish.

ROY: Yeah, she's stunning, like a flower in bloom. She's strong, you know, not easily frightened. But this life we lead, always running... will she even want it?

JASON: (Contemplating) Roy, love's a strange thing. We can't force her to choose our way. But when I think about us, all the fear just fades away.

ROY: O Jace, please! I beg of you, do not let her reject us! I will fall into mourning for eons upon eons! Do not let her be driven away by the ill will of your father!

JASON: We cannot compel her heart, dear Roy. Such is the bittersweet symphony of love. Yet, behold how swiftly sorrow is washed away by passion's tide.

Dost thou recall the tremor in my voice when I sought thy hand? Such is love's rite, immutable and profound.

ROY: Oh...

JASON: Yes, my dearest. Thou art to me as the vernal bloom, so fair. And Koriand'r, she's like winter's majesty, both fierce and beautiful.

ROY: Ah, stop, thou dost make me flush with such words! She is indeed a sight to behold.

JASON: My beloved spouse, my heart. And Koriand'r, our would-be winter queen, so regal in her grace.

ROY: Then let us steal a glimpse of this winter's beauty.

Pull the rope!

JASON: Aye!

KORIAND’RS ROOM IN TITAN’S TOWER

KORIAND’R lays moping on her made bed.

KORI: O Jason! O Roy! wherefore hast my beloved gone?

Vaded from my eye like the sun at dusk!

Wanted by the remorseless rear-mouse for disregarding the law! To be dragged into an antre, or worse, a madhouse!

Simply, for giving into thee bosom of vengeance?

My affections burn oh so! Brighter and fiercer than blue flames! Parceled towards the two, to never be opened.

How can I face Jason, having known I once fancied thy brother! How can I face Roy, knowing how he yearns for the giddiness of Jason?

Thy villainy and my status forbids my loves! I rebuke my crown if cause no harm!

O, X’Hal please I beg of you, take care of the two pieces of my heart. Be honest, gentle and kind to them, or you shall hurt me. Let them never see any struggle of the coils) that chase them!

CRASH!; The arrow lands, shattering the window. KORIAND’R gets up to investigate just as JASON TODD pulls the rope back, breaking open and freeing the window. KORIAND’R goes near and looks down seeing JASON TODD and ROY HARPER, shocked.

KORIAND'R: What brings you here under cover of night, Jason, Roy? I know of the chase, the law hounding your steps.

JASON: (earnestly) Kori, we came to bid you farewell, a goodbye perhaps forever. But there's more – we... I... we cherish you, more than the stars cherish the night sky.

ROY: (passionately) It's true. We're running, not just from the law, but towards a future we wish you were part of. We love you, Kori.

(Koriand'r pauses, visibly moved.)

KORIAND'R: Oh, Jason, Roy... I've harbored this secret in my heart – I love you both, more fiercer than the sun loves the day.

JASON: (softly) We understand if you can't join us. Heroes and villains, light and shadow – we're worlds apart.

ROY: (gently) It's a risk, a leap into the unknown. For you, a princess, a hero, to be with us, it’s asking for the stars.

KORIAND'R: But don’t you see? I yearn for those stars! To be with you is to embrace my truest self. I would forsake crown and cape to marry you both, to be part of our unconventional constellation.

(JASON and ROY are momentarily speechless, then their faces light up with joy.)

JASON: Then wed shall we three be.

ROY: O Jace! (looking at JASON)

(looking at KORIAND’R) My fire-lily, descend from thine tower now!

As the sun rises, I fear we will be exposed! Let us go now, exchange vows over the rising star, and live peacefully in the Carribean ‘til dispute dissipates.

(KORIAND’R leaves her window, presumably hurrying down)

JASON(mockingly): 'til dispute dissipates.

ROY: You will have to apologize to thy father one day, my life, if not for thy crimes but for abandoning family and eloping without blessing.

JASON: One day. Maybe in a fortnight, but not now.

I am far too deep in my love-muddled mind seeing the two of you here now to care. Let us go now, we have much to do; seeing that it is nearing our honeymoon.

JASON TODD chuckles, and KORIAND’R finally arrives. All three of them fall into an embrace, slightly starting to chuckle after JASON TODD chastely places kisses onto ROY HARPER and KORIAND'R 's faces and the scene ends.
