“Miya, do you wanna explain where we are,” asked Kiyoomi, shining his flash light at the front of the building. “Yeah, hey everyone we are outside the Himuro Mansion. We got permission for this episode of ‘Spirit Finders’. We got here literally 30 mins ago. We got dropped off along with our trusty cameras strapped to our chests. We’re gunna be spending the night here. I’m pretty confident that Omi will finally accept that ghosts are real,” said Atsumu while he was filming the outside of the building, ending with a shot of Kiyoomi clearly unimpressed. “What are yer thoughts Omi,” Atsumu continued. “It looks absolutely filthy,” sighed Kiyoomi walking up to the door. “No Omi, not so fast!,” said Atsumu. “What? Are you already scared,” asked Kiyoomi and Atsumu looked offended. “No! It’s just yer ruining the build up. I didn’t even mention the history yet,” said Atsumu.
“Miya we’ve been standing here for 30 min. It’s getting cold, let’s go inside. It’s just an old house. You’re fine,” said Kiyoomi, pulling the door open. Atsumu tried not to look scared as he followed Kiyoomi inside. The door slamming shut behind them causing Atsumu to yelp as he jumped. “It’s just some lousy hinges. You’re fine,” said Kiyoomi. The camera pointed around the room, while Kiyoomi shined his flashlight. The room was dark, run down. Cloth covering some pieces of furniture. Looking like a typical shrine entrance. It somehow felt colder than when they were outside.
“Some history for you guys, the mansion is said to have been built over the hell gates. So we could be dealing with demons,” said Atsumu. “Obviously what the owner who added the addition to the old shrine believed as well. These idiotic people would do horrible rituals inside this mansion,” said Kiyoomi moving to the next room. “Don't insult the ghosts Omi,” Atsumu said quickly. Kiyoomi rolled his eyes and walked a little further inside. Still unimpressed by everything.
“In 1837 a ritual failed and the Malice thingy happened, making everyone that survived to unalive themselves,” whispered Atsumu, finishing just as a vase fell over and Atsumu screamed.
“Miya calm down,” said Kiyoomi, sighing, the light on the now broken vase. “We’re gunna die,” gulped Atsumu. “Miya this place is unstable. Anything could have knocked it over. Wind goes through this place like a screen door,” said Kiyoomi unfazed. “We’re gunna die,” repeated Atsumu. His flashlight flickered and he ran to Kiyoomi. “Omi, it's happening!,” he said, terrified. “You bought a faulty flashlight. Come on, let's go to the next room,” Kiyoomi replied but he knew what was happening. The reason their channel got so many views. When Atsumu Miya gets scared shitless he, for some wild reason, abandons all fear and is replaced with anger.
“Fok off ya gastly bastards!!! Ya wanna fight!! Show yer selfs,” Atsumu yelled. “Miya,” sighed Kiyoomi. “Come on!! Do somethin’!! I’ll fok’n stab yer parents,” yelled Atsumu. “You can’t stab ghosts. They’re not corporeal,” said Kiyoomi dumbfounded. “Omi I would save you from any ghost,” snapped Atsumu. “What the fuck are we even talking about,” said Kiyoomi. “Next room,” said Atsumu quickly.
The next room looked similar to the first. Rundown, dusty as hell. “This place just radiates evil,” said Atsumu, looking around. “The only thing it radiates is a useless cleaning staff,” said Kiyoomi. Atsumu noticed the weird shadows outside the windows. “Omi were those there before,” whispered Atsumu, going pale. Kiyoomi looked and sighed. “Those are trees. Yes they were there before,” he replied. “I don’t think trees move like that,” said Atsumu, taking a few steps back. Kiyoomi without a second thought walked up to the window and tried to look through the dusty pane; only to open the window much to Atsumu’s horror. “Omi!!!!,” he yelled. “Relax. It’s just trees. And a really ugly wind chime,” said Kiyoomi, closing it again. “Since when are you big into home decor,” sassed Atsumu.
Kiyoomi ignores him, walking up to what looked like a broom closet and opened it without hesitation. Atsumu just stared at his ghost hunting partner in disbelief. The closest was empty. “This place and its story has been used in horror video games. Aside from the how it looks now, it is well designed. I’m sure in its prime the interior and shine were beautiful,” said Kiyoomi. “Ya can’t say horror game and beautiful in the same sentence,” sassed Atsumu. “Glad to see you stopped shaking,” Kiyoomi said shining his flashlight to the next room.
“From the blueprints I found on the internet that room should lead us into the servant quarters. If we go back the way we came and go left that should lead us into the main house,” Said Kiyoomi. “Well we’re here so we might as well go to the servant’s place. Does it have a way out of will we have to back track anyway,” asked Atsumu. “Ok, I take it you want me to go in first,” asked Kiyoomi. “Preferably,” said Atsumu and Kiyoomi nodded before walking up to the old door and again casually swung it open. It lead to a dark hallway. Kiyoomi’s flashlight reviling graffiti on the walls and the two doors leading down with a larger door at the very end of the hallway.
