Work Text:
Eijirou knew they were hinting at it, the “mind your fuckin’ business” from Katsuki and the wink from Mina were hints. He knew this, and his heart is hurting because he’s known for a while that he’s in love with the both of them. But he’s also really happy for them, even though Tetsu and Kami keep saying they can’t be together yet because they haven’t announced it to them or the world. He knows they’re together, knows they’re sexy as fuck together without even seeing them be nearly as intimate as in his dreams.
Yes, Tetsu, he knows that’s dumb to imagine they’re together especially when it’s torturous when he has feelings for them that he knows are unrequited.
Eijirou knew they’d gotten closer, knew they were holding hands at least three times that he saw them together, and he knows that he’s been in love with them since UA. Working beside them every day like he does now under Katsuki and Izuku’s agency has just been making shit harder for Eijirou to keep it under wraps and contained.
But now… Now, Eijirou’s heart is shattering on the floor in front of him as he watches Katsuki kiss Mina, watches her kiss him back, their hands gripping each other as Mina leans against Katsuki’s desk in his office at the agency. Before it was uncertainty and hints, but now it’s real. He can’t have these feelings anymore, he needs to shut them down, so when he takes off, he immediately searches out Izuku.
“Hey, bro, I gotta ask you something real quick.” says Eijirou tensely when he bumps into Izuku as he comes out of his own office just down the hall and around the corner from Katsuki’s.
“Sure, what’s up Eiji?” asks Izuku softly, kind as always as he looks at him with barely veiled worry in his eyes.
“I think I need some time, maybe a few days just to feel more like myself. Do you think I could have the next three days off with the vacation days I have leftover?” asks Eijiou quickly, nervous as his heart pounds in his chest because he knows that Izuku knows how he feels too.
“Yeah, I’ll let Kacchan know right away!” exclaims Izuku supportively, immediately nodding his head and pulling out his phone.
“Actually, Midobro, I- do you think you could just wait to tell Bakubro until before his patrol? I don’t really wanna deal with him coming after me about it. I- I kind of really need a breather, and it’d be easier to take if he didn’t know until he couldn’t do anything about it.” replies Eijirou with a harsh shake of his head and a pleading tone because he needs a head start to get out of Katsuki’s range before he blows up about him taking three days off.
Izuku tilts his head all cutely, like always, but he seems to settle on something when those green eyes light up with mischief, “Alright, but no promises that he won’t see it sooner. He does usually handle the schedule, Eiji. But I’ll make sure he knows to give you space if he asks me about it.”
Eijirou nods, thanks Izuku quietly, and then he’s tearing down the hallway for the elevators because he needs to get back to his apartment and lock everything down as soon as possible. He knows, without a doubt, that when he tells the squad he’s not coming, they’re going to be on his ass, so he’s gonna take the chance to run since he’s already done for the day.
Once he’s home, he’s instantly going to the front door and balcony doors to lock them, then he’s going to the four windows he has and locking them down too. As soon as the house is locked down, curtains covering all the glass, Eijirou pulls out his phone and starts typing in the squad group chat.
Eiji: I won’t be out tonight, sorry guys.
He looks at the other messages that he’d apparently gotten sometime in the last half hour and sees several from Mina and Katsuki in their trio chat and singularly. He curses to himself because he’d forgotten they were supposed to grab a bite to eat before going to the squad night get together at Hitoshi, Denki, and Tetsu’s place. But he doesn’t let himself respond because by responding to them, he’s giving them more chances to realize what his problem is.
Eijirou sighs when Hitoshi’s name flies across his screen because he’d promised Hitoshi a while ago that if he wasn’t in a good headspace, he’d pick up the phone. He made this with Hitoshi and Izuku because they know where his head goes sometimes, but only Hitoshi makes the calls because Izuku just warns Hitoshi when it looks bad.
“What’s wrong?” Hitoshi poses the question to him as soon as he picks up the call.
Eijirou snorts as he holds the phone against his ear, “Ha, don’t even get a chance to say anything, huh?”
“Nope, what’s wrong? You don’t miss squad nights, Eiji, and Izu texted and said you seemed down and asked for time off. What happened?”
“You and Izu drive me up a wall sometimes, you know that? Look, it’s nothing important. Just saw something, and now I need space to process so it doesn’t fuck with me even more.”
“You saw them, didn’t you? They’re together then, for real?”
“Yeah, I think so. And it’s okay. You know I’m happy for them,, I just have to get my head knocked into the right place so I can be happy for them in front of them.”
