Is that a new brother I see?

Summary:

All the brothers exchanged a knowing glance and looked at their little sister with a superior smile – except Tech, but his know-it-all look was a pretty decent equivalent.

"How is Kestis?"

"He's fine," the girl replied before crossing her arms defensively. "How did you know I was with Cal?"

"Big brother privilege, we all know when someone is trying to hide a date."

Work Text:

When six of you lived in the same place, you were forced to get to know each other very well, even if you sometimes did not want to. Sometimes they did escort missions and Omega had the room to herself a few nights, and sometimes one of them was not there for a few hours or even a night to visit a lover, but overall they all knew each other like the back of their hand and they were all very observant.

Seeing Omega staring into space, doodling mindlessly, and spending a lot more time outside could only mean one thing, so the brothers investigated to confirm their suspicions and it was this: their baby little sister had the crush.

They were all going to have so much fun with this. The first thing that was decided was to tell Tech not to speak too early in the conversation, they wanted to be able to tease with irony and Tech did not know how to do that, and when he agreed everyone made sure to be there the same evening to attend this.

None of them had been spared when it came to love, it was almost a silent tradition at this point, and neither of them wanted to give it up. Inwardly they all thought hesitantly about the fact that Omega was fourteen and that might be a bit young for this, but on the other hand they did not know enough about the Natborns to know how they did these things. Damn, they barely knew how they were making their own relationships work and the Jedi did not seem to know much better… or it was normal for all Natborns to behave differently when they were in love, it was complicated. Plus, Phee was not a Jedi but Tech still found her very complicated despite all his irrational affection for her.

No one was sure what to say or do about it, so they planned things out: it was the first time that it would not be an entirely spontaneous conversation based on one of them caught red-handed so they wanted to do things well for that this factor would not ruin the effect. Echo was particularly invested in this subject, he and Barriss had kept this slightly ugly drawing that she had made when she first learned about watercolors. This work of art was a constant source of motivational big brother energy for him.

They started by confirming that they were going to block the door so she would not escape and then went through a list of key phrases to say to reassure her. She was young and quite emotional, they did not want her to think they disapproved.

And suddenly, about an hour before she usually came home, the door opened.

"I'm home! The Jedi who was supposed to finish the mechanics course had to cancel and his replacement is ill. Um... guys, is everything okay?"

Their little sister's mechanics class was supposed to last three hours and had – supposedly – started over an hour early. She needed barely ten minutes to return: the perfect opening.

The little girl's cheeks turned red.

"What… no! It wasn't a date!"

"Sure..."

"Really, it is...

"It is…?"

"I don't know, he's... nice."

"And he's quite a pretty boy."

Omega nodded, shrugging hesitantly.

"I like him that’s true but I don't know if he thinks the same, he talks a lot about a girl he met on Dathomir so I'm not sure I have a chance."

Neither brother could understand how anyone could choose someone over their sister, but they remained calm and supportive.

Three days later, as if they had given her courage, Omega asked the boy on a date. It turned out that the Zabrak, Merrin, was already his girlfriend. Omega was disappointed, but understanding. But above all disappointed.

The brothers decided to take her on a trip to Mandalore to take her mind off things, and everyone congratulated Hunter on that one when they witnessed the first look between her and a Kryze boy. The two kept looking at each other and looked away when the other noticed, it was...incredibly cute.

They quickly decided to stay longer than the few days initially planned: Korkie did not have a girlfriend – for the moment – and they had to give them enough time to make the boy want to go study at Coruscant so they could see each other as often as possible while Omega finished her own studies. It was only rational, since they were not going to let her go, he had to come with them.

In the hope that the Kryze would not be too offended or upset, the clones preferred to add to their ranks rather than dispersing their brothers, and the Bad Batch took care of their sister like a brother.

They would not leave her to just anyone.