Kiyoomi shrugged before walking in and opened the first door. The boys both looked inside at the same time and Atsumu went pale. There was a torn futon on the floor, a dresser on its side and a doll nailed to the wall. “Interesting,” said Kiyoomi walking inside only to be pulled back. “Omi wait,” snapped Atsumu. “What is it?” Asked Kiyoomi. “Yer seriously going in with that doll over there,” whispered Atsumu pointing to the doll. “I’m sure someone just put it as a prank. You saw the graffiti. Clearly unsavory people have been here,” explained Kiyoomi. “What if it curses us,” said Atsumu. “I’m partners with you for this show. Trust me when I say, I already am,” said Kiyoomi. “Hey! Omi I mean it,” said Atsumu. Kiyoomi turned fully to face the blond. “This seems like a good room to do that stupid spirit box you love so much,” said Kiyoomi changing the subject. “Oh yeah! Let’s do that,” Atsumu said quickly happily retrieving the gadgets. Kiyoomi shook his head.
Both now standing in the middle of the room. Atsumu turned on the loud device. As the device quickly swapped radio stations. “Are there any spirits with us,” asked Atsumu. No response just static. “Can you tell us who ya are,” asked Atsumu. He was about to ask another question when they heard, “ett aoot.” Atsumu gasped, “it said get out.” Kiyoomi looked skeptical. “I heard ate loot,” he replied. “Omi please what makes more sense. A ghost say he’s chowing down on a musical instrument, or to get out of his haunting grounds,” said Atsumu. “I mean loot like- you know what it doesn’t matter. It’s just random sounds it doesn’t mean anything,” replied Kiyoomi. “Omi it’s clear as day what do ya mean!? Yer just disagreeing cuz you know I’m right,” huffed Atsumu. “Whatever. Fine it said get out. So are we leaving,” sighed Kiyoomi.
Atsumu was about to say something when they both heard a soft thud. Atsumu whipped his head around to the doll. It was on the floor, the nail still on the wall and Atsumu screamed. “Miya you’re fine. The weight of the doll was finally too much for the nail. It’s not ghosts,” said Kiyoomi quickly. “Omi I applaud you for being so blind to ghost activity. It’s laughable at this point,” said Atsumu taking a few steps towards the door. “The doll moved,” said Kiyoomi and Atsumu almost jumped into Kiyoomi’s arms.
“Predictable. Let’s go to the next room,” Kiyoomi said pushing the other off and left the room.
“Omi don’t leave me with that thing,” screeched Atsumu running after him. Only for Kiyoomi to already be walking into the next room. Kiyoomi froze in the doorway. “Omi?,” asked Atsumu before looking over the other’s shoulder. The room looked similar to the previous, except there was a FUCKING PIT! “I think for safety we shouldn’t go inside. The floor might be unstable,” replied Kiyoomi stepping back. “Oh so now who’s scared Omi,” sassed Atsumu walking inside. Atsumu looked into the pit. “Miya stop you’re going to fall,” snapped Kiyoomi. “It’s fine Omi. I’m careful,” said Atsumu yet by bad luck the floorboard under Atsumu’s foot snapped.
The next thing Atsumu realized that happened, was his body dangling over the pit. Kiyoomi grabbing his wrist. “God damn it Miya,” he yelled pulling him back. Their bodies colliding. Atsumu looked up to meet Kiyoomi’s eyes. “Be careful,” said Kiyoomi with such concern in his voice that Atsumu felt a blush creeping on his face. “Sorry,” he replied quietly stepping away from the other. Kiyoomi looked back at the pit and shaking his head. Both of them quickly left the room.
“I think the last room might be where the head servant stayed. Or it maybe their own kitchen or living area,” said Kiyoomi opening the door. It was similar to the other rooms. It was a little living room kitchen situation. A broken table and chairs. Kiyoomi walked in and headed straight for the kitchen area. “Honestly a little paint and some elbow grease. This place could be fixed up to look real nice,” said Atsumu shinning the light around. “Almost makes you forget about the horrific murders that took place,” said Kiyoomi.
“Oh this might be the perfect place to do communication with the GS Flashlight,” said Atsumu. “Ah yes the other faulty flashlight,” sighed Kiyoomi. “Shut it Omi. It’s science,” said Atsumu setting it up on the kitchen countertop. “Or a loose battery,” whispered Kiyoomi. “Ok ghost, if yer here turn on the flashlight,” said Atsumu yet nothing happened. “Maybe it’s a demon,” asked Kiyoomi and the light came on. “Holy shit,” yelled Atsumu taking a step back. “If ya wanna hurt us turn the light off,” said Atsumu and to his relief it didn’t. “What about wanting to kill us,” asked Kiyoomi and it turned off. “Omi!!! Stop giving it ideas,” yelled Atsumu. “Maybe it doesn’t appreciate you calling it an it,” shrugged Kiyoomi. “Oh fuck yer right. Ok demon if your female turn the light off. If yer male keep it on,” said Atsumu. The light flickered but stayed on. “Ah so yer a male,” said Atsumu. “Or nonbinary with a masculine preference,” said Kiyoomi. “What,” said Atsumu looking at him. “What,” asked Kiyoomi.
