Work Text:

Tonight was supposed to be special, a night celebrating eight months with his girlfriend, but the evening barely started before it ended. And now, Shouto is standing outside his girlfriend’s apartment, arguing with her about wanting him for his name instead of who he is.

“What the hell are you talking about right now, Shouto? Come on! Why are you being like this?” snaps his girlfriend of eight months, Amalia, as they stop in front of her neighbor's apartment, her hand gripping his cool wrist in her anger.

“I’m talking about you flirting with Izuku despite knowing he’s engaged to Katsuki! I’m talking about you flirting with the server at the restaurant tonight on our date to celebrate eight months that you planned!” snaps Shouto frustratedly as he pulls his wrist out of her hold, hurt and confusion running through his eyes as he takes in the caught look on her face, the panic in her brown eyes. “I’m not so blind as to not notice this shit, and even if I was, do you honestly think Izuku and Katsuki wouldn’t tell me about the little stunts you pulled with them?”

“I didn’t- They were just- They were lying! I- Shouto, you have to believe me.” stutters Amalia in a panic, looking completely lost on how to fix her mess.

“I’ve known them for years, Amalia, they’re practically my brothers. They have had my back through every fucking messy relationship, and you thought you could try to fuck around with theirs?” asks Shouto with a disbelief filled chuckle as he takes a step back, moving away from her. “You thought I wouldn’t believe them if they told me? You thought I’d do nothing about it when they told me? Seriously, Amalia, do you even want me? Or are you just trying to get the fame and power that comes with the Todoroki name?”

“No, come on. Shouto, you know I love you. We just said “I love you” to each other two months ago for the first time. Don’t, don’t be like this.” says Amalia quickly as she tries to save face, and Shouto flinches away from the acrylic nails that reach out for him. The reaction bothers her enough that she starts pouting at him. “Shouto, come on. We have appearances to make this week, you can’t do this.”

“Yes, I can. And honestly, I’m going to do a lot more. We need to break up, Amalia.” replies Shouto quietly, hurt swimming through the blank look on his face as he tries to hold it together.

“What about your brother’s wedding? Who are you going to take to the wedding, Shouto? It’s in three days, and I’m your date!” sneers Amalia as she stomps her foot in those pretty red stilettos that Shouto had bought her three weeks ago to match the red floral dress she’s wearing.

“I’ll take mozzarella sticks since Touya will be serving Cold Soba. Goodbye, Amalia.” replies Shouto coldly before he takes his leave, heading for the apartment stairs and to the lobby to call Izuku and Katsuki for a ride since his car is in the shop.

“Hey, are you okay?” comes a sleepy voice that pulls Shouto’s attention away from his call. This gorgeous man is standing beside him, he’s got a business suit on, it’s jet black, and his lavender hair is falling out of the bun on the back of his head. “My boyfriend said there was a fight, you’re Amalia’s ex now?”

“Y-yeah, I’m okay. Sorry, and yes, I am. Fucking hell, Kat I need a ride home. I’ll explain in the car, just hurry your ass up dammit.” huffs Shouto, tense smile fading as he turns his attention back to the loud voice snapping over the phone.

“I could give you a ride, if you need. Me and Hanta were planning to go out to eat, so we could drive you first. Our reservation isn’t for another hour or so, and Han wanted to go get some flowers for the chef.” offers the man amicably, voice still sounding tired but full of care and open concern.

“I-"

“Don’t you fucking dare, candy cane! We’ll be there in ten!”

“My idiot friends-"

“Brothers!”

“My idiot brothers are on their way but thank you for the offer! I hope you have a wonderful dinner!” replies Shouto with an annoyed tone as Katsuki and Izuku start talking over each other in his ear. “Fuck it, I’ll talk to you two when you get here.”

Shouto hangs up the phone and runs a hand over his face, annoyance and hurt drifting side by side in his eyes. But the worst part is going to come when he tells Keigo and Touya what happened, Touya will be proud and want to burn the bitch somehow. Keigo will laugh and hold Shouto while he cries, but he will also reach out to his dads to find ways to ruin her. And that doesn’t even consider what will happen when Katsuki and Izuku get the whole story, those four together are menaces when it’s about someone they care for.

