Work Text:
Look, no matter what anyone says, Jeremy is not possessive , okay?
He just… has a healthy protectiveness of things close to him. Or people.
Mostly just one person in particular.
It’s not even a big deal, he’s not going to go rabid the moment his special someone gets attached to someone else or anything, he’s not going to stop them having friends or anything. It's just, that, well-
Michael is a common name; and Jeremy kind of hates that fact.
Michael should be warm cuddles and late nights and sweet kisses; not some random stranger on the street. If he ever has to talk to another person with the name ‘Michael’ he doesn't know what he'd do, but he's definitely not calling them that. He already has a Michael, a wonderful, goofy, kind, and incredible Michael. He doesn't need another one.
It wouldn’t be so bad if the name wasn’t freaking everywhere .
There were three - THREE! - other students in his classes named Michael, to the point where the teachers would mostly just refer to each of them by their last name to make things easier. There were ‘Michael’s in his school, ‘Michael’s in his homework, and don’t even get him started on how many people are named Michael on the internet.
Jeremy kind of wants to tear his hair out about it. The only ‘Michael’s around him should be his boyfriend whose name he scribbles in the margins of his notebook - not random people in his math questions.
He let out a heavy sigh, shaking his head in a futile attempt and regaining his focus on reality. His pen tapped absently against the table, glazed eyes roaming over his homework assignment that had started this stupid train of thought by having his boyfriend’s name in a case study.
His focus almost automatically shifted to his phone, unconsciously grabbing it and taking a picture, sending it along with a text to his boyfriend before keeping the device face down again to stop it from distracting him.
He somehow managed to get the work done, ignoring the twitch in his eye every time he read that stupid (beautiful) name used somewhere it shouldn't be.
Jeremy leaned back in his chair when he was done, immediately reaching for his phone again and checking his notifications, a smile unfurling across his face when he saw a familiar contact in his messages.

Player two: Michael when were you gonna tell me you became a 40 year old business owner huh?? :///
Player one: nOOOOO my secret has been revalaed!
Player one: sorry babe my identity has been compromised :(((
Player one: I have to leave you for my business now
Player one: and my 40 yr old life
Player one: I LOVED YOU
Jeremy snickered, grinning widely with a stupidly fond expression as he typed out a reply.
Maybe it didn’t matter if there were millions of Michael’s out there. The most important one was already his.