“Ok demon are you nonbinary, turn the light off,” asked Atsumu rolling his eyes and the light turned off. “Told ya,” said Kiyoomi. “Ok I’m done. Why don’t you talk to THEM Omi,” snapped Atsumu. “I’m not gunna talk to a flashlight,” frowned Kiyoomi. “I swear you only play along to make fun of me,” said Atsumu crossing his arms and Kiyoomi shrugged. “Ok non binary demon… weird that’s what I called Suna last week. Anyway are you alone. Turn it on if so,” asked Atsumu the light stayed off. “Miya not to question you're ‘brilliant’ method. But I think you need to be more specific. I don’t think you’ll get anywhere with these open ended questions,” said Kiyoomi. Atsumu blinked at him confused. “Da fuck ya mean Omi,” he asked. “Well your question asked if they were alone. What do you mean by that? Are they alone in the room. Because we’re also here. So technically they aren’t alone. If we don’t count they could have another demon/spirit/or ghost thing in another room. Would they still classify being alone? Do you mean alone like single because that then opens up a whole other world of possibilities,” Kiyoomi was explaining till Atsumu held up a hand and the other stopped. “Omi I love ya, but there’s a reason why people skip around in our video. You make this not scary anymore,” signed Atsumu.
Kiyoomi paused a little longer than he should have just staring at the other. “What?,” asked Atsumu. “So you love me hu?,” he asked and Atsumu looked confused till it hit him and he panicked! “No no Omi like as a friend! No please I wouldn’t- Omi look no I- I mean-,” Atsumu was interrupted the flashlight rolling off the counter, smacking the ground. Atsumu jumped grabbing onto Kiyoomi. “Not really helping you're case,” Kiyoomi said casually, shining the light on the floor flashlight. Atsumu quickly let go. “Whatever, let's keep exploring,” snapped Atsumu picking up the flashlight. “What about the demon,” asked Kiyoomi. “Fuck them,” yelled Atsumu walking away. “Great, now he’s mad,” Kiyoomi quietly signed following after the other.
They reached the main entrance again and even Kiyoomi could feel something was off. “Hey Miya did it get colder to you. Like a lot colder,” he asked pulling out his phone to check the weather. “Yeah, but I figured ya just say something like oh theirs no sun so no heat,” Atsumu said turning around to face him.
“Normally yes. However it says it’s 75 degrees outside. It feels fucking 30 degrees in this place,” said Kiyoomi putting his phone away. “Really 75? Yeah, that's weird. Omg you know what that means!?,” gasped Atsumu. “That weather apps are shit?” Said Kiyoomi. “No Omi obviously there’s spiritual activity,” said Atsumu. “Don’t tell me we’re being out the spirit box,” they said the last two words at the same time with wildly different levels of enthusiasm.
Atsumu got out the box and turned it on. The waves of static noise filled the room. “Hello is any entity in the room with us,” asked Atsumu, holding the box out. Static kept wailing out of the device. “Ok according to Omi I need to be specific. If there is a demon with us, say anything,” asked Atsumu. The box spit out, “oe mmme.” And Atsumu felt the color drain from his face as he slowly turned towards his partner. “What?,” asked Kiyoomi. “It said Omi,” Atsumu said cautiously. “No it didn’t,” said Kiyoomi. The box replied with, “key or mmmme.” Atsumu jumped back away from Kiyoomi. “Explain that!?,” yelled Atsumu turning off the box. “What! That the stupid thing said key umami,” said Kiyoomi. “I should’ve known all along. It was you,” asked Atsumu. Kiyoomi just stared at him like he lost his mind. “All this time. All the huntings we’ve been to. It was you. I was bringing the demon with me. It’s been you all along,” said Atsumu trying to keep the panic out of his voice as he backed away with each word. “Christ. Miya listen to yourself. It said nonsense,” signed Kiyoomi.
“Oh yeah prove it,” snapped Atsumu and Kiyoomi pinched the bridge of his nose feeling a migraine forming. “Ok I’m not even going to entertain this. Miya let’s keep searching the house. We still have most of the night to go. The sooner we get done the sooner I can leave,” said Kiyoomi. “Nice try demon! Stay back,” yelled Atsumu. Kiyoomi let out a deep sigh as he started questioning all the decisions that lead him up to that point. “It all makes sense. You’re stand offish, you don’t go to church, you listen to music I can’t understand, you can’t drink milk. God how did I not see it sooner,” said Atsumu talking to himself. Kiyoomi watched the man spiral. He was dumbfounded. There was no way Atsumu actually believed this. Was this all for views? They were pretty popular on the site already. “Ok Miya let’s go through those accusations one by one. First just because people find me intimidating is not my problem. They’re cowards. Secondly I’m not religious. Next it’s k-pop, which I didn’t think I’d ever admit on camera. And finally I’m lactose intolerant you goddamn idiot,” replied Kiyoomi.
Atsumu paused and thought about what Kiyoomi just said. They both stood there in relative silence. “You make a compelling argument,” said Atsumu. “Not an argument, I’m stating facts,” said Kiyoomi. “Ok but just in case I’m asking the box,” said Atsumu turning it back on. Kiyoomi just stood there shaking his head. The box’s static came flooding back into the room. “Hello, is Omi a demon,” asked Atsumu, gripping the box tightly. With baited breath the box said, “oh shd ai nce.” Atsumu looked at Kiyoomi confused. “That doesn’t mean anything,” said Atsumu. “None of this shit means anything,” snapped Kiyoomi at his wits end. The box then spat out other unintelligible babbles before Atsumu turned it off. “Ok I’m willing to trust you, for now,” Atsumu squinted his eyes at the other. “As long as we finish and get this footage to our editor I really don’t care. I would leave your ass here but we need to finish the video so let’s just get this over with,” explained Kiyoomi walking past him into the next room.