“Toshi, babe! Is everything okay? You didn’t text me back!” comes a deep drawl that has Shouto turning around in time to see this lithe built man jumping into the lavender haired man’s arms and smothering him with kisses.

There’s a feeling swirling in his gut, but Shouto can’t really place it. He wonders, as he turns back to the doors, if it’s envy or jealousy because he wishes he had that or because he wants them. It wouldn’t be the first time he envied a relationship. He envies Izuku and Katsuki’s. Hell, it wouldn’t even be the first time he was attracted to a man, taken or single, but it would be the first time he was attracted to a couple.

“Everything’s fine, he’s got a ride.” comes the voice of this “Toshi” and there’s this sense of sadness in his voice that has Shouto’s brows scrunching together.

“Oh, well did you at least introduce yourself?”

Shouto shakes his head because they’re not being quiet at all, and there’s no doubt if they live near Amalia that they know who he is. He’s not in the mood for games after that mess.

“No, but I didn’t want to- and we’re introducing ourselves anyways.” snorts the tired man as Shouto feels a tap on his shoulder just as Izuku’s jeep pulls up.

“Sorry, my ride’s here.” says Shouto softly before either of them can respond, hand pushing the door open.

“Wait, uh, we won’t take long! We just- We just wanted to introduce ourselves, if… if that’s okay?” offers the black-haired man with a hesitant smile.

“That’s- okay, um, I’m Shouto Todoroki, nice to meet the both of you.” replies Shouto softly, twisting around to hold his hand out to them.

The lavender haired man takes it first, sighing almost fondly, “I’m Hitoshi Shinsou, it’s nice to meet you, Shouto.”

“I’m Hanta Sero! It’s nice to finally meet you! Be safe, okay?” says Hanta as he takes Shouto’s hand next and smiles brightly at him.

“I will be, I’m in good hands with those jerks.” replies Shouto almost shyly before he nods to them and leaves.

His cheeks are red as he slips into the back of the jeep, and Katsuki’s wearing a smirk in the rear-view mirror as Izuku turns to look at him with wide green eyes and a curious grin.

“Just take me home, we’ll talk more then.” huffs Shouto as he twists his head to look away from them.

“Someone has a crush… maybe two crushes!” says Izuku in a sing-song voice as Katsuki gets them on the road.

“We’ll come back to that because first things first, I need to know what that bimbo bitch did to make you break up with her, outside of the whole fucking with me and Izu’s relationship.” says Katsuki as he quickly redirects the conversation because he’s not calm enough to tease Shouto about having crushes again.

“She flirted with the hostess, flirted with the waiter, then made a whole scene and got our food to go because the waiter and the chef ruined our food. She played it up to the paparazzi who were outside waiting for us, and I just couldn’t do it anymore. So, I broke up with her.” explains Shouto easily, shrugging as he faces the window again, watching as they pass house after house after apartment after house.

“What about Touya’s wedding, wasn’t she supposed to be your date?” asks Izuku as he sticks his head around the seat to look at Shouto while the car slows to a stop at a red light.

“Oh, yeah, about that.” Shouto chuckles for a moment as he remembers her face. “I told her I would be taking Mozzarella sticks since Touya is already serving cold soba.”

Katsuki snorts before laughing so hard he has to turn his hazards on and pull over, and Izuku covers his face as he starts laughing too.

“She didn’t like that very much, but hey, at least I can tell Touya he won’t have to worry about her trying to steal his and Keigo’s spotlight with the paparazzi before the reception.” chuckles Shouto as he watches Katsuki and Izuku struggle to calm down.

“You are fuckin great, Sho. God, her face was probably priceless, wasn’t it? Oh, I’m so mad I missed it.” chuckles Katsuki as he signals that he’s getting back on the road, swiftly getting the car back into traffic and shutting his hazards off while wiping a tear from his eye.

“I love you, Sho, that was beautiful. God, Kei and Tou are gonna have a field day when they hear that one.” says Izuku breathlessly as he wipes his face of his laughing tears.

“Yeah, and then they’re going to figure out a way to ruin her without it falling back on me. I honestly don’t want to deal with them, but they’re going to be at the family brunch in the morning because Keigo finally decided on the music playlist and Nats will be there to finally get it.” huffs Shouto with a pout out the window because he is not ready to tell them what happened, and he’s even less ready to tell the world about the damn break-up. “I am never letting another relationship be that fucking public again.”

