Where was her Pearlie..
Marina Ida had woken up one morning to see that her beloved girlfriend was not next to her. She spent hours searching her favorite places, calling her, sending her texts, all to no response.
That night, she collapsed on her bed and sobbed into her pillow. She couldn't believe the love of her life could have just.. vanished. There had to be something else going on.
a few days earlier..
Pearl had recently been acting.. odd. it had been a few years since team chaos had lost the final splatfest to be hosted by Off The Hook. splatfests had been taken over by a band called Sink/Swim, much to the dismay of up-and-coming music trio Deep Cut, who had been rejected from the splatfest host applications for not being orderly enough.
Marina had noticed that as of the last few days, Pearl had been talking about losing the splatfest like it was yesterday. "Rina, don't you think chaos being the norm would just be.. better?" "Pearlie baby, the splatfest happened years ago.. why are you asking stuff like this?" "Just wondering.." Pearl sighed.
Pearl was being a little distant with Marina as of late. Marina understood, sometimes people need a few days of alone time. Marina had recently been contacted by her childhood best friend from the Octarian Army, Acht. They had escaped the Deepsea Metro after being sanitized and forced to compose music for Commander TarTar. Acht was recovering from the sanitation and wanted to reconnect with Marina. The 2 friends had a fun day where they went to the boardwalk and ate ice cream.
Marina got home exhausted and collapsed on her bed next to Pearl who seemed to be sleeping soundly. She gave her a little kiss on the forehead and drifted off to sleep. The next morning was when Pearl went missing.
Marina was losing hope. she had spent days searching tirelessly for her girlfriend. She couldn't do this alone anymore. She figured she should contact someone from the New Squidbeak Splatoon to help. The only currently available agent was Surume, aka Su, aka Agent 4, who had helped Marie when Callie had gone missing. Marina figured Su would be the perfect squid for the job since she had experience finding missing people. Acht also volenteered to help find Pearl.
The 3 of them went to Mt. Nantai, the place where Marina and Pearl had first met. Marina had already looked there about 5 times but Su suggested to go back incase there was something she missed. The trio were standing at the peak, watching the sun set. Marina started to cry. "Pearlie and i come here once a month to watch the sun set.. this is the first time i've ever done it without her.." Marina fell to her knees and started sobbing into her hands. "Pearlie, wherever you are.. please.. just come back to me.. please" Acht and Su embraced Marina in a big bear hug to help her feel better when suddenly they heard a familiar voice. "Rinaaaa..." Marina jumped up. "PEARLIE?? Where are you??"
no response.
"Must have been the wind." said Acht. suddenly, the trio watched in awe as a strange portal appeared in front of them. "Rinaaaa...."
Marina tried to run into the portal but her friends held her back. "ARE YOU CRAZY??" yelled Su. "Pearlie is in there! Let me go!" Marina screamed as she tried to break free from Su and Acht. She managed to stick her foot in the portal, and all 3 of them got sucked in.