He entered what would appear to be the main part of the house. Still freezing as Atsumu followed behind him. The main house so far looked slightly cleaner than the rooms they already explored. Which honestly shouldn’t be much of a surprise. A small staircase leading up stairs was the only interesting feature. There were random things/ unknown mounds covered in sheets. Everything in a thick layer of dust. Aside from the stair case there was a door way a ways infront of them and a couple doors on the other side of the room. Assumption that they were most likely broom closets. “Despite the rundown nature, it’s a nicely designed room,” said Kiyoomi shining his light around. “Meh, I've seen better,” said Atsumu looking around. “Hm. Nice to see you got yourself back together. Should we keep going. There doesn’t seem to be anything worth talking about here,” replied Kiyoomi.
And as if the universe wanted to prove him wrong at that very moment they heard something that made their blood run cold. It sounded like heavy footsteps, coming from above them. Even Kiyoomi flinched a little. “Omi please do that thing where you tell me a reasonable explanation for what we just heard,” said Atsumu in a soft trembling voice. Kiyoomi maybe a little too quickly said, “it’s probably just the foundation settling. Or some big rats. This place is probably infested. It’s nothing that can’t be explained.” Atsumu gulped. “Omi Omi if ya are a demon, don’t let the other demons here kill me,” Atsumu mumbled as he got close to Kiyoomi not taking his eyes off the top of the staircase. “Look if we check… we’ll see that it’s nothing,” said Kiyoomi still staring at the ceiling. “Ok uh after you Omi,” said Atsumu with his feet frozen to the ground. Kiyoomi shook off the nerves. “Right. Um ok,” said Kiyoomi walking towards the stairs. His steps felt like concrete. Each step was intentional. Like he forgot how to walk without thinking about it. The creecking of each step made the hair on his neck stand up. “Why are you being scared? You’ve been in scarier places for this show. Get it together Kiyoomi. None of this shit is real. Ghost, demons, spirits, none of it is fucking real,” thought Kiyoomi trying to calm his heart rate down. He reached the top and looked around. Four doors to the left, alternating sides of the walls. Three doors to the right. “I guess let’s go to the room logically above us,” said Kiyoomi and he felt a hand grip his arm. He quickly looked to see Atsumu looking absolutely terrified.
Normally he would have shook him off but Kiyoomi just took a deep breath and marched on. Him being there was oddly comforting. Kiyoomi’s gloved hand touching the cool brass door knob. With a deep breath he quickly turned and stepped forward only to hit his shoulder on the door. Kiyoomi grunted, letting go. “Looks like it’s locked. Maybe we should-.” Kiyoomi was interrupted by the door slowly opening a little and Atsumu screamed, gripping Kiyoomi’s arm tightly as the color drained from Kiyoomi’s face. Without thinking he shielded Atsumu. They just stood there with the door ajar. Their hearts pounding, adrenaline running high… yet nothing happened. The door didn’t open further and there was no sound, other than the wind coming from outside.
Kiyoomi didn’t dare move. He wasn’t going to be caught shaking on camera. “Omi… I think I’ve had enough. Let’s go home,” whispered Atsumu. Kiyoomi looked at the other. He’s never seen Atsumu so scared. Sure he’s been scared before. But Atsumu wasn’t even getting angry. This was completely new territory. Kiyoomi swallowed hard and opened the door to Atsumu’s dismay. The door swung open revealing an almost empty room, the minimal covered bedroom furniture was pushed up against the walls. There was nothing to explain the footsteps. Kiyoomi let out the breath he didn’t know he was holding. A wave of relief hit him. “See it’s nothing,” said Kiyoomi, keeping his voice calm. “I guess you're right,” said Atsumu, letting go of the other. They noticed something odd. Each side of the room looked identical. Like there was two of each item.
From two small beds, barely covered by the tarps. They stepped in further to see a few pictures on the wall blinded by dust. A toy chest with small random toys on the floor. “Kids room?,” asked Atsumu getting it together. Going and exploring the room. Curiosity took over the creeping fear. “Looks like it,” said Kiyoomi checking out every corner of the room. Atsumu was drawn to the larger of pictures on the wall. “Hm?,” he hummed as he swiped his finger across the picture to reveal a stripe of the photograph underneath. It looked like it could be a portrait. So Atsumu took out the picture off the wall, causing something to float to the floor. Atsumu bent down and picked it up, before using his sleeve to clean off the picture. They were twin boys. Smiling and hugging each other. “Cute kids,” said Atsumu, hanging it back up before looking at his hand. It was a folded up newspaper page. “What are you doing now,” asked Kiyoomi, approaching him. “Oh this fell out from the back of this picture,” said Atsumu holding up the square. “Well what is it,” asked Kiyoomi and Atsumu shrugged as he opened it. Kiyoomi watched the blond read the print before watching in real time, as the color drained from his face. His hand trembled, holding the paper tightly. Eyes firmly glued to the page like he expected the contents to change.
