Chapter Text
In a desolate alley darkened by night, a young man was walking towards his small converted apartment with his, to say the least, eccentric colleagues.
Oh, Alastor was already looking forward to finding out what they had done on their day away, he certainly missed spending more time with them like before (not that he would ever admit it) but his absence was certainly noticeable.
Especially with how monotonous bar work was sometimes, It definitely didn't compare to what working at Val's bar with Angel used to be like. It was truly a delight to work in the same place as Angel. Oh, but well, he doesn’t regret getting out of there, and staying stuck in the past is meaningless!—
And here's Alastor back wandering in his thoughts, He should probably pay more attention to the empty and potentially dangerous alley he found himself in, but oh, what was a little danger to liven up every once in a while? He liked adrenaline!
And it's not like Alastor had much choice, it was the quickest way to their apartment. It seemed like a bad joke, but yes, the desolate alley with several abandoned houses was the best option.
Oh, remembering his companions, what could he cook today? Maybe some—
A giggle, similar to that of a little girl.
He immediately turned his head to see where the noise was coming from. Another noise arose again, coming from the house that was right next to him on the sidewalk, the curiosity was stronger than him and he tried to look inside what seemed like an abandoned house at first glance, the walls already had their worn and faded paint, a door that was barely standing on the verge of falling off and shattering, along with broken windows and even some without glass at all.
Definitely a picturesque home!
I tried to crane my neck and look inside the property, but all I could see was pure black. What would a little girl do in there? Especially, what would a little girl be doing in there laughing and apparently having a great time?
He should definitely leave, but even his rotten head wouldn't leave him alone if he left potentially a little girl in such a risky environment.
Vox would probably just call him stupid, but it's not like he'd ever listen anyway!
Cautiously, he opened the door, slowly entering the house. With each step the aged wood of the floor creaked, He slowly entered the house, when Alastor looked in front of him he found—
A little girl?
Oh well, this was more boring than he thought. Although he didn't really know what he expected—
Did the girl have a… small horn on the right side of her forehead?
Well, now this was more interesting!
Barely able to glimpse the little girl, Alastor slowly attempted to approach. "My dear, what are you doing here alone and on your own?"
Now that they were closer, I could tell that the little girl had golden curls, a small smile was on her face, I wasn't sure if she understood what I was saying.
Suddenly Alastor felt a gust of wind pass him and instantly heard a door slam.
Okay, maybe this was a little disturbing at best. I immediately turned around and went to try to open it, I tried to push it to open it again but to no avail
But suddenly
"Welcome, my insignificant, filthy sinner!"
A thunderous voice emerged from nowhere, and when the echo ended, it continued to leave traces of those words.
When Alastor turned around, he saw the little blonde being surrounded by a circle of fire, completely unbothered.
Her features were now clearer, It had a small button nose similar to that of an animal, a pair of hooves and goat ears—
She was definitely not human in case it wasn't clear to him!
Then, the voice emerged again "Oh, Did the cats eat your tongue? Ha! Humans, stupid as always, really, who made such a stupid saying— Wait, to the point!"
Alastor looked confused, the voice at this pace stopped sounding threatening.
A cough was heard, whoever it was clearing their voice. "Hm, listen, my little sinner. This little creature you see here is my precious and adored daughter, and as you and I know, you are on the highway to hell! So, I came to make you a proposition that benefits both of us."
Alastor raised an eyebrow, he didn't understand what the hell was going on, but at least the voice didn't seem to lie. They sounded too stupid to be able to do it convincingly.
"And how are you so sure about that? I don't recognize your voice from anywhere."
"Do you really think you're going to heaven?"
You could hear the sarcasm in their voice, although well, it really wasn't like he wasn't right. He simply shrugged, though he wasn't sure if they could see it.
"To the point, I can't take care of my little girl and make her happy in hell. She deserves to be free, and since the Garden of Eden is not an option, what better place than Earth! So, dear"
The irony was felt in that last word.
"If you take care of my little princess, and I will make your stay in hell a little more... Pleasant."
Now, this was something Alastor might be interested in. Alastor raised an eyebrow showing his curiosity, his trademark smile plastered across his teeth before speaking cautiously.
"In what sense will that benefit be granted to me, which I assume is the devil speaking to me?"
"Oh, you'll see the day you arrive, sadly, I can't tell you much. But then, do we have a deal, little fawn?"
Alastor's smile twisted a little at the nickname, well, really, what did he have to lose?
A figure hidden by shadows appeared in front of him, hiding the little girl. His arm reached out, offering him his hand for a shake. Alastor hesitated for a second, but he decided to send everything to hell and squeezed that strange hand tightly. The stranger's smile glowed for a second, red and green flames flooded the place, blinding him for a second with it
When Alastor opened his eyes again, he was alone on that property with the girl.
“…So, doll, would you be so kind as to tell me your name?”
"I'm Charlie!"
"Good to meet you, dear!"
As Alastor walked towards his shared apartment, now shared by three companies, his head did not stop scheming as he held the blonde girl.
What could he cook tonight?
Maybe some of Mama’s old Jambalaya recipe wouldn't hurt!
Alastor and Charlie were asleep on the couch after having dinner and watching some cartoons, although in Alastor's opinion they only rotted your brain. Vox opened the door to the apartment, he was exhausted and stressed after having hosted today's program, when he entered the apartment to have dinner and watch some TV, he saw them.
Alastor woke up with a; "Alastor what the fuck did you do now—"
Vox came home!
Alastor couldn't wait for Angel to meet the lovely Charlie too.