“The next time you get into a relationship, it’s going to be on your terms more than your father’s, and you can discuss that with them rather than it being in a contract. Your dad can’t control your dating life anymore for the sake of the company because Touya is taking over while Keigo handles the law side of things with the Aizawa Law Firm.” says Katsuki in a tone that pulls Shouto’s attention because it’s one of protection and ferocity that he doesn’t hear from Katsuki as often because he keeps his emotions close to the vest unless something pulls at them.

“Awe, Kacchan is getting protective because of your dad being an asshole again! But he’s also very right on this too, Sho. This time it’s going to be up to you because your dad made his bed, and Touya is gonna make sure he lays in it. Take your time to breathe after this mess, but then, when you’re ready, you can go after someone on your terms instead of his.” Izuku’s got that tone of awe because of how soft his fiancé is being right now, but then he’s twisting around to look at Shouto and ensuring that he doesn’t miss his sincerity and fierceness that follows.

“I know, guys, I know, but thank you for reminding me again. I don’t think dating is something that I want to even slightly think about until I’ve ensured that she won’t come around me again. I also need to keep the paparazzi away because they were hiding outside of the apartment, and you know they’re going to run something unseemly after seeing me leave the way that I did.” Shouto’s voice goes from grateful to grumbly because he knows that social media is going to explode with news of the newest member at Endeavor’s Modelling Agency and Consultant Company leaving his girlfriend’s apartment looking blue in maybe fifteen minutes.

“I can’t wait to see what headline they’re going to use. But, aside from that, you know you can reach out to Rumi as soon as we get you home to give a statement that she can put out into the world to head off the situation.” replies Izuku as he settles back into his seat while Katsuki turns a corner and rolls to a stop in front of a gated apartment building.

“I know, I’m just going to text her a statement, and let her run with it so I don’t have to deal with it at all. Thank you, guys, for the ride, sorry for interrupting your plans, and I will see you lot for brunch tomorrow.” says Shouto softly as he opens the door before he’s slipping out of the car and waving as he shuts the door.

Shouto heads for the gate, already pulling out his wallet to grab his ID card to show the security guard at the gate, and then he’s slipping through the opening gate and heading for the building. His phone is buzzing in his pocket, but he ignores it as he steps up to the door and types in his code to be let in. Shouto beelines for the elevator when he hears the front desk worker call out a flirty line in his direction because while he is an attractive young man, he knows the man is the type to sleep around, not date.

Before the elevator doors close, he’s already typing out a simple statement for Rumi to use in whatever way she chooses.

Shouto: On a night that was supposed to be a celebration, the relationship ended. I wish Amalia all the best, but this is where the connection ends. I’d like to be left alone while I process the end of an eight-month relationship.

Shouto: Do with that what you will, Rumi, and do it fast because the press isn’t going to wait long for a response before they steamroll negativity at me and the agency.

Rumi: Got it. Sorry kid.

Shouto: Just deal with the mess so I don’t have to avoid social media as Kei posts wedding preparation updates. I’m supposed to be sharing them on my feeds too.

When he gets himself into his apartment, he’s immediately groaning because there lying on his couch with a foot on the ground is Keigo Takami, his brother’s fiancé.

“Why are you in my apartment, Takami? Not only that, but how the hell did you get in here? I only gave Touya, Yumi, and Nats access to the guest entrance.” sighs Shouto as he slips his shoes off by the door and drops his keys and wallet in the bowl by the door.

“I’m in here making soba!” calls Touya as Keigo points in the direction of the kitchen before he sits up and holds his arms out to Shouto.

“Come on, little brother, let me give you a hug for the heartbreak of the girl you didn’t even want to date, but started falling for. We’ll get you all comfy and happy and then we can talk about how you want us to handle the contracts her family has with us.” says Keigo in a gentle tone as he gestures for Shouto come over to him, to the hug awaiting him if he were to approach Keigo right now.

Shouto does exactly that because Keigo is someone he’s very close to, Touya too, but Keigo won him over years ago even when Shouto still held a grudge against Touya for leaving to live with their mom and leaving him behind.

“This sucks.” mumbles Shouto into Keigo’s neck as he lets himself be hugged.