“Miya what’s wrong,” Kiyoomi asked, but the other didn’t respond. Just stood there before he handed over the page only moving his arm. Kiyoomi took it and began to read it out loud. “December 13 1863. A horrific incident occurred. Details are still coming in. The Strangling Ritual (a ritual used to keep the Hell Gate closed, preventing the Malice and evil spirits from passing through the gate and bringing disaster). Had been performed inside the Himuro Mansion. The family’s young twin boys were used as sacrifices. Police reported finding the remains-,” Kiyoomi stopped reading and looked at Atsumu who was now just staring at the twin’s portrait on the wall. Kiyoomi was about to say something when the door to the room closed. They both snapped their heads in that direction. Moving quickly to the door, Atsumu tried to open it, but it was stuck.
“Open up ya son of a bitch,” yelled Atsumu pulling on the door relentlessly. “Miya stop you're going to break it,” snapped Kiyoomi. “Fucking hell!!,” yelled Atsumu, punching the door before he walked away. Kiyoomi tried opening it but it was indeed stuck. Atsumu walked around trying to find another way out, cursing under his breath as Kiyoomi fiddled with the door knob. He tried everything. Lifting the door slightly to checking to see if it locked when it closed. There wasn’t even a lock on the door. Kiyoomi was confused. “There’s not even a window in this damn place,” grumbled Atsumu. Pulling off a large tarp to reveal a dresser. “Hm?,” he hummed as he opened the drawers one by one. Nothing exciting, just random stray kids clothes. Till he opened the bottom drawer. It was empty except for the words: Help me. The handwriting was sloppy like it was done by a child. Atsumu quickly slammed it shut. Startling Kiyoomi. “What are you doing,” he snapped. Atsumu suddenly and without warning just ran to the door, slamming his shoulder into it, completely busting it open. Completely tearing the hinges off the wall! Atsumu stumbled into the dark hallway hitting the other wall.
“You are completely insane,” said Kiyoomi dumbfounded. Shining his light on Atsumu slowly straightening up. “We needed to get out of there,” snapped Atsumu. “We didn’t even do any of you're stupid ghost stuff in clearly the most haunted room,” said Kiyoomi. “I panicked ok,” yelled Atsumu, but Kiyoomi just gave up and sighed. “Ok fine let’s go back in and we’ll do the flashlight,” said Atsumu walking back into the room. “Whatever,” said Kiyoomi following his lead. Atsumu set the flashlight up on the dresser from before.
“Ok if there’s something in the room with us, turn on the light,” said Atsumu and almost instantly the light turned on. “If you are one of the twin boys, turn the light off,” said Atsumu and again the flashlight responded and flashed off. Atsumu swallowed as he took a deep breath. “Are you dangerous, turn the light on,” he said unsure. The light stayed off. “I’m going to turn on this spirit box so you can communicate with us. Please. If you understand, say with my name or his name,” said Atsumu turning on the box. The static noise enveloping the room.
“Ah tttt you,” it said and Atsumu got chills. “Omg omg omg we got one,” said Atsumu looking to Kiyoomi who one gave him a bored thumbs up. “Ok what is yer name,” asked Atsumu. “Ee koo welcome home eerk come on down,” the box spat out. “Ok so you're name is Iku? What do you mean welcome home and come on down,” asked Atsumu only for the box to spit out some unintelligible nonsense. “Iku was the name of one of the boys from the article, but a lot of words/part of words sped up also could sound like Iku,” explained Kiyoomi. “Iku if it’s ya turn the light on,” said Atsumu and the light immediately turned on. Atsumu turned off the box.
“Ok Inu if ya are the one who closed the door, turn off the light,” he asked but the light stayed on. “Ok if it was yer brother, turn off the light,” said Atsumu and the light went off. The light then started strobing. Atsumu took some steps back. “Is it supposed to do that,” asked Kiyoomi. “No it’s not,” said Atsumu, quickly grabbing it and shutting it off. Atsumu examined it and realized that now it wouldn’t turn back on. “I think the ghost broke it,” said Atsumu, showing Kiyoomi the light. “Or it’s been faulty this entire time,” Kiyoomi replied. “Yer telling me all of this happened and yer still not convinced there’s shit going on,” gasped Atsumu gesturing wildly. “Well let’s think about it. So far that light and box told you there was a nonbinary demon in the servant quarters, that I was the demon in the main part of the house and now there are ghost twins in this room. Somehow all of that makes sense to you,” asked Kiyoomi raising a brow at the other.
“Clearly the one about ya was just them fucking with us two things can be true at once,” retorted Atsumu and Kiyoomi just stared at him dumbfounded.
“So if you think all of this it true. Come on down must mean we should visit the basement,” said Kiyoomi and Atsumu gulped tightening his grip on the box. “Yeah…. We should totally see the basement,” said Atsumu trying to keep his voice calm and level. “Fine by me. Let’s just clear the rest of these rooms first,” said Kiyoomi walking out. The rest of the rooms were pretty much the same, decor wise. The bathrooms were minimal at best. They both eventually made their way downstairs. “I think the basement is down this hall,” said Kiyoomi, shining his flashlight down the dark damp smelling hallway. Kiyoomi looked back at Atsumu to see him silently giving himself a pep talk. “He must be extremely freaked out. He’s only done that in like two other locations. Is the twin thing still bothering him,” thought Kiyoomi.