“Alright, I’ll come see you tomorrow then, Izu said he’s got you off for the next three days, and I’m off tomorrow too.”
“Don’t tell Denks and Tetsu, please.”
“No promises, they’re my partners, but I’ll try to keep them from saying anything if I do slip before the meet up.”
“Thanks, you can tell them after. I just don’t need Denks and Tetsu coming after me or accidentally slipping up. I need the space and the time, and that won’t happen if they say anything.”
“It’s not going to happen now. They said they’re coming to get you, so uh, maybe hide if you want time? Otherwise… get ready to communicate.”
“I’m not communicating right now when I haven’t even processed this shit.” Eijirou is hissing into his phone as he scrambles into his kitchen, thankful that it’s completely blocked off when he hears banging on his balcony door and his front door. “And they’re here. I’m fucking dead, Toshi, help me out here.”
“I texted Izu, but they’re only going to leave when they want to, you know that.”
”Ei, open this fucking door right now!” “Eijibabes, we just want to talk to you, come on! We know something’s wrong, just let us in!”
“Izu isn’t helping, he said that you should just talk to them, and unless I tell him what’s actually happening, he’s not going to think about rescinding that statement.”
“Don’t bother. I’m just going to hide here. They gotta go away at some point, right? Sorry, Toshi.”
“Don’t say sorry to me… they’re not coming to the get together anymore.”
“WHAT?!”
“They decided they’re not leaving yours until you talk to them, and Katsuki sounds extremely pissed in his message… but no curse words. Mina on the other hand.. she’s cursing like crazy in hers.”
“Great.” Eijirou groans as he pulls his phone from his ear and gets on the chat, and he messages, “Please leave me alone and give me space.”
“That’s not going to help.” Hitoshi sounds amused, and Eijirou rolls his eyes.
“Maybe it will.”
“Check the chat, it’s backfired.”
Denks messaged asking whether he needed him to come over. Tetsu asked if there was anything he needed. But Mina and Katsuki both responded with the same message, “NO CHANCE IN HELL.”
“Why won’t they leave me alone?!” The banging won’t stop, but the voices have.
“Because they care.”
“Well maybe they shouldn’t.”
“You don’t mean that, Eiji, you’re just worked up.”
“Maybe I do. It’d be a lot easier to get over them if they didn’t care, and maybe I wouldn’t be so bent out of shape over my best friends and their happiness if they didn’t care and I didn’t assume shit that I have no right to assume. Look, I’m- I’m getting off the phone. Bye Toshi.”
Eijirou hangs up as Toshi tries to say his name, and he slides his phone to the other side of the kitchen as the banging gets louder and louder. Tears stream down his face, he doesn’t even know he’s crying, as he slides to his side and curls up with his back against the cabinets. Eijirou curls his arms around his head as harshly as he can, and he tries to block out the pounding he can still hear.
His phone is buzzing against the other side of the kitchen, but Eijirou is doing his best to block it out too. He knows he could make this easier on all of them, letting them in, telling them how he feels, then letting them leave. He could do that, but then he’d lose two of his best friends. When he can’t block the pounding out, his head starts hurting, his eyes stinging from all the crying, and he decides to get it over with. He crawls across the kitchen floor to his phone, he picks it up to find a slightly cracked screen, and he ignores it in favor of pulling up his group-chat with Mina and Katsuki.
Eiji: I am in love with both of you. That’s why I was avoiding the get together, and it’s why I asked for three days off. I saw you two together at the office, and I realized that I needed to get over these feelings. So, give me time and space, and if you still want to be friends after this, I will do my best to be as happy as I know I am without the hurt. Please go away now.
Eijirou hears the silence from the banging, and he scrambles to run to his bedroom, to get away from them altogether. He’s going to get his break, he knows they’ll leave, but he also messages Toshi to tell Izuku what’s going on and help him, sending a screenshot of his text confession as proof. Then he shuts his phone off, ignoring the typing bubbles popping up in the groupchat with Katsuki and Mina as he powers his phone completely off and shoves it in his side table. He falls onto his bed, slips under his blankets, and curls up laying his pillow around his head to help drown out the pounding as he hears the thump of it starting again. He forces himself to sleep, forces himself to melt into the hurt and lets himself sleep because the only way to escape this is to sleep part of it off. It takes some time, the thumps still coming again and again, but he manages to slip into sleep soon enough.