“I know, sweetheart, I know. But it’s gonna be okay, I promise. You’ll find someone better, maybe even two someone’s, you never know. But at least this one is the last one your father can choose for you. Finally, we get to see Shouto choose the person, or people, he wants to pursue.” says Keigo softly, gentle voice as he runs Shouto’s back before Shouto pulls away to flop back in his spot and stare at the ceiling.

“Yeah, like the greenbean and angry Pomeranian!” calls Touya from the kitchen and Shouto gags instantaneously.

“No chance in hell, never, they’re my brothers, you take that back!” yells Shouto while he pretends to gag, feeling queasy at the thought because he loves Katsuki and Izuku, he does, but not like that.

“I told you, babes!” calls Touya, sounding like he’s trying to hide his laughter.

“Well, okay, admittedly that was a long shot, but I still want to include polyamory because you never know. And Sho has a lot of love to give!” calls Keigo sheepishly as he grins at Shouto and gives him a half-shrug when he gives Keigo the “are you crazy?” look. “What? It was a possibility!”

“Not even when I figured out that I was bi was that a possibility to me. Not once.” replies Shouto with a blank look as he shakes his head at Keigo while Touya’s laugh echoes loudly from the kitchen. “And you don’t get to laugh because it was fucking Tenya, and it was your fault for being around Tensei and Nemuri all the damn time!”

“It was the funniest shit in the world when you realized it and immediately turned so red that I thought you were going to actually burst into flames during a family dinner night at the Idia’s.” Touya is laughing so hard that it sounds like he’s wheezing, and Shouto huffs as he pushes himself up and goes into the kitchen to smack him for teasing him.

“Shuddup, at least I didn’t accidentally out my crush because I was too drunk to realize I wasn’t talking to my brother!” replies Shouto while sticking his tongue out at Touya and smirking when Touya immediately sobers up to glare at him. “Yeah, not so fun now, is it?”

“We don’t talk about that, Sho.” says Touya as he points at Shouto, and they give each other that look where they’ve decided to call it a draw and let it drop. “Food’s done, you grab the bowls, and I’ll carry this to the table. I already put a hot pad out for it on the table.”

“Alright, yell at your fiancé to stop lazing on my couch and get to his chair.” replies Shouto with a shrug as he grabs the bowls and chopsticks before following Touya out.

“Come on, Kei, dinner time baby.” says Touya loudly as they leave the kitchen and round the corner to the dining room/living room combo space.

Dinner goes about as Shouto expected. Touya and Keigo being lovey while talking about ruining Amalia. Shouto didn’t even have an appetite, but he ate a little bit since he didn’t get to eat his food and left it with Amalia.

“So, what did she say when you broke up with her? Did she say anything about the wedding?” asks Keigo softly, curious as his eyes narrow on Shouto like he’s a hawk preparing to attack his prey.

He just wants more information that he can use against her, and Shouto can’t be mad at that.

“She did bring up the wedding, she asked what I was going to do about it if we broke up. I told her I’d be taking Mozzarella sticks since Touya already said he’s serving cold soba for me.” replies Shouto with a shrug before he eats his last bite and waits.

He doesn’t have to wait long for Touya to fall out laughing, actually falling off his chair after a loud snort that sounded like to hurt him, and Keigo barely manages to stay in his chair as he cackles.

“You are the best!” snorts Keigo as he shakes his head.

“That’s my baby brother! I’m so proud of you, Sho! That’s fuckin’ beautiful!” wheezes Touya as he pulls himself back into his chair, red in the face as he tries to catch his breath.

“You two sound like Izu and Kats. They said the same things when I told ‘em.” says Shouto with an amused tone and a shake of his head before he’s standing and picking his bowl up, lightly talking over his shoulder as he heads for the kitchen. “Anyways, I’m gonna go ahead and get ready for bed. Either clean your dishes or leave ‘em for me. I can do with busy work for my hands, but I’m done eating and need a shower to relax into being able to go to sleep early. I’m exhausted already.”

“We’ll handle dishes so you can do some before bed reading instead. I’ll pack up the leftovers before we get out of your hair but take a bath with the lavender stuff instead of a shower!” hollers Touya as Shouto dips into the kitchen to place his bowl gently in the sink before he meets him in the doorway. “Take some time to really relax, you deserve it, especially after tonight.”

