Omega's second time being captured?
“Omega’s on that ship! We need to go after her! Now!!!”
“Without ay backup? Are you crazy???”
“No! We need to go right now, before it’s too late!”
“Fine fine! Fine. Hold on while I turn round this old bucket of bolts!”
This was just another mission op to get the much needed intel of the whereabouts of Mount Tantiss. Only this time around, they had lost someone precious. Again! A pattern Hunter really had not cared for nor wanted to repeat.
Hadn’t Rex just warned him of the same? Keep Omega safe?
Alas, Omega having been on the imperial outpost with them, hanging on the outside just to stay safe while the rest of the team infiltrated the small base to go get the intel they so badly needed.
But this time, Omega being apart from the team had been a miscalculation. Her usually being glued to the team these days, but for whatever reason, she had remained on the outside while even Batcher having gone with the core team.
The imperial ships having arrived out of nowhere onto the sparsely manned outpost was uncanny at best. Phee, having been the one to give them a lift had remained on the ship. Phee having hardly managed to pick up the comm to alert Hunter of the arrivals, when the imperials troopers had already landed and snatched the unsuspecting Kid without too much in resistance.
As if knowing where she would be at that exact moment?
Hunter and the team had immediately ran out from the outpost and gone after the imperials with varying luck. Hunter being the one in the lead, having managed to hop on the ramp of the second ship, tearing a few of the TK troopers down before he too had to jump out while the ship ascended to the skies.
And so here they now were. In hot pursuit. With Phee at the helm. Having left Echo and Wrecker behind on the planet to retrieve the data and possibly catch another ride back to home base. With Hunter, Crosshair and Phee on the trail of the imperial ships, but it seemed somewhat difficult to pursue them. As it seemed the imperials had their ships’ power systems upgraded along side new stealth mode implemented. Tracking them on the navigational computer thus difficult at best.
“Faster! We’re loosing them!” Hunter wasn’t about to quit now, not when they were so close, seeing the imperial shuttles right there, on the screen finally after some tinkering on the devices.
“They’re going to jump into hyperspace!” Crosshair piled on, equally as irked about loosing Omega. The sniper having quickly become the surrogate parent slash best friend to the Kid even if Hunter did not always appreciate the fact the two hung out so much. Omega picking up bad habits and all. But those were minor complaints. “We don’t have much time before they disappear again!” Something they had seen happening. The navigational console not able to follow them all the time.
“I can see that!” Phee rolled her eyes. “That’s why I have all these nice instruments on my dashboard here.” Phee snarled rather sharply, clearly not appreciating the advice given by the other two. Having already started the preparations for the jump, but it took longer for the older ship to warm up. Punching the console in frustration when some of the lights started blinking and beeping. “And may I remind you I am the captain of this, ship!”
Phee pushed the buttons again. The two “parents” rolling their collective eyes, while huffing and puffing on the sidelines. The two of them fidgeting clearly wanting to jump to the helm and steer the damned ship themselves.
But they were guests on this vessel. So, calming down was their only option while letting Phee, the Captain and do her thing.
“Sorry.” Hunter managed while Crosshair said nothing. Simply glaring at the woman, not really sure what to do or say. Best bet being for him was to follow Hunter’s lead on this one as Crosshair did not really know Phee from Adam and he wasn’t about to anger the only means of catching the imps at this point.
“Good!” Phee pushed the several levers. “Hold onto something!”
The ship took off in a flash, whooshing right after the imperial ships. The two troopers able to see the clear tracking dots on the navigation console emerging once again. Their only choice now was to trust that Phee could actually keep up with the imps and get them wherever their enemy was going.

“They’re landing on that planet with the twin moons.”
“It doesn’t look like Tantiss though.”
“Yeah, I can see that.”
“We need to keep a distance.”
“I am doing just that!”
“Let’s not hang too far behind though.”
“Can you check the coordinates and pinpoint the location of…”
“I know what I’m doing boys!”
Phee was getting a tad tired of both Crosshair and Hunter breathing down her neck. She knew what she was doing. Well, most of the time. Being stealthy, keeping the distance just so. But being able to monitor the goings on planet side just the same.
“The planet is called Talos. There is a small agricultural settlement on it, nothing much else.”
“Definitely not Tantiss.”
“Yeah, well, guess they have another base here. Waiting for pickup maybe?”
“Why? Why not fly directly to Tantiss?”
“Guess they don’t know where it is. It’s location is pretty tightly kept.”
“So, in other words, they don’t know the location?”
“Best guess. No.”
Hunter could see Phee’s wheels starting to turn just then. “What if…”
“No! Absolutely not! We’re not letting them drag Omega back there. Even if we could follow them. Find the place ourselves.”
“Yeah, no. What Hunter said. Omega is not to be used as bait.” Crosshair snarled protectively.
“Fine fine with me!” Phee raised her arms in surrender. “Just a thought, is all.”
Phee pushed a few buttons again, her secret device coming on line. She did not run it constantly, the thing taking way too much power in constant use. So, only using it on special occasions. And this certainly warranted as such. Her favourite, well second favourite kid having been captured by the imps no less. But yeah, this was serious business!
“What exactly is that thing doing?” Hunter looked at the bleeping lights, the small box humming before a faded holo image emerged onto it.
“I am scanning the planet, visually. Live holo feed.”
“It… it doesn’t look very clear.” Crosshair squinted his eyes, trying to get the holo presentation into focus.
“I know, I know… it takes a moment to warm up, is all.”
Just then, the image got clearer. They three of them could see the two ships, the imperial troopers. All of them TK ones but with no kid in sight.
“Can we pinpoint Omega?”
“Hold on.”
Phee made a few more adjustments, and voila! There it was, the infrared image appearing, seeing through the hull of the ships clear as day! And there she was, a tiny figure hunched over in one of the ships.
“That’s Omega!”
“What you waiting for then?”
“Guess we’ll land the ship!”

Hunter and Crosshair were moving quickly and stealthily across the expanse between their ride and the imperial ships. Reaching them in no time.
It took mere seconds between the two of them to take care of the imperial troopers. No trouble at all!
“All clear!”
Crosshair simply nodded as they entered the ship where Omega was spotted earlier.
“Omega?”
“Megs?”
“Hunter? Crosshair?”
The reunion between the three was swift yet filled with so much emotion, Crosshair simply grabbing the Kid into his arms and carrying her out while Hunter held the rear.
The troopers were out cold, no threat from them forthcoming and the place was remote enough for the farmers to ignore any kind of unscheduled action.
The trio was running to the ship where they were greeted by a smiling Phee. Her then giving Omega a hug too, before taking back to the cockpit for takeoff.
“Remind me again what the rules are.” Hunter asked Omega when they were on their way back to pickup Echo and Wrecker, still waiting for their ride which was them.
“I will not stay behind or separate from the team ever again.” Omega smirked, as it totally had been Hunter’s idea. For her to stay behind for whatever reason.
“The lesson learnt here really is, to never listen to Hunter.” Crosshair reminded Omega, the three of them laughing. Only too relieved to come out of this perfect scare together without loosing the others.
