During a snowy Saturday at the McGee’s house, Molly and her boyfriend Ollie decided to cuddle up in a blanket and hygge it out while rewatching a movie they both loved; Country Pumpkin 4: Harvest of the Heart.
They loved the movie, but just being in each other's company and feeling each other's warmth was enough to bring them joy. The soothing fireplace and a couple of mugs of hot cocoa certainly helped, but they were mostly happy to be together.
They had trouble sitting still while watching due to the movie being such an emotional and romantic rollercoaster. This part in the thrilling hexology ended with the main character, Gourdon, successfully proposing to his lifelong friend Chanelle, whereupon the credits began to roll.
“Aww, love always wins!” Ollie said.
“Even after the fifth watch, it’s still such an amazing movie! Plus, I got to watch it with my awesome boyfriend,” Molly said as she leaned onto Ollie’s shoulder.
Ollie blushed. “I’m glad I got to watch it with you too, Molly.” He then looked at the time on his phone. “Oh, it’s getting a little late, I should probably head back home,” he said.
“Would you like a goodbye kiss before you go?” Molly coyly asked.
Ollie’s blush deepened, and he quoted Chanelle’s final line of dialogue from the movie. “Oh Molly, I do not object!” he said.
Molly leaned in for a kiss on Ollie’s cheek. She got closer and closer until her lips reached his skin, and she managed to-
“Ow!” Ollie suddenly yelped.
“Sweet baby corn, what happened? Are you okay?” Molly asked.
Ollie started giggling as he realized what just happened. “I’m fine, I think you just shocked me by accident.”
Molly was confused. How did she manage to shock Ollie? Joy usually manifested itself as electricity, so was she overloaded with joy or something? Then Molly remembered a key detail.
“Ah, we have been sitting and shuffling our feet on this carpet for the last few hours. That would explain it,” Molly deduced.
“Hey, don’t worry about it! You probably just discharged most of it, so I’d say give it another shot,” Ollie said.
“Alrighty, here goes nothing!” Molly said as she leaned in for another kiss. Thankfully, this kiss was-
“OW!” Ollie yelped again.
“Maybe we should get off this carpet,” Molly suggested.
Ollie began to laugh harder from the hilarity of this situation. “Good idea,” he said through his laugh.
The two unwrapped their blankets and got up from the carpet, then touched the metal doorknob on the front door to the house to dissipate the charge. Ollie put his winter jacket and boots back on, leaving one matter unaccounted for.
“Third time’s the charm, right?” Molly said.
“If I was paying attention in our science class from a few weeks back, we should both now be static-free. Let’s try one last time,” Ollie replied.
“Okay, here I go,” Molly said as she leaned in. She got close to Ollie’s cheek, and successfully laid the goodbye kiss on it.
“It worked! I didn’t shock you that time! Love triumphs over all!” Molly triumphantly said as she began to lay on some more kisses.
“Okay! I get the idea, Molly. I love you too,” Ollie said as he started laughing yet again. “Well, see you at school on Monday!”
“See you soon, Ollie!” Molly said as her boyfriend exited the house.
What an electrifying date.