“Alright, I’ll use the jets and the lavender bath soaps and bubble beads and take a bath before bed. Get your future husband to your apartment before he decides to never leave me alone again. He’s really playing big brother over a break-up that even I can admit was coming sooner rather than later.” grumbles Shouto with an eye roll, ducking his head under the hand coming to mess up his hair, though Touya catches him right after that anyways and mixes his hair all up, the white and red strands layering together to make a mess. “At least you two don’t have to worry about her trying to steal the spotlight with the paparazzi between the ceremony and the reception.”

“Yeah, but greenbean texted us about what you told him and blondie. He also mentioned potential crushes, so Kei is definitely already trying to figure out who you might be interested in. He wants to help make introductions in an authentic way with just a bit of a nudge. He’s all about love, you know that.” explains Touya lightheartedly as he moves for the sink, placing his and Keigo’s bowls in the sink before he’s moving to the cabinet behind him to grab containers to start packing away the leftovers.

“Tell him to leave it alone. I made introductions with the two that intrigued me, but I don’t want him playing matchmaker in any manner, even if it’s subtle. I just want to get to and through your wedding without dealing with paparazzi or my ex.” replies Shouto with a serious tone before it eases in a sigh because he knows that if Keigo gets his way, he will try to do something. So, he twists around to leave and calls one last response over his shoulder to his big brother. “And I was serious about those mozzarella sticks, I’ll be bringing some to the ceremony to munch on, but I’ll make sure to save you two for the reception.”

“You do that, and I’ll keep Kei from going too overboard with his search for your potential soulmates at least until after our honeymoon. I’ll make sure he doesn’t do anything before the wedding, promise! Also, guest list is completely locked in, and invites were sent out earlier. I’ll put yours on the fridge with the Hawk magnet.” hollers Touya with laughter in his voice as Shouto makes his way down his hall to his bedroom first.

Shouto grabs a pair of sweats, briefs, and a thin tee before heading over to the bathroom and locking the door, dimming the lights as he gets the bath running. He pours in his lavender bubble beads, waiting for the water to fill up over the jets to start them up as well as frothing up the water. Then he’s undressing, dropping his clothes in his clothes bin, and slipping into the bath carefully, enjoying the heated water as it washes over his skin and surrounds his body in the nice, large tub.

He relaxes into the bath, leaning his head against the back and letting everything go as he breathes in the lavender scent and his body loosens from the tenseness that he didn’t realize he was holding in.

*****

“You actually brought mozzarella sticks.” says Katsuki with a snort as he adjusts his tie as they stand outside, ready to walk into the reception behind Touya.

“I told Touya and my ex that I would, and I do not intend to be a liar. I made sure they got a good shot of them outside too, and Kei will be ensuring they have the headline, “Shouto brought Mozzarella sticks as a date because they’re better than his ex!” ready to run with. It will be a blast.” replies Shouto as he holds up his little cup with Mozzarella Sticks that he has arranged as a fried bouquet in his hands.

“Let’s go get me married, and then we can ensure your ex is ruined before partying the night away!” cheers Touya happily before the music plays.

The reception goes off without a hitch, and Shouto smirks when Keigo snorts at the sight of his bouquet of mozzarella sticks as Izuku tries to hide his giggles. When the words are spoken, “You May kiss your groom!” Shouto covers his eyes in mock disgust when after a quick kiss, Touya dips Keigo for a longer, more passionate, sweet kiss before helping him stand again, and separating.

They walk half-way down the aisle before Touya picks Keigo up bridal style and yells, “Now, it’s time to party because I married the love of my life!”

“Your brother is a mess.” says Katsuki with a scoff as Izuku joins them and wraps an arm around his bicep.

“You’re going to be ten times worse, and Izuku will be bawling. I think this went better than I expected for those two dramatic assholes.” replies Shouto knowingly as he arches a pale brow at Katsuki, daring him to argue.

“Oh fuck off, halfie.” huffs Katsuki while Izuku snickers into his arm, “He’s not wrong though.”