“Ok let’s go,” said Atsumu and Kiyoomi nodded before making their way down the hall and finding the basement door. Which looked like it’s seen better days. It looked like it was boarded up, torn off the wall, graffitied, then leaned up against the doorway, in that order. Kiyoomi with his gloved hands grabbed the door and pushed it aside to reveal the word beware on the other side. “Kids will really vandalize anything,” he said nonchalantly. “What if it wasn’t kids,” whispered Atsumu. “Then I’m disappointed in the teens or adults that did it. Especially since they spelled beware wrong,” said Kiyoomi testing the first stair. “Are they good,” asked Atsumu, hoping they weren’t. “I think so. Better to not stand on them too long, just in case,” replied Kiyoomi making his way down.
The walls seemed to be made of concrete. Vastly different from the rest of the house. The wooden stairs making increasingly unsettling sounds. Everything was covered in dust and dirt. Kiyoomi was so happy he had his mask on. It wasn’t till they reached the bottom where both their flashlights landed on the massive amounts of police tape. Either torn down or limply hanging. Dark stains on the floor that could be easily assumed to be blood, and various objects they couldn’t make out scattering the ground. Most were covered in too much dust or dirt. “I don’t think we should snoop down here. Police tape is usually there for a good reason,” said Kiyoomi. Atsumu didn’t fight it. He was terrified. He didn’t care about asking if there were ghosts and demons. He just immediately went up the stairs when Kiyoomi turned around.
They both made it back into the hallway then back into the main part of the house. “Well that’s everything. And like clockwork it should be morning in a few minutes; along with our ride getting here,” said Kiyoomi checking his watch. “Yeah I’m glad to get out of this place,” said Atsumu, dusting himself off. They made it to the front door without any problems and instantly it felt warmer.
“Well it looks like another unhaunted location,” said Kiyoomi and Atsumu looked at him confused. “Yer kidding, we heard footsteps, we talked to a demon, the twins thing, the basement!?,” said Atsumu. “We heard the foundation settling and you talked to a faulty flashlight,” shrugged Kiyoomi “Omi ya can’t be serious,” said Atsumu following him out of the mansion. The morning sun hitting their cold bodies. “I’m very serious, Miya. Go on, do your outro,” said Kiyoomi facing the other. Atsumu looked into the camera and rolled his eyes before smiling. “The Himuro Mansion. Shrouded in mystery and horrors. Are there ghosts? Demons? Portals to the unknown? I guess we’ll never fully know. But we know one thing, this has been an interesting episode. Thanks fer tuning in. See y’all next time on Spirit Finders!,” said Atsumu and with that they turned their cameras off.
Soon their ride came. Kiyoomi noticed Atsumu was oddly quiet. Dissociating while looking out the window. Kiyoomi just attributed it to him being tired. They soon arrived at their hotel for the day. (They were up alright so like usual they’d spend an extra day catching up on sleep before going back home.) This time however Kiyoomi noticed Atsumu not head in the direction of his room but hover around him. “Miya go to bed,” said Kiyoomi swiping his key card, opening the door. “Hey um… I know this sounds stupid but can I stay with you,” said Atsumu and Kiyoomi looked back at him taken back. “Excuse me?,” asked Kiyoomi. “I just…. I don’t know what about this trip shook me up kinda bad but I … please,” said Atsumu clearly embarrassed. Kiyoomi paused for a moment before sighing. “Come on in,” he said walking inside. Atsumu followed him inside quickly.
They set their stuff down and Kiyoomi immediately got out a change of clothes and went into the bathroom to shower. Atsumu knew better than to touch anything without showing first so he just stood by the door on his phone. He texted their editor that they just finished. He took his and Kiyoomi’s cameras sd cards. Pulled out his labtop from his back pack, and while still standing in place managed to upload the raw footage and sent it. Better do it now so they can get the episode out on time. Normally they send footage the day after a shoot, but they needed the episode out earlier for the channels 3 year anniversary. As he shut the labtop he heard the water stop. He couldn’t believe he’s been doing this with Kiyoomi for 3 years.
It all started off as a joke. A thing to do while they had their off season from MSBY. Not it was almost a full time job. He wouldn’t tell their teammates, but it even paid more. His thoughts were caught off by Kiyoomi stepping out of the steaming bathroom. Changed, with a towel over his head. Kiyoomi looked at him then the rest of the room. “Don’t worry I didn’t touch anything, I know I need to shower first,” said Atsumu and Kiyoomi hummed in agreement. He watched Atsumu set his laptop down and grab a change of clothes, before going into the bathroom. Shutting the door behind him. Kiyoomi exhaled as he sat on the edge of the bed and dried off his hair. He checked his phone to see a few messengers from Komori asking about how the ghost hunt went. Another from their editor asking for the footage as soon as possible, and finally one from his mother asking when he was going to visit.
There wasn’t much debate on who he was going to answer first. Especially since he assumed Atsumu already sent the footage, looking at the laptop balanced on Atsumu’s backpack. Kiyoomi clicked on the contact and put the phone to his ear. “Good Morning Kiyo. I didn’t expect a call at 7 in the morning,” yawned Komori. “You texted me,” the other replied dryly. “Yeah last night. I figured you’d answer me later tonight when you woke up from your nap,” explained Komori. “I can call back if you like,” said Kiyoomi, but Komori chuckled. “It’s fine. So how was the haunted mansion,” he asked. “Typical filthy abandoned place. Nothing special to be honest,” Kiyoomi said matter-of-factly. “Really not haunted at all? But all the rumors,” gasped Komori. “Nothing that can’t be explained through science or common sense,” he explained. “Yeah imma wait to watch the episode before I believe you,” laughed Komori. “Suit yourself,” shrugged Kiyoomi. “How’s Atsumu,” he asked. Kiyoomi paused, looking back at the closed bathroom door.