When he wakes up, it’s to the smell of steak cooking and light music coming from the kitchen, and Eijirou startles immediately because nobody should’ve gotten into his apartment. Sure, did he give an extra key to Izuku and Toshi? Yes, absolutely he did, but he didn’t give one to Mina or Katsuki because of his stupid feelings. He closes his eyes tight and hopes to whatever god is listening that when he leaves his room, he’s going to see green and purple hair instead of blonde and pink.
“Kats, don’t go crazy with the steak or you’ll wake him up before we’re done!”
“You’re the one that’s gonna wake him up Pinky, now shush dammit!”
Eijirou groans into his pillow because of course nobody up there listened to him. He has the absolute worst fucking luck in the world. Although, he isn’t quite sure what they’re doing here when they shouldn’t have a key. He only gave two keys out, one to Hitoshi and one to Izuku.
The one to Izuku was required, obviously as his agency head it was needed for emergencies only.
The one to Hitoshi happened after he’d isolated himself so much that Hitoshi broke into his apartment and fucked up his door because Denki was panicking about Eijirou being gone and silent and not okay.
“I’m going to kill one of them, and I got a bad feeling it’s Izuku that I gotta kill which means I’ll friggin’ lose.” grumbles Eijirou as he squeezes his pillow around his head for a moment before pushing himself up.
Eijirou slips his way off his bed and pads his way over to his closet because he’s still in his sweats from yesterday, and he needs to change. He steps into his walk-in closet and slips off his sweats, slipping into a new pair of boxers before tugging on black basketball shorts that are a little tight, but he needs to wash more of his shorts. Then he pulls his sweatshirt and shirt up over his head and grabs a plain gray tee and heads out of his closet. He leaves his room, unfolding the shirt and slipping his arms in as he moves towards the kitchen.
“Alright, who gave you two a key and what’re you doin’ here so early?” asks Eijirou as he steps into the kitchen, pulling the tee over his head and stretching it across his shoulders before starting to tug it down to completely cover his torso.
“It was- uh- damn, Ei…” Mina turns and she’s smiling, but then Eijirou watches her eyes trail over his body in a way he really wasn’t expecting, especially after what he saw. “Uh, um, Kats- Kats, who gave us the key?”
“Denki stole it from Hitoshi, and then he and Izuku tried to find one of us to give both keys to us, so we got ‘em both…” Katsuki’s speaking with his back to him, until he turns around those red eyes follow Mina’s lead, running over his body and locking on his thighs before he groans loud. “Eijirou Kirishima, why are you wearing shorts so fucking tight they look like they’re cutting off circulation in your thick ass thighs? Jesus fucking- how am I supposed to be communicative when he’s dressed like that, beautiful?”
“Okay, this is getting really weird, and I am still very confused. So, let’s do things this way. It’s early as hell, and I am drained as fuck. Why are you two here when I specifically said, or at least tried to imply, that I wanted the two of you to leave?” asks Eijirou shortly as he crosses his arms over his chest, feeling uncomfortable with how hard his heart is pounding at the way they keep checking him out, the way Katsuki basically complimented him in his own way.
“He’s not- we’re not trying to make you uncomfortable or confuse you, Ei.” says Mina seriously, voice soft as she leans into Katsuki who wraps an arm around her waist.
“She’s right, Red, we’re not trying to do any of that. Look, you obviously shut your phone off, so you missed our messages and our response to your texted confession. That just meant that we had to come here and tell you ourselves instead of waiting for you to turn that damn phone back on. The thing that pulled us together, closer than we already were, was the simple fact that we both had feelings for you and didn’t think you were interested. Mina and I talked about it one night after your date with that copycat bastard, and we confessed how we felt about you to each other.” explains Katsuki quietly, eyes shifting between Eijirou and Mina as he talks, rambling slightly as he talks. Eijirou watches the way Mina’s hand falls to Katsuki’s, squeezing it as it holds her side, and Katsuki takes a steadying breath before continuing. For once, Katsuki looks scared shitless, and Eijirou doesn’t know how to handle it. “It took some time for us to realize that it wasn’t just you that we had these damn feelings for. What you saw yesterday was… It was us confirming that we’d be together even if you didn’t want both of us because we’d planned to talk to you tomorrow since we were going together before we went to our fuckin’ squad night.”
“You two have feelings for me? Right, okay. Look, I already said things won’t be weird. I’m happy for you two, I really am, but let’s not do this. Okay? And before you start, I know, Katsuki doesn’t say anything he doesn’t mean, he doesn’t let anyone make him do anything he doesn’t wanna do, I know that too. But I also know this, I know that I would’ve known if either of you felt the way I do because I have loved both of you since UA. I would’ve known because I know both of you better than I know anyone else.” replies Eijirou quietly, stiff as he looks between them because he can’t do this, he can’t handle this right now after yesterday when he’s feeling this way.
