The whole bet thing had started as a joke.
Sometimes bets were made on who went out for whom, without it being a lot of money or very well-known couples. All that until they started to think that Buck was dating someone. Every time Eddie saw Buck he avoided him or seemed a little more “different” than usual around him. From there they came to the conclusion that his two companions from 118 were probably dating each other, so almost everyone bet that they were dating (they even managed to get Bobby to sign up for the bet). The only person who surprised them that he didn't bet on them was Hen.
“Why don't you think they're dating?” Chimney asked her.
“I think Buck is dating Tommy.” Hen answered him. The people at 118 who had bet laughed at the idea about Buck and Tommy Kinard dating or in a romantic relationship.
The truth is that Hen knew that Buck and Tommy were dating. Buck himself told her so. He had gone on a date with Tommy and shortly after that date he had gone to Hen's house to tell her everything and tell her what had happened since the kiss Tommy had given him in the apartment. Precisely all of this had happened the day before Buck's bet as Eddie's partner began.
“It's obvious that Eddie and Buck are dating. “They are avoiding each other all the time at the station.” They said.
The reality is that Eddie had not spoken to his best friend since he discovered that he is bisexual and also that he is dating Tommy.
He didn't hate him for being bisexual. In reality he didn't know what to say to him so he started avoiding him at the station just in case.
A few days ago he had seen several names of the station along with a number on the blackboard. Out of curiosity he asked someone from 118 who turned out to be Hen.
“Do you know why all those names are on the board? Is there a meeting I didn't know about or something similar?”
Hen thought about what to say to Eddie.
“You're avoiding Buck and it shows.”
"No."
“Is it because of his new partner and because you saw them at the restaurant?”
“Did he tell you?”
"Yeah."
“I'm not homophobic, I just don't know what to say to Buck. “I didn’t know he liked boys as well as girls.”
“He just wants to know that you don't hate him for dating Tommy.” Hen advised Eddie, who looked towards Buck who was now laughing with Chimney.
"OK." There was a pause for a moment. “Are you going to tell me what the names mean?
Hen patted him on the back and left to talk to Chimney and Buck.
.
Buck was delighted with what he had just discovered. Apparently there was a bet on whether he was dating Eddie or Tommy. Maybe Hen would have told him about the bet and they would have decided to win some money. Since she was the only one betting on the relationship he had with Tommy, she would be the one who made the most money. Of course she had talked to Buck about splitting the money between them. They may have already put up some money because they knew who Buck was dating because it was Buck who was helping Hen with that bet.
No one had really figured out yet that he was dating him until he showed up in clothes that obviously weren't his since his last name wasn't “Kinard.”
He hadn't realized until everyone started giving him strange looks,
He saw Hen taking the money he had won from the bet.
He saw her teammates giving her that same money with annoyance.
Eddie already seemed to know what the names on the board were.
He didn't know what was going on with the looks until Hen showed him a photo of the shirt.
“I must have grabbed his shirt by accident because I was late for the shift.” He laughed and she handed him half of her money with a smile.
Bobby and Ravi were watching all this but not saying anything.
“You two cheated!” Chimney shouted.