“Unfortunately Miya is pretty shaken up. Seemed this one hit him hard,” said Kiyoomi slightly quieter like he was afraid Atsumu would hear. “Oh? What was different this time,” Komori asked. “Do me a favor and google Twins at Himuro Mansion. That should tell you all you need to know,” explained Kiyoomi. “Ok hold on let me do that super fast,” said Komori. Kiyoomi waited. He heard some quiet shuffling, followed by Komori saying some words here or there till:
“The Strangling Ritual, yikes! Omg Kiyo this is horrific. Jeez no wonder Atsumu is shaken up. I would be too and I’m not even a twin. Could you imagine finding all this out and only being able to think of you and you're sibling in that position. Goddamn people are awful,” said Komori. “We only read a small part of it. I can’t imagine the details they left out of the paper. No wonder Miya wants to sleep with me,” said Kiyoomi casually before he could stop himself. “EXCUSE ME,” yelled Komori. “I didn’t mean it that way. I mean Miya just wants to share a room. I… guess I felt bad so I agreed,” Kiyoomi explained. “Omg is he there now,” Komori asked quickly. “He’s in the shower. I went in first,” Kiyoomi explained. “Oh ok. Wow, here I thought you’d finally accepted you're feelings for him,” teased Komori. Kiyoomi frowned. “There are no feelings,” he snapped. “Sure and I’m sure all those talks about Miya in High School were totally because you wanted to crush him in volleyball and not be crushed by his thi-.”
Kiyoomi cut him off, “it was.” He snapped. “Right, right. Well I should let you get back to you comforting your totally platonic teammate,” Komori said sarcastically. Kiyoomi annoyed, just hung up, tossing his phone on the nightstand as he got up and closed the curtains. Atsumu emerged from the bathroom and looked at Kiyoomi who was frowning at the window. “Oh Omi here I always bring black out curtains. Let me get them,” said Atsumu, going to his bag and shuffling things around. Kiyoomi walked to him and with his towel dropped it on Atsumu’s head who froze. “Your hair’s still dripping wet Miya,” signed Kiyoomi who then shocked Atsumu by drying his hair. After he was done Kiyoomi removed the towel, and grabbed the curtains from Atsumu’s hands. He walked to the window to put them on, leaving a blushing Atsumu just frozen in place.
Kiyoomi was happy Atsumu brought these. They weren’t quite the right size a little larger than needed but they blocked out all the light so Kiyoomi was happy. Kiyoomi got into bed and noticed Atsumu wasn’t doing the same. “You ok Miya,” he asked and immediately heard Atsumu scramble to his feet. “Yeah yeah um sure hold on,” said Atsumu. Thought Kiyoomi’s eyes were still adjusting, he felt Atsumu get into the bed. They both settled in. Kiyoomi tried to sleep but when he turned to face the middle of the bed he could faintly see Atsumu just staring at the ceiling. “Go to sleep Miya,” Kiyoomi replied and Atsumu looked over at him. “Oh sorry Omi. Ya go ahead I’m just think’n,” said Atsumu. “No you're not going to freak yourself out. Go to sleep now,” snapped Kiyoomi. “I can’t just turn my brain off Omi! It doesn’t work that way,” sassed Atsumu. “You’re insufferable. You're not the twin in the stupid ritual. You're fine. I can promise you that you’ll be ok. Now go to sleep,” signed Kiyoomi. “Wow so comforting Omi. Ya should really do this professionally,” grumbled Atsumu. Kiyoomi was about to just say whatever, and go to sleep when Atsumu said in a quiet meek voice.
“You don’t know how it feels. I can’t imagine going through that with Samu…. Just because we’re twins. I googled the ritual in the shower. They didn’t even need both twins… but since they considered each twin half of one person, they had too. Because they were twins; individually they were looked at as less of a person.” Atsumu gripped the sheets tightly. Before continuing. “I would have done anything to get Samu out of there. I would beg to do the ritual alone.” Kiyoomi just listened. He didn’t know what came over him. What possibly possessed him to reach over and pull the blond setter into his arms. Atsumu’s head hitting the others chest. Atsumu could hear Kiyoomi’s heartbeat. His face bright red. Absolutely refusing to look up at Kiyoomi, who had his arms wrapped around the other.
“I promised you’d be ok. Now go to sleep,” said Kiyoomi, his voice a lot more gentle than before. Atsumu let out the breath he was holding and adjusted a little before melting into Kiyoomi’s touch. Who at this point was rubbing the others back in soft slow circles. The matching breathing and familiar scents. It didn’t take long before the warmth and gentle touches put them both to sleep. That next morning Kiyoomi woke up. He looked at his smart watch. Surprised to see it was 6am the next morning. He normally doesn’t sleep this long, normally he wakes up later that same evening and has to take medication to sleep til the next morning. He looked down to see Atsumu still sleeping against his chest. Soft snores, and gentle nuzzling. “Miya… wake up,” whispered Kiyoomi. They might have trouble sleeping tonight if they slept any longer. Atsumu groaned before snuggling closer to Kiyoomi. “Miya come on,” said Kiyoomi. Atsumu slowly opened his eyes and looked up, not registering their position. Soon it clicked and Kiyoomi watched as Atsumu’s face turned bright red in real time.