“Eiji, we know you’re drained, and your heart is aching because we were so stupid yesterday, but we- we’re not lying. We may not have realized it together until two years ago, but we both knew it back in UA too. I did everything possible to get over the feelings because I didn’t want to ruin the friendship we’d built, the bond our group had too, I didn’t want to ruin our friendship with feelings that I doubted were reciprocated because even then, you could have anybody.” explains Mina softly, stepping forward out of Katsuki’s hold to get closer to him. Her eyes are screaming genuine emotions, honesty radiating off her in waves that he wants to believe, wants to envelop in his own arms, but Eijirou won’t.
“Okay, say I believe the two of you-” Eijirou starts only to have Katsuki interrupt, “We aren’t fucking lying asshole!”
“Let me talk dammit.” Eijirou scowls at Katsuki before he steps forward, watching Katsuki step up to stand shoulder to shoulder with Mina, both of them looking at him curiously. “Say I believe the two of you, say we’ve all confessed and we all are in love with each other or what the heck ever. Say that’s all true. What would we do next? You two are clearly together, love each other obviously, so where do I fit into the equation?”
“You fit with us, you always have, Eijirou.” says Mina seriously as she reaches out her hand, hoping for him.
“Throuples are a thing, and we want to have you be part of this relationship. That means it’s us three together forever as far as I’m concerned. You fit with us always, and if that’s what you want, then you stand with us.” replies Katsuki wholeheartedly, his own hand reaching out as well, those red eyes filled with hope that Mina’s dark eyes match.
Eijirou looks between those hands and the two pairs of eyes staring him down with hope and want, and he doesn’t know what to do. He knows that they’re offering to give him everything he’s wanted for so long, and he doesn’t- he doesn’t know what to do because it feels surreal, like a lie built in front of him.
No, a dream because Mina and Katsuki won’t lie, and he knows they aren’t lying. He can see in their eyes that they mean what they say, those outstretched hands aren’t trembling, aren’t wavering, they’re holding strong as they wait for him.
“I don’t- I don’t know when it’s going to stop feeling like a dream, but I know you’re not lying.” murmurs Eijirou as he looks at them before taking their hands, letting them pull him forward until he stands between them. Their arms wrap around him, chest to his back and chest, and his voice drops to an almost silent whisper. “I know it’s selfish that I want this, want both of you, but I’m taking your hands like this anyways hoping this isn’t just a dream.”
“It’s not a dream, Ei, we’re here because we want you, love you, and the endgame is us three together always.” replies Mina softly, gentle as her hands come up and turn his face towards her where she’s pressing against his back. “Will you be our boyfriend?”
“I’d really, really love to be both of yours.” whispers Eijirou as he looks slightly down, looking at her as she holds his attention, hands cupping his face.
He’s not expecting much, he’s really not, maybe a hug, but this confession has truly been more than enough considering he never even expected to get that. But then Mina’s face gets closer, then her lips brush his, then she’s kissing him, and he’s melting into it. Her lips brushing softly, sweet strawberry lip gloss coating his lips as she presses closer, and he kisses her back, hands coming up to cup her head through her pink hair as he tastes the lip-gloss on her lips as she sighs into the soft kiss. It’s a gentle thing, and when she pulls away, he can’t open his eyes because he- they- he really kissed Mina Ashido. The same woman he’s loved since UA.
“My turn, Red.” Katsuki’s words hit him as hands turned his face, cupping his cheeks and pulling him forward just a bit.
Katsuki’s kiss is different, it’s not as strawberry sweet, but it’s still sweet. Smooth lips, not bitten despite the amount of times that Eijirou watched Katsuki worry the bottom lip he’s using to trap his top lip. Eijirou’s hands find themselves on a trim waist, fingers gripping sweatpants as fingers make their way into his hair, threading through red strands while his bottom lip gets sucked on. Eijirou is being kissed dirtily, molten in a way he should’ve expected. Lips caressing his neck has him pulling away with a gasp, and he’s stuck in between the two people he loves more than anything in the world, his two best friends, his boyfriend and girlfriend.
“Ours, Eijirou Kirishima. You’re finally ours.” says Mina firmly, her arms wrapping around his chest to hug him as she buries her face in his neck.