“Let’s go, as my brother said, Party. God I just wanna sit down and eat my mozzarella sticks, it was so hard not to eat one before the reception just to keep this as a fried bouquet.” grumbles Shouto as he starts walking down the aisle, following after the guests as they leave while Katsuki and Izuku chuckle behind him. “Hurry, Keigo will be mad if we’re the last ones to the paparazzi carpet between here and the reception hall.”

Shouto doesn’t speak much once they reach the paparazzi carpet, letting his brother and Keigo or Katsuki and Izuku speak up for him mostly. All he does is confirm the end of his relationship and remind the irritating reporters that he’s Bi, so he will date whoever the hell he wants. He’s munched through two mozzarella sticks before they reach the reception banquet hall across the street from the church Touya and Keigo got married in. He stands and smiles a small smile for the pictures the groom and groom parties have to take outside the hall while everyone else gets sent into the hall to settle in, then he’s hiding in his seat, grateful that Yumi and Rumi were handling speeches because he doesn’t have to get up again after they make their entrance.

Unfortunately for Shouto, about an hour into the reception, once the music really got playing and the makeshift dance floor started to fill after the groom and groom had their first dance, Keigo comes over and tugs him out of his chair.

“You owe me a dance Sho, and you can’t deny it because you agreed to this when Touya asked you to be his groomsmen. I gotta get Katsuki too, and Touya is dancing with Rumi now before he steals Izuku.” says Keigo as he tugs him onto the dance floor before placing his hands on Shouto’s shoulders.

“Alright, alright, but I’m not happy about it. You know I don’t dance.” grimaces Shouto as he awkwardly places his hands on Keigo’s sides before slipping into the easy sway that Keigo has already started. “How are you doing with all this?”

“I’m good, really happy, and definitely ready to get Touya alone again. But this has been the most dream-like wedding ever, and that’s such a good thing that I can hardly believe it. Your brother really ensured that I’d love every bit of this, and I’m so grateful to him for that.” replies Keigo in a lovesick tone as his eyes drift over Shouto’s shoulder, and with a quick twist, Shouto can see that he’s watching Touya argue with Katsuki about something while pointing at Izuku who is laughing.

“I’m glad. I’m really happy for you two, ya know? You make each other happy, and Touya deserves to be happy, he really does. But so do you. So, I’m really happy you found each other, even after you were adopted by Rumi’s parents and moved before coming back to find him all over again. I’m glad that you’re finally part of our family, Kei.” says Shouto softly as they sway, letting himself be emotional with his brother-in-law, feeling beyond happy that Touya and Keigo got their happy endings, that they found it within each other even after being a part for so long.

“Awe, Sho, that is so sweet little brother. Thank you, sweetheart.” says Keigo all teary eyed as he hugs Shouto quick and tight for a moment. “You’ll get your moment too, you know, and I can’t wait to see it happen.”

“Don’t hold your breath on that one, Kei, but instead of arguing with the groom on his wedding day, I think you should go help your husband win his argument against the lovebirds.” replies Shouto as he waves off the soft words, smiling tightly before nodding to where Touya has his head tilted back towards the ceiling in what can only be described as exasperation.

“Hmm, he can wait a few more minutes. It’ll be good for him since he wants to talk adopting in a year or two.” murmurs Keigo amusedly as he watches Touya as well.

“I don’t mean to interrupt, but I recognized a newly familiar face and was hoping I could cut in for a dance with Shouto, Mr. Takami.” comes a low voice that has Shouto freezing even as he twists around to find Hitoshi, from Amalia’s apartment building, looking at him softly, curiosity in his purple eyes and looking far too good in his black suit.

“Ah, Hitoshi! I didn’t see you guys at the reception, so I didn’t think you were going to be able to make it. It’s good to see you, and you absolutely can cut in as long as you tell me how you know my brother later.” replies Keigo with a teasing wink before he’s stepping back for Hitoshi to take his place and disappearing without much of a chance for Shouto to try to argue against the move.

“Do you mind dancing with me for a song?” asks Hitoshi softly as he steps towards Shouto, keeping a safe distance as a caution, something Shouto appreciates as his brain reboots.

“Sure, but only if Hanta is okay with it.” replies Shouto as soon as his brain comes online again.

“He absolutely is, even wants a turn once he gets away from my Pops. We were late cause they had to come grab us, my car caught a flat on the way here and my donut was flat when I yanked it out of the trunk.” explains Hitoshi easily as he steps forward and puts one of his hands on Shouto’s sides before taking his free hand while Shouto lays his other hand on Hitoshi’s shoulder.