He quickly let go of Kiyoomi and rolled over to the other side of the bed. Where he almost fell off. “Sorry I uh- bathroom!,” Atsumu practically yelled as he hurriedly off the bathroom and closed the door. Kiyoomi sat up, a hand touching his chest, feeling the residual warmth left behind by the other. Meanwhile Atsumu was hyperventilating in the bathroom. His back against the door wondering what the fuck just happened. His brain replayed how Kiyoomi pulled him in and the sweet words he whispered. Like the memory was on loop. He was panicking. “I have to act normal right? Yeah act completely normal,” thought Atsumu taking in some deep breaths before he opened the door.
The room was a whole lot brighter. Kiyoomi removed the curtains and had them folded on the perfectly made bed. Kiyoomi walked past him into the bathroom to get ready. Atsumu would be lying if he said he didn’t hold his breath when he passed him. Atsumu found his phone on the nightstand and called the only person who could help in this scenario.
“You realize what time is it right? What the fuck do you want?,” grumbled Osamu on the other end of the call. “I need help, now,” whispered Atsumu. “Why are ya whispering? Are ya ok?,” he asked, now sitting up in bed rubbing his eye. “I think I like Omi,” Atsumu whispered back. There was a pause before Osamu replied with, “yer joking right? You just now realized that? Dude you’ve been crushing on him since the first time you saw him at training camp. The call is literally coming from inside the house.” “No I didn't, I just felt like this now,” snapped Atsumu. “Really? What changed,” asked Osamu. “Well we slept together-.”
“YOU DID WHAT,” yelled Osamu. “Not like that scrub! We cuddled! That’s it,” snapped Atsumu forgetting to be quiet at this point. “So that means he likes you. At this point just tell him. What’s the worst that could happen? He says no,” sassed Osamu. “He couldn’t block me on everything, quit the team, move to Paris. Get an apartment with Tendo. They become close. Tendo and Ushijima invite Omi to join their relationship. Soon they become a well adjusted thruple. After which they all get married. They move to Ushijima’s family farm where they all live their life making adorable Pride sweaters from the wool of their prize winning sheep,” panicked Atsumu. “You thought about this way too much. Bro I mean this in the most delicate way but have ya considered therapy,” asked Osamu. “Yer no help,” signed Atsumu. “And yer beyond ma help. Let me know how it goes though,” said Osamu before Atsumu just hung up. He turned around to see Kiyoomi just standing behind him. Atsumu’s bloom went cold.
“Hey Omi…uh ya look great,” said Atsumu nervously putting his phone in his pocket.
“What’s this about me living at Ushijima’s farm, making sweaters?,” he asked, crossing his arms, completely confused. “Oh nothing, just me being stupid,” said Atsumu, quickly turning to grab his stuff. “Miya. Explain now,” glared Kiyoomi. “It’s nothing! Just uh…. My worst case scenario,” Atsumu mumbled the last part but Kiyoomi could still understand. “Your worst scenario includes me knitting,” said Kiyoomi trying to understand. “No Omi it’s not the knitting it’s what the knitting represents!,” signed Atsumu. “Everytime I think I understand you. You decide to make things more confusing,” said Kiyoomi. “I just… don’t want to lose you,” said Atsumu, avoiding the other’s gaze. “Are you still scared? I told you everything would be fine,” said Kiyoomi standing right in front of the other.
“Thanks Omi,” said Atsumu trying to act normal, flashing him his usual smile. “No problem. Shall we head down to breakfast,” he asked. “Yeah but I’m first can I tell you something,” asked Atsumu, watching the other head to the door. “What is it,” asked Kiyoomi looking back at him. “Ya aren’t seeing anyone right?,” he asked. “No? How is that prevalent to you now?,” asked Kiyoomi. “Well I would just feel bad for your boyfriend if he found out about the situation this morning,” said Atsumu. “I see. Well don’t worry. I’m not seeing anyone,” Kiyoomi assured. “Got it… did you want to,” asked Atsumu walking right up to the other. “Start seeing someone? I might,” Kiyoomi replied. “I’m just gunna say it. What about seeing me,” asked Atsumu. Kiyoomi just stared at the other who at this point started to get nervous. “This is the most round about way you could have gone to tell me that you want to go out with me,” said Kiyoomi. Atsumu wanted to melt into the floor and disappear. He couldn’t even look the man in the eyes.
“I would love to Atsumu,” smiled Kiyoomi. Atsumu’s head shot up with shocked expression on his face, that turned into pure joy. “Really Omi,” he gasped. “Yes,” said Kiyoomi and Atsumu hugged him tightly. Nuzzling his face into the crook of his neck. Kiyoomi held him before pulling Atsumu’s head up and connecting their lips together. Both relaxing into the kiss they didn’t know they waited all this time for.
They did not end up making it to breakfast, and their fans were in for a treat on the next episode of Spirit Finder’s!
The End.