“You’re fucking ours, Red, and we’re not letting you hide again.” says Katsuki seriously, hands keeping Eijirou’s face forward so their eyes lock on each other’s to show just how much he means what he says. But then a timer goes off, and Eijirou can smell the steak that had his nose twitching not too long ago, so Katsuki scrunches his nose and steps back instead of kissing him again like it seemed he was going to do. “However, as much as I wanna kiss you until things get a little out of hand, I made your damn steak and some chocolate chip waffles because you’re a weirdo who likes steak more than chicken. I gotta finish this last steak, but then we can have breakfast together. Mina even set up the dining table all nice and romantic and shit, so you two go get settled, and then we’ll have breakfast and talk about what comes next for us three as a couple.”
“Thank you, Kats, for making food, you didn’t have to. I really appreciate that you did though.” says Eijirou softly as he leans forward and kisses Katsuki quickly on the lips before leaning back as Mina takes his hand and tugs. “We’ll be patient, promise!”
Eijirou lets himself be tugged out of the kitchen, grinning big as he goes into the living room/dining room space and sees a simple cinnamon candle sitting in the middle of his table that’s got a deep red cloth over it. The cloth is decorated with pink and orange rose petals with three chairs all equal distance away from each other around the round table, and the dishware is definitely not his own because he hadn’t bought good dishware since being forced to move three months ago after having his old apartment building completely decimated in a rough battle. Eijirou sits in his chair and finds himself with a lapful of Mina who’s grinning as she plays with his hair and teases him about the way he let Katsuki kiss him.
“I wanna have a hot, french kiss too, baby.” whines Mina as she slips her fingers up the back of his head and threads them into his hair.
“Awe, Mina, come on, you’re not playing fair right now. Kats is gonna get mad if we’re making out when he comes out here with food.” huffs Eijirou with a chuckle as he looks at her, watching the way her lips turn down in a pout, and he just can’t help it.
Eijirou brings a hand up, lightly holds her chin between his fingers, and he leans in. He pecks her lips once, tilts his head and pecks those soft lips twice, then he dips forward and pulls her bottom lip between his own to lightly nip at it, tugging it back when he pulls away. Mina tugs him forward into an open-mouthed kiss immediately afterwards, whining high in her throat when he licks into her mouth, their tongues meeting and twining together for a moment before a throat clears.
“See, now this is what I wanted to do, but I was making brunch. Can’t believe you two were making out without me in here, at least let me watch you two be sexy dammit.” grumbles Katsuki as they pull apart, breathing a little heavy as they turn to look at him while he sets the plates of steaming food in the middle of the table. “We’ll eat and talk, then we can decide how we’re spending Eijirou;s day off since Mina and I are off too.”
“I told you he’d be pouty.” chuckles Eijirou as Katsuki drops into the chair beside him, Mina laughing when Katsuki full on pouts at her as he realizes it was her idea. “Alright, let’s talk boundaries, expectations, and what comes next. Also, Kats, thank you for making this, it looks amazing.”
“Alright, boys, let’s talk it all out because by the time we’re done eating, I want movies and cuddles and lazy make-outs today.” says Mina happily as she settles into her chair while Katsuki starts putting food on their plates.
“Well, we know what we’re doing for the day then.” snorts Katsuki as he finally starts making his own plate.
Eijirou starts chuckling as Mina kicks Katsuki under the table, then he’s puffing his cheeks out and pouting when his leg somehow gets caught in between their kick war under the table until they lean over and press a kiss to his cheek before kissing each other. He’s grinning brightly at the kisses because he can watch them kiss and not have to wonder why they aren’t kissing him too because they do, they will, and that has his stomach fluttering with excitement at the reality that he gets to be with both of them.
It’s not long after that they discuss their relationship, discussing how they’re going to handle being a throuple, how they’re going to keep each other prioritized, and how they’re going to work on communicating to make things even better. They’re expectations are that any boundary that’s laid down is respected, any date nights that are planned keep everyone in mind, and nobody’s allowed to be left out. They will have one-on-one dates as well as dates all together, and for Eijirou’s first dates with them, Mina and Katsuki are planning them because he “deserves to be romanced until he’s crying with happiness no matter if it’s in bed or not dammit.” according to Katsuki.
The final thing they talk about before cleaning up their dishes and heading for the living room for movies, cuddles, and lazy make-outs is whether they’ll go public or not. After their first dates together, they are going to make their official announcements, but they are going to tell all of their friends in a few days at the class 1-A get together.
Eijirou went to bed yesterday with a broken heart and the feeling that he’d lost his best friends because they doubled as the loves of his life. Now he’s cuddled between them, Mina’s lips pressing against his own as Katsuki kisses at his neck, muttering about how hot they are together, and it’s everything.