“That’s too much dancing, but I guess I can save one for him since I’ve let you sweep me into one. I’m not much of a dancer though, so no making fun of me if I trample your toes.” says Shouto quietly as he steps forward under the light pressure Hitoshi added to his back as his hand shifts around from his side, their bodies brushing together as they sway in a tight circle.

“I’m not one for dancing either, but when we go to weddings, I promised to dance at least twice. So, don’t worry, I trample on his feet often when he pulls me into dances. I think we can do this without too much feet trampling though.” replies Hitoshi gently as Shouto looks up at him and sharply inhaled at how close they are as they sway together easily to a nonsensical slow song that Shouto couldn’t tell you the lyrics to if he tried.

“I guess.” whispers Shouto as he gets a little lost in the closeness, those eyes drawing him in as they dance closely together. “How do you know Keigo anyways?”

“Working in the law firm, my dad was the one who offered a partnership with Keigo when he mentioned taking over some things within your father’s company. Family friends is probably a better way to put it though cause Keigo and Rumi babysat me often enough as I got older.” replies Hitoshi easily, the low timber of his voice sending shivers down Shouto’s spine as he leaned closer, eyes closing as Hitoshi’s forehead gently knocked against his own. “You are something else, Shouto Todoroki.”

“That’s hardly ever said in a good way, so I’m not sure how to take that, Hitoshi.” whispers Shouto with a soft laugh before his eyes open to see want in purple eyes.

“It’s a very good thing.” replies Hitoshi in a whisper of his own.

Tension.

It’s the only way Shouto can describe the feeling within him as he looks into those purple eyes and sways with this man. Tension that can be cut with a knife, tension of want, and maybe lust, but a tension that ensures Shouto doesn’t hesitate to lean in when Hitoshi does. Their lips brush gently together at first before slotting easily as Shouto’s hand lays against the back of Hitoshi’s neck, and he leans into the kiss. He’s meeting Hitoshi when he reaches out with his touch, tilting their heads as their lips slide together.

Then there’s a cheer from somewhere that pulls Shouto back to himself, and he yanks back, completely breaking away from Hitoshi whose eyes go wide in confusion, sadness, or guilt, Shouto doesn’t know.

Shouto’s eyes are wide with panic, and he stutters, “I-I- I have to go-”

Shouto is turning and wading through the crowd to find Natsuo and his girlfriend in seconds.

“Please give me a ride home, I’ll cover for you with Kei and Touya, but I need to get out of here right now.” says Shouto in a rushed tone of panic as he looks at his older brother.

“Let’s go then.” says Natsuo easily as he and Marly stand to leave.

Then they’re all slipping through a side door and heading back to the church parking lot to get in Natsuo’s car.

Shouto is silent the entire ride, sending a message to Touya and Keigo that he was panicking and had Nats run him home, so please don’t be mad at Natsuo for leaving because Shouto made him. He sent the same message to Katsuki and Izuku to explain why he left before adding a message to both couples, “We can talk sometime tomorrow about it. Do not come to my apartment. I’m changing the codes as soon as I get there.”

“Thank you for the ride, I’ll explain eventually, enjoy the rest of your night you two.” says Shouto softly before he’s climbing out of the car and making his way to the security gate and heading for the building after going through the process as usual.

After changing the codes with the guy at the front desk, Shouto goes up to his apartment and immediately goes to the bathroom and throws up.

He kissed a taken man. He was a homewrecker. Hitoshi’s partner was in the room somewhere, and Shouto kissed him anyways. God he’s just as bad as Amalia, worse because he acted on it physically. Shouto empties the contents of his stomach until he’s got nothing left. He flushes the toilet before going to his room, and he changes into his biggest sweatshirt and baggiest sweatpants.

Then he’s pulling out his phone to log into his work email and put into use five of his saved-up vacation days because he is not going anywhere near work until he absolutely has to in a week, thank god it’s Saturday and the agency is shut down tomorrow because of the wedding.

worried about the dialogue, so I hope it wasn't too bad! In my mind, the endgame is Hitoshi x Hanta x Shouto, and it's soft and sweet.
