Chapter Text
As usual, Akito entered Kamiyama High, the only thing on his mind being practice later today. ‘Only eight hours left until practice. How great,’ he thought. School was almost always boring and uneventful. The ginger wasn’t particularly looking forward to helping out the soccer club today either. He was already dreading school and the bell hadn’t even rung yet. Akito managed to catch Toya approaching the library, holding a short stack of books and (as quickly as he could without being yelled at by the teachers and disciplinary committee) ran to him.
“Yo, what up dude?” Akito asked casually, slightly extending out a fist.
Toya lightly fist-bumped Akito while pushing up the five or so books he was carrying onto his chest. “Not much, I’m just gonna put a small new order of books into the library really quick. Could you wait just a bit?”
Akito sighed. “Yeah, sure I guess. I’ll just wait here. Patiently.”
“Don’t worry Akito, it won’t take long, we’ll still have time to chat before class starts,” Toya assured him. “Oh look, there’s Shiraishi. You can talk with her in the meantime.”
Akito reluctantly walked over to An, who was pacing against the wall at the other side of the hallway. He could see she was quickly running her fingers through her hair, a nervous habit she had that Akito discovered when VBS was formed. “What’s got your hair looking so disgusting right now?”
An slightly jumped and sighed when she realized it was just the ugly ginger. “Dude, we have an exam and I forgot to study at all last night.”
“HUH!?” Akito was almost at the noise level Tsukasa was usually at.
“I KNOW RIGHT?” An replied in a quieter yell, then in a whisper. “Also, you’re drawing too much attention with your volume. You sound like a certain senior right now…”
“Sorry, I gue—“ Akito got cut off by some random girl with an annoying whiny voice.
“Oh my gosh, Miya girls have it so lucky. MORE MORE JUMP!, an amazing idol group, literally attends their school,” the girl, who Akito recognized as Ozawa Kimiko, complained.
She was to the side of Akito, who was leaning on the wall. To be honest, Akito felt like his ears were going to bleed. Kimiko came from a rich family and was extremely privileged. And not to mention pretty fucking bratty. She had pin-straight black hair that was always let down and wore more make-up than even Ena did. He’s had many encounters with Kimiko and he’s realized that she always wants things done her way and her opinion to be the right opinion.
“Stop being ungrateful, we also have a fair share of popular singers here at Kamiyama,” a girl with a less whiny voice could be heard.
Akito believed it was Aoki Yuka, a hall monitor. He’s seen her with An while they watched over the school sometimes. She’s pretty unnoticeable with her average medium-length, medium brown hair and eyes. He didn’t know much about her personality, but from what he’s seen, Yuka likes everything to be peaceful and in complete order.
Speaking of An, it was pretty clear that she was also eavesdropping on the conversation. Toya happened to be back and was also listening in. Akito couldn’t help but try to hear what the girls were talking about as well. Though the trio were positioned in a triangle sort of shape, with Akito leaning against the wall, they were facing more of the direction of the girls than each other.
A third girl, Konda Mari, continued the conversation, “Yeah, you know, there are two seniors and a girl in our grade that are in a theater troupe at Phoenix Wonderland. And they really have talent.”
Mari was known a bit around school for being quite the athlete, but also for being aggressive and causing a couple fights at school. Akito had actually gotten in a fight with her and he couldn’t help but admit that she was pretty good. He wouldn’t want to mess with her again. Her dark brown hair was always in a high pony-tail and it swung almost as a warning sign to others.
Kimiko scoffed, “Yeah right, ‘Weirdo Wombo Combo’ and the girl who’s to embarrassed to be their friend. How could I forget.” She rolled her eyes.
“ooof,” Akito said, holding his fist to his mouth.
“Akito!” Toya shot Akito a stern look.
This time, a guy named Mae Yuu chimed in, “There are some members of a street group trying to surpass RAD WEEKEND that go here. Oh, they’re right behind you.”
The trio poorly tried to hide the fact that they were listening to their schoolmates talk about them, quickly trying to face each other without looking awkward. “So… how’s the weather today?” An asked the two boys from her group. Akito elbowed her in the stomach. “Dude, what is wrong with y-“ An started, then realized the others were looking straight at them.
Yuu explained, “I’ve seen them perform before at Crawl Green and they’re really good. Amazing even.” It looked like he winked, but Akito didn’t know who or what it was directed toward.
Akito didn’t know much about Yuu, but he figured he was only hanging around those other girls to mess around with them. That’s what he’s known to do anyways. He was a typical attractive guy with a shitty personality, fluffy light brown hair and a slightly-toned body. He played all the sports and all the girls that he could.
“We’re flattered,” Toya responded for both An and Akito before either of them could say or do anything stupid again.
“Well, Miya girls also have a band named Leo/Need, who also play at live houses” responded Kimiko in a bratty tone, ignoring Toya’s thanks and turning her back on him and his group members.
“Mhm, I’ve seen them once play some music online and they’re good enough to go pro,” Yuka agreed.
Mari quickly pulled out her phone. “Online music huh? There’s an online music group that’s been blowing up recently called N25. They’re anonymous, but some rumors have been going around that they’re students both here at Kamiyama and Miya girls.”
“Okay, argument solved, both Miyamasuzaka and Kamiyama are lucky in terms of music. Now let’s start heading to class,” Yuka quickly spewed out and turned to walk away. The rest of the group followed suit.
An, Akito, and Toya were left there in the hallway, surprised that students at their school were arguing about which of their close friends’ (and siblings’) music groups were better.
Apparently, they weren’t alone in the hallway and all of Wonderlands x Showtime, including Emu, were also eavesdropping on the debate between the group of students. In fact, they started listening in ever since Akito shouted because they wanted to see what made him almost reach normal Tsukasa-level volume. The theater troupe was also taken aback by the discussion about the more talented music group.
Before anyone could say anything, the bell rang and everyone quickly walked to their classes. Except Emu, who skipped all the way to her school, as she always did.
Of course, An and Akito remembered they had an exam they were definitely both going to fail right as they walked into their respective classes. “oh sh-”
